1.0.6 Sell button, moose selector and more!

Time for a quality of life update! The main things in this update is the sell button that let's you sell stuff and a moose selector that allows for some more advanced selection of the moose. There are a few other smaller additions included that have been requested by you and also some bug fixes so let's go through all the changes in this update.

I'll start with the sell button which is a feature that has been requested a lot. The request for a sell button has often been coupled with a request for an undo option as well to undo accidental purchases of many grinders for example. I decided to focus on the sell button only in this update since I think it will solve the issue for most people and it is much quicker to implement than a full undo system. Implementing an undo feature would be a much more involved thing taking longer time which would mean other planned nice features and new content would have to wait or be discarded to make so let's start with this sell button and see if that can be enough for most cases.

To sell things you first select what you want to sell, for example some moose or some rail. Then the sell button will show in its tooltip how much you will get by selling it. You get back half the price of upgrades on the thing you are selling and the full price of the actual thing. So for example when selling moose, any upgrades would be refunded by half their cost and the cost of buying the moose will be refunded in full.

To reduce the accidental buys a bit I have added a confirmation dialog when trying to buy a lot of grinders, since the grinders seem to be the most common case of accidental buying. Please let me know if you buy something else in large numbers that are tedious to sell afterwards to undo, that would benefit of being protected by the new dialog. The dialog can be disabled completely in settings.

The next exciting new feature is the moose selector. You find it in the new advanced gameplay control menu, where it is currently the only thing. You expect some more things to appear in that menu in the future.

In there, you can filter which moose you want to select by whether they are on the gem side or on the tree side, if they are in a group or not or a certain group. As well as filter how many you want to select by picking a maximum number to select and a percentage of the moose that fit the filter to select.

As a part of this I renamed the miners to moose when talked about in the general sense, and then they are called miners on the gem side and loggers on the tree side. You can now also see how many are on each side in the info panel that shows your company value and mining depth.

Another thing added in this update that has been requested a lot is the ability to toggle crafters on or off. Or more specifically, I have added a fence that indicates that the gems and trees will not be picked up by the storage minecart when a crafter has been added on a tile. This fence can be toggled on or off, and when off the storage minecart will pickup gems or trees from that tile. The crafter will still be able to work when the fence is off if there are both gems and trees available. To unlock the toggling of fences you need to have the resource spillage upgrade unlocked.

Due to popular requests two new amounts for the upgrade amount selector has been added, 100 and 1000. So now you don't have to click a hundred times when you want to buy exactly 1000 moose.

I also made it so if you hold down shift with nothing selected the selection rectangle will prioritize moose over everything else if there are any moose in the rectangle. The shift button has been a hidden way of achieving sort of this behaviour already since it makes a selection additive, meaning if you have moose selected and hold down shift it will select additional moose instead of selecting something else. But now you don't have to find a moose to select first, just hold down shift and you will select only moose even if they are hiding under rail.

That was the main new additions in this update, there are a few other improvements and a bunch of bug fixes that you can read about in the full patch notes below. Thank you everyone that has come with suggestions for improvements for the game, and to everyone that has helped with bug fixes by sending me your save files.

Hope you'll like this update, I'll go start on the next one. The plan for the next larger update is to add an additional minecart or train in the base that moves sticks around to make it easier to balance the sticks and gems for wand crafting.

Additions/Improvements
  • Added a sell button
  • Right click now deselects the current selection
  • Info box when nothing is selected now shows miner count and logger count, i.e. how many moose are on the gem side and how many moose are on the tree side
  • Miner(s) has been replaced with Moose in the UI text when it is refering to both miners and loggers. If I have missed to change it anywhere please let me know.
  • Increased moose vision range when looking for gems/trees or unload points
  • Added fences to indicate that the storage minecart won't pickup gems or trees from a tile after a crafter has been added
  • Toggle fences upgrade now also allows toggling the new fences on or off to allow the storage minecart to pickup gems or trees from tiles with crafters
  • Added 100, and 1000 to upgrade amount
  • Moose will be prioritised on selection if holding down shift with nothing selected

  • Fixed simulation getting stuck after clearing or almost clearing available trees or gems

1.0.5 Bug fixes and a couple of new gameplay settings

This update fixes the miners trying to mine gems or trees they cannot mine and a few others. I also added two new settings in the gameplay section. One being that you can now choose to have the miners to only prioritise distance when selecting which minecart to unload to instead of prioritising minecarts that are almost full. This behaviour has been requested by quite a few, so I figured I might as well add a setting for it.

Additions/Improvements
  • Right control now also works to increase camera speed
  • Added a setting in gameplay settings to keep moose selection after placing down just bought moose
  • Added a setting in gameplay settings to decide if moose should prioritise distance or fill ratio when deciding which minecart to unload to

Bug fixes
  • Fixed miners getting stuck mining gems or trees that cannot be mined
  • Fixed miners ignoring short minecarts on the tree side when looking for a collection point to unload trees to
  • Miners will no longer wait for minecarts that are moving towards the base
  • Fixed miner capacity cost not being correct for some miners sometimes
  • Fixed a crash caused by minecarts carrying negative or more than the max value of gems or trees sometimes
  • Fixed miners getting stuck trying to walk outside edges of the map

Update 1.0.4 More bug fixes

Some more bug fixes this time. I am currently working on the sell button, but I made some bug fixes that I thought was worth releasing in their own update.

I also took the opportunity to implement an improvement of the navigation button from a suggestion on the Discord. Full list below:

Improvements
  • Up and Down navigation buttons now move the camera to the base instead of going all the way to the other side. Pressing the same button again moves the camera to the mining edge.

Bug fixes
  • Fixed a crash when warning icons was on and base was extended all the way to the sides
  • Fixed miners getting stuck at the edges of the map
  • Fixed rails getting out of the map border
  • Fixed 100% cpu usage on the Steam deck even when playing on smaller bases
  • Create control group button no longer overlaps with control group 9 button

Update 1.0.3 more bug fixes

Some more bug fixes today. Hopefully it will make things more stable now so I can focus on the sell button next

Balance changes
  • Miners now can upgrade to their intended max speed of 15.0 m/s instead of only 14.7 m/s

Bug fixes
  • Fixed a bug where miners sometimes had 0 speed which would also cause the game to freeze when upgrading miner speed
  • Minimum miner saw damage now shows correctly in the info box when saw damage is over 2000
  • Fixed a bug causing the navigation buttons to sometimes take you outside the current available map area
  • Fixed a bug where the storage minecart had 0 carts
  • Fixed a bug causing cleared columns of gems and trees to reappear
  • Fixed a bug making it possible to refund more miners than you had

Update 1.0.2 few bug fixes

Just a few quick bug fixes to fix some issues.

Fixed a bug causing upgrading the storage minecart when it was heading through the portal to cause various crashes.

Fixed some miner upgrades not working or causing the game to freeze.

Set vsync to enabled by default as this might be a solution for the yellow screen problem. It will only apply when starting the game for the first time or after deleting the settings.data file. But if you have the yellow screen problem, try enabling vscync and see if that solves it for you. If it does, please let me know and also send your dxdiag files if you have the issue so I can try to figure out what is actually causing it.
