Castor Yard FAQ - Next Fest Common Questions

Heya all players!

With the close of the Steam Next Fest, our Demo maintenance is coming to an end. We're fully focused on developing the full version of the game to keep our winter release promise - see you in Castor Yard!

During the recently concluded Next Fest, we released the latest S4U Demo. We want to thank everyone for playing and enjoying it! Massive thanks to all of your feedback and suggestions on the updated content. We've compiled answers to some common questions in the Castor Yard Q&A section below.

Q: Why was the song-switching feature removed in the new demo?

A: We want players to stay focused on the story while at their computers and enjoy the music when they’re on the go.
In the full version, appropriate tracks will play based on the storyline when you're at the computer, and you’ll also be able to buy the day’s soundtrack from vending machines while outside.
Additionally, songs are organized by album, so if an album only has one song, there naturally won’t be anything to skip to.

Q: Can I speed up the game?

A: Yes, you can hold down Shift to fast-forward through already-read content. This way, you won’t miss any inner monologues for content you haven't read.

Q: Can the "typing" animation be skipped?

A: No, it can’t be skipped. It was designed for immersion and realism, giving a sense that the other person is actually thinking.

There aren’t too many people to chat with in the demo, but in the full version, you’ll have a lot more conversations...so, you’ll see¥%#&@)!…

Q: Is saving only possible at the end of each day?

A: Yes, the game only allows saving at the end of each day, not at any time. Each day’s playtime is roughly 30 minutes, so please play when you have a good chunk of time.

Q: Could switching responses be made more convenient? I don’t want to keep retyping.

A: After typing out all responses, you can use Backspace to quickly switch between options.
However, for your final response, we still encourage you to type it out yourself to add a personal touch.

Q: Does the game support controllers? Will it be available on Steam Deck?

A: Controller is supported, but we still recommend keyboard and mouse for the best experience. Further adaptation and Steam Deck support may come after we complete the full version.

Q: Is the game supported on Mac?

A: Not at the moment. We’re focusing on completing the Windows version first.

Q: I keep forgetting who's who...

A: We’ll optimize contact nicknames and real names to help you remember. When starting a conversation from the friends list, we’ll also include a brief story recap to jog your memory.

Q: I don’t quite understand concepts like Chaos Address or Cyber Life.

A: The full version will go into these details, providing more relevant information. Please look forward to it!

Q: Why does pressing TAB to forward to friends only shows one emoji?

A: Only forwarding specific news to specific friends can trigger new dialogues. The forwarding effect for other friends will be further refined later on.

Q: Romantic relationships?

A: Yes, you’ll be able to develop romantic relationships with different characters.

Q: Do I have to buy food every day to survive?

A: No, but if Miki doesn’t shop, she’ll become distracted due to unsatisfied material needs. Feel free to splurge on game consoles and albums! (lol)

Q: More interaction and more purhasable goods!

A: We’d love to add more if possible, but it might impact the release timing for the full version...

Q: When is the release date?

A: Soon, soon! This winter!

Q: What’s the price of the game?

A: Not decided yet, but it’ll be set based on the final game content and within the range most players indicated they’re comfortable with in previous surveys.

Q: Will there be more physical merchandise?

A: Working on it!

Q: I really love S4U’s music! Will the OST be available?

A: Yes, we’ll release it too~
