Meet Mottsun!

🎨Designed by: Ikumi Nakamura & Mai Mattori
🎨Rendered by: Inko Ai Takita
🎨3D by: Pav Plaha

Mottsun absolutely loves motsunabe, a dish made with offal. It is known as a smelly dish that has faded in popularity, but he doesn’t let that stop him from enjoying it regularly. He’s a really earnest guy who has never caused anyone any harm, but unfortunately people do struggle with his pungent offalish smell.

When Michi and Pinky☆ reopen the Promise Mascot Agency, he readily accepts the offer of work so that he can try and promote motsunabe to a new audience, whether they want to hear it or not.

Developer notes:
I love Mottsun as he is a tragic character that has a heart of gold. People have treated him so badly because of his stink but he’s just a pure character that loves what he loves.

Meet Kofun!

🎨Designed by: Ikumi Nakamura & Mai Mattori
🎨Rendered by: Inko Ai Takita
🎨3D by: Rachel Noy

Kofun is a fiercely clever mascot shaped like a burial mound that is fighting to keep the rich history of Kaso-Machi alive. She really wanted to use her status as a mascot to promote the rich history of Kaso-Machi beyond the town, but since budget cuts from town hall, she’s been left without a job or any income.

As a spirit medium, she can hear the unhappiness of the spirits that come to town without being greeted properly which makes her very sad. She still lovingly tends to the cemetery by herself, and is trying to convince people to come back for the Obon festival to pay respect to the ancient history of her beloved town.

Developer Notes:
Kofun was a very early design from Nakamura-san and Mattori-san. We picked her immediately as she fits our theme of abandonment and forgetting history perfectly.

Meet Salary Nyan!

🎨Designed by: Amy Crabtree
🎨Rendered by: Inko Ai Takita
🎨3D by: Pav Plaha

Salary Nyan is another mascot cat that felt the pull to the strange town of Kaso-Machi. All he wanted to be was a lifelong salaryman, and he dedicated his whole life to being a devoted employee. But despite his commitment to his work, his company let him go without a second thought. Ever since then, he has vowed to take revenge against his old boss that threw him away so easily.

As you explore around town on your adventure, you will see the biggest insult to Salary Nyan, over and over again. The ATMs around town, owned by the bank he used to work for, are still using his likeness to promote themselves! So even after letting him go, those scumbags kept using his likeness for their own promotion. Goddamn banks suck so much!

Developer Notes:
Salary Nyan was designed by Amy, she's designed a lot of our characters to be based on puns.
Oli Clarke Smith, Game Director
It’s fun when you make something in the game that needs a mascot, and you have one ready to go! We made an ATM system to send money in the game, and naturally, Salary Nyan was the mascot we picked for the bank.

Meet Tamageta!

🎨Designed by: Ikumi Nakamura, Mai Mattori, Rachel Noy
🎨Rendered by: Inko Ai Takita
🎨3D by: Rachel Noy

🥚Tamageta is a centuries old onsen egg mascot, but time has not dimmed his perfectly runny yolk. I guess the secret to a perfectly boiled egg is to leave it simmering for a few centuries, who knew!? Don’t try that at home though kids!

♨️He currently works at the onsen resort in town but things are going very badly! Shady dudes are trying to buy the land to make a new resort and the onsen owner has gone missing in mysterious circumstances. Tamageta accepts work at the agency despite his distaste for yakuza because he wants to earn enough money to buy the resort himself.

Developer notes:
Tamageta was one of the first mascots that went in the game and he’s had a lot of iterations since getting the first sketch back from Ikumi. We love his design and his highly strung nature.
