Development Update #9: Multiplayer Customisation and Grant Peerage



In this Development Update video, we take a look at some of the recent additions to the game that you can jump in and experience straight away!

INTRO
Greetings warriors of Calradia!

The past few patches contained some significant updates to the game, multiplayer in particular, so with e1.6.4 now live, we wanted to share a Development Update video to highlight some of the new additions that you can jump in and experience straight away!


MULTIPLAYER CUSTOMISATION SYSTEM (e1.6.2)
e1.6.2 saw the introduction of a new multiplayer customisation system that rewards you with Loot simply for playing the game.

Loot can be used to unlock different armours and clothing for your character and troops, allowing you to customise the appearance of each troop for each faction, while still retaining the look and feel of the selected class and culture.

Additionally, Loot can be used to unlock various Sigils to display on your banner and shield.

This update allows you to inject more of your own personality into your multiplayer character and will, in time, allow friends and foes to identify you on the battlefield from your appearance alone.


MULTIPLAYER CHEERS (e1.6.3)
With e1.6.3, two additional multiplayer updates arrived to help you when it comes to further expressing yourself and communicating with other players.

Cheers are short animations that can be used to encourage your teammates or taunt your opponents in equal measure, allowing you to celebrate those special moments and acknowledge other players in a more personal way.


MULTIPLAYER SHOUTS (e1.6.3)
And alongside Cheers we have Shouts.

Shouts have a more direct impact on gameplay as they allow you to quickly and effectively communicate with your teammates using a selection of preset commands.


MULTIPLAYER MVP (e1.6.3)
If you plan to peacock around in your shiny new gear, shouting and cheering, then you need to be able to prove that you’re worth your salt. The addition of the most valuable player award in e1.6.3 allows you to do just that, by highlighting the standout player from each team every round.


MULTIPLAYER SCORING SYSTEM (e1.6.3)
But, just before you jump in and try to climb the leaderboard with the bodies of your victims, you should know that it’s not all about top fragging! Alongside the MVP system came a change to how player scores are calculated, with less emphasis placed on final blows, and more on teamwork and recognising each player’s contribution.


MULTIPLAYER BADGES (e1.6.5)
And for the final addition on the multiplayer front, looking ahead to e1.6.5 we have a number of new progressive multiplayer badges that can be unlocked by completing different challenges.


GRANT PEERAGE (e1.6.3)
Well, with all of those huge multiplayer updates it would be fair to think that singleplayer might have taken a bit of a back seat... but you’d be wrong of course!

e1.6.3 saw the introduction of a much-requested sandbox feature: the granting of peerage to companions. This update allows you to elevate your companions to the ranks of the nobility, creating an entirely new family that you get to name.

Naturally, you will need to hold the top office to be able to bestow such honours on a commoner, as well as, a suitable fief to grant to your new vassal and enough reserves in your treasury to cover all associated costs.

Once your companion has received their new title, they will depart your court to be joined by distant members of their family in their new home, serving under your rule.


NEW CROWNS (e1.6.2 - e1.6.5)
If you’re in the position to give away land and titles, then you’re definitely in the position to treat yourself to one of the new crowns added in e1.6.2 - e1.6.5.


SPEAR BRACING (e1.6.2)
And as head out on the customary test run with your new gear, make sure to check out the Spear Bracing combat mechanic that was implemented to singleplayer battles and sieges in e1.6.2.

Spear Bracing poses a fresh challenge to cavalry while offering new tactical options for you to explore.


TAVERN ARTWORK (e1.6.3)
As always, we continue with our efforts to make Bannerlord a more immersive experience that draws you into the world of Calradia, often in subtle ways.

One such way is the game’s extensive collection of artwork which, in e1.6.3, was further expanded with the addition of a new tavern menu background for each major culture.


NEW ISSUE QUEST (e1.6.3)
A new issue quest was added in e1.6.3, bringing the current total to 39, with even more in the pipeline!

Betting Fraud allows you to further explore your villainous side by working with gang leaders to bet on and fix tournaments.


BENCHMARK MODE (e1.6.4)
And finally, e1.6.4 saw the addition of a new benchmark mode that allows you to put the game through its paces, testing both your CPU and GPU performance. The benchmark makes use of a scripted battle to give consistent results across different settings and hardware, with an option to export the final results upon completion of the test.

This mod lets you fight Crusader Kings 3 battles inside Mount & Blade 2

While Crusader Kings 3 is a great simulation of medieval political jostling, when this degenerate into war, it lacks a little pizzaz. Enter Crusader Blade, a new mod which lets you fight CK3 battles inside Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. When it's time to rumble in CK3, it'll generate a Bannerlord battle based on your armies for you to fight in-person, then transfer the results back into CK3. Immensely impressive.

Clan and Party
  • It is now possible for players to promote companions into nobles with their own clan. In order to use this feature, the player must:
    • Be the leader of a kingdom.
    • Have at least one fief.
    • Have an active companion that is not a family member.
    • Have 20.000 Denars and 500 Influence ready to spend for the promotion.
    • Once the conditions are met the player can initiate the dialogue with a companion about their promotion. The player will grant the companion one of their fiefs and will be able to name their clan. The newly created clan will be a tier 2 clan and receive a 50 relation bonus with the player’s clan.
  • Removed influence gain from donating troops to a clan member's party.


Armies
  • Factions will no longer create armies if they are not at war.


Settlement Actions (Town, Village, Castle and Hideout)
  • Fixed a bug that prevented prisoners from being donated to towns.


Quests & Issues
  • Fixed an issue that allowed hostile settlements to be selected for the "Deliver the Herd" quest.


Conversations & Encounters
  • Removed the ability to attack enemy parties after accepting the safe passage agreement via the "Surrender or die" dialogue.
  • Fixed an incorrect dialogue option that would appear after a successful barter with bandits.
  • Fixed a bug that caused extra candidates to appear in marriage barters.


Other
  • Glaive weapons used in Khuzait tournaments now deal blunt damage.
  • 'Khuzait Darkhan' now has 60 Bow Skill Level and 80 Throwing Skill Level (previously 80 Bow and 60 Throwing).
  • Reduced the weight of 'Fringed Cloak' to 0.5 from 4.0.
  • Removed the non-civilian weapon 'Heavy Flanged Mace' from Khuzait noble civilian equipment sets.
  • 'Legionary Reinforced Studded Harness' now provides 6 arm and 7 body armour (previously 8 arm and 6 body armour).
  • 'Legionary Studded Harness' now provides 4 arm and 7 body armour (previously 4 arm and 6 body armour).

  • Improved multi-core performance of missile physics.


Combat
  • Ballista Improvements:
    • Increased the fire rate.
    • Decreased the flying curvature.
    • Added a sight.
    • Improved AI usage.
    • Minor animation tweaks.
    • Corrected the ballista bolt's centre of mass.
  • Attacks now take into account the relative movement speed between the attacker and the target when deciding if an attack will bounce or not.
  • A system that approximates local superiority has now been implemented.
    • This helps AI agents to distinguish a nearby lone enemy that they can kill from a group of enemies. They can then choose to fight or move towards their assigned tactical position in hopes of better odds.
    • A minor random element was also introduced that slightly influences decision scores.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented units from using shields while being shot at by archers.

  • Font atlas generator is now available to modders. Modders can generate new font files with custom TTF files and use these fonts in-game. We've also created documentation on how to use this tool: http://docs.modding.bannerlord.com/asset-management/how_to_add_custom_fonts/
  • StoryModeEvents.RemoveListeners do not need to be explicitly called anymore. Now, StoryModeEvents is added as a CampaignEventReceiver.

  • Fixed a bug that prevented the crafting order relation effect from the 'Experienced Smith' perk from working when the order had been completed with a companion.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed hidden crafting pieces to be unlocked (they are there for save compatibility only).


Settlement Actions (Town, Village, Castle and Hideout)
  • Tournament Changes:
    • Tournaments are now auto-simulated after 15 days without player interaction.
    • The tournament winner will receive an elite reward (a reward that costs 5000 denars) if there are 4 or more nobles in the tournament (player included). The value of the reward scales with the number of nobles that participate in the tournament. If there are less than 4 nobles in the tournament, the winner will receive a random regular reward which costs between 1600 and 5000 denars.
    • If the winner is the player character or a clan member who is in the main party, the tournament prize will appear in the player's inventory. Otherwise, the value of the prize in denars will be given to the winner's clan.
    • Non-hero troop distribution has been changed to around 40% Tier 3 troops, 40% Tier 4 troops and 20% Tier 5 troops in both tournaments and practice fights. If there aren’t enough troops to hold this condition in the garrison, the remaining slots are filled with random Tier 3-5 troops.
    • Updated the tournament game menu text.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented relation increase with a settlement owner when donating prisoners.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented garrisons from increasing despite showing +X change per day in the tooltip.


Quests & Issues
  • Added a campaign.cancel_quest console command which can cancel quests.
  • Changed some quest related conversation dialogues to map conversations instead of mission conversations.
  • The "Scout Enemy Garrison" quest will no longer target settlements that are far away.
  • The "Fencing Stolen Goods" quest will now succeed if the player waits in the quest settlement until the quest times out.
  • Changed some variables in the "Art of the Trade" quest (making profits from it will now be easier).
  • Notables that the player character gains or loses relation with in the "Revenue Farming" quest will now remember the player character.
  • The target settlement in the "Prodigal Son" quest is now being tracked on the map.
  • Text improvements to the "Gang Needs Recruits" and "Lord Wants Rival Captured" quests.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the bandit party to wait near the settlement gate in the "Caravan Ambush" quest.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented relations from decreasing when the "Army Needs Supply" quest failed.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the companion that was resolving an issue to disappear if the quest giver had died.
  • Fixed a bug that timed out the "Eliminate Kingdom" quest.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Arzagos and Istiana to be moved to the keep after kingdom creation.
  • Increased the chance of capturing prisoners in the fight with raiders during the tutorial.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the player to spawn as a spectator if they retreated and tried to enter the battle again in the fight with raiders during the tutorial.


Conversations & Encounters
  • Added additional lines for surrender demands and comments from NPCs that had participated in tournaments with the player.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the kingdom creation dialogue option to appear even though the player had already created a kingdom.
  • Fixed minor errors in dialogues.


Other
  • Ira is now shorter and has a slightly smaller build.
  • Musicians in taverns no longer have the same faces.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the player's stash to be cleared.
  • Fixed a bug related to calculating troop upgrade targets for mercenaries.

  • Echerion
    • Adjusted 3 of the respawn positions (made the seaside's team timing advantage smaller for reaching the B flag).
    • Fixed physics problems with some ramps.
    • Adjusted lighting and added new details.
    • Improved performance by disabling hundreds of unused light probes and by removing some distant flora.

    • Added a new wall/obstacle at the C flag.
    • Adjusted the middle pit fence, making it easier to shoot through.
    • Fixed physics problems with some ramps.

    • Heavily adjusted attacker and defender spawns in the end phase.

Changes
  • Added progressive badges for individual game mode kills and wins, hours played, and levels gained.
  • Improved the display of teammates' equipment by showing their equipment over their characters in the class selection screen.
  • Added two new options, "Enable Generic Avatars" and "Enable Generic Names" which replaces usernames and avatars with generic names and avatars.
  • Made changes to ensure that secondary team colours are more consistent.

  • Fixed a bug that caused the clan matches button to be visible when clan matches were disabled.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented scoreboard player avatars from being shown in duel mode.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented team selection from working during class selection.
  • Fixed a bug that caused player equipment to not update correctly in duels.

  • Added tab navigation to the options screen with Q and E keys.

  • Improved performance of the on-demand animation loading system.


Combat
  • Increased the tendency of cavalry agents to couch lance.
  • Fixed a bug related to cavalry agents' aiming system that caused agents to aim at the wrong position.
  • Fixed a bug that was causing units in a shield wall formation to move their shields up and down constantly.
  • Fixed a bug that caused ranged units to switch to melee mode whenever they were placed near castle gates.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented certain weapon types from being wielded on spawn.


Other
  • Fixed a bug that caused the rotation of siege engines to revert to their default after being destroyed.


Modding

  • MapConversationTableau's atmosphere selection is now moddable. Modders can change the SandBoxViewSubModule.MapConversationDataProvider with SetMapConversationDataProvider and set their own custom atmospheres.
  • Modders can now add and remove additional Vec3 targets to mission namemarkers with AddGenericMarker and RemoveGenericMarker.
  • Encyclopedia Home page tabs (settlements, clans, kingdoms etc.) are now moddable.
  • The code that awards charm XP was moved from ChangeRelationAction.ApplyInternal to CharacterRelationCampaignBehavior.
  • Fixed an issue with modder-created WeaponUsageData instances not being included in the crafting templates.
  • Whether or not a hero can give out volunteers can now be changed with newly added VolunteerProductionModel.CanHaveRecruits.
  • Added OnAfterSessionStart event.
