Demo update 0.5.1 Some QOL improvement and bug fixes

The main feature of this update is improvements to the moose AI in relation to minecarts. They will now prioritise minecarts that already have gems or logs in them when selecting where to unload. And the moose can now unload to any minecart in the train, not just the very top one.

The rest of the patch notes follows below:

Features/Improvements
  • Added missing upgrade images
  • Improved save robustness
  • Miners now prioritise minecarts that are already almost full when deciding where to unload gems or logs
  • Miners can now drop off gems or logs to any cart in a minecart train

Bug fixes
  • Fixed UI and rendering not working properly after minimizing the game
  • Fixed a bug causing the moose to stay in the air sometimes after being placed
  • Fixed a bug causing the tooltips for grinder upgrades to show the wring values
  • Fixed a bug causing the railway costs to not be in sync with each other
  • Fixed a bug causing the add railway button to not be disabled properly after buying railway length on max setting
  • Fixed settings not set to default when no settings file exists

Demo update 0.5 Preparing for full release

Hi, I hope you all are excited for the full release of Moose Miners. It is not far off now, May 10 remember?

I am currently working on the last features and improvements I want to get in for the full release and thought that since some of them I have made so far also apply to the demo I might as well make an update to the demo.

It is mostly UI improvements and general optimizations. But the most interesting new thing for any active demo players is multiple saves. You can now have up to 6 save games in total. This could come in handy if you want to experiment a bit in the demo now before the full release to make sure you get the best starting point on release. The demo progress will carry over if you buy the full game, and that includes all the save games you create in the demo. So go out in the mine and try to find a seed that has the most rare gems available inside the demo area.

The rest of the patch notes follows below:

Features/Improvements
  • Improved rendering performance in certain scenarios
  • Added Graphics settings
  • Reduced save file size
  • Remade parts of the in game UI
  • Added multiple save slots
  • Added button to delete control group flag

Balance changes
  • Storage points are now upgraded per column instead of all at once
  • Storage points no longer spill over to the sides
  • Gem value now scales slightly more than linear, so deeper gems are more worth per mining time spent than earlier gems

Bug fixes
  • Fixed a bug causing moose to end up in the wrong control groups sometimes
  • Fixed cursor being invisible when set too large on some screen resolutions
  • Fixed vsync causing tearing
  • Fixed moose wearing the wrong helmets
  • Fixed control group flag not casting a shadow
  • Fixed minecart upgrade prices being wrong sometimes
  • Fixed a bug causing resizing of Control Groups to not work properly sometimes
  • Storage minecart is now deselected when left clicking on the ground

Moose Miners Release Date Reveal

Hello everyone!

I'm really excited to announce that Moose Miners will be released here on Steam on May 10th!

Check out the release date reveal trailer:

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

The price will be $9.99 or your regional equivalent.

In the full game you can expect:
  • A map that is about 32k gems wide and 4.8k deep (for now, it will most likely be extended much further in a future update). Compared to 1k wide and 400 deep in the demo.
  • A forest below the base as large as the gem area where your moose can cut down trees to sell lumber.
  • Wizard moose that will be stationed at the base and create wands out of gems and sticks to sell for higher profit.
  • Upgrades to unlock for the moose and the base infrastructure to extend the upgrade limits on moose and minecarts.

I also have quite some ideas for more things that did not make the cut for the initial release, so if the launch of the game goes well you can expect some cool free content updates to the game after release.

Also the progress in the demo will carry over to the full version, so make sure to clear the whole demo area before the release if you haven't already to get a head start when the full game releases.

Hotfix for 0.4.1 demo update

A hotfix for a crash issue for cpus without AVX support. I accidently used a few AVX-instructions that now are replaced with SSE counterparts. So as long as your cpu supports SSE4.1 it should run.

Developer livestream of the demo

I'll be streaming the demo and talking a bit about the game.
The footage is pre-recorded, but I will hang out in the chat to answer any questions you might have
