Hello, fans of strategic city-builders!

Today's announcement will allow all players waiting for the premiere of The Whims of the Gods to learn a little more about our studio and the production itself. Especially for you, a small secret will be revealed by people who work directly on the production of the game daily:

Łukasz Janczuk - responsible for the design of the production
Paweł Truong - dealing with technical issues/programming
Magdalena Stadnicka - working on the artistic side of The Whims of the Gods

Łukasz has been involved in game design for a dozen years. He had the opportunity to work on games from many different genres - from shooters to adventure games. However, Whims of the Gods as a co-op city builder offers new challenges. In the game that he currently oversees, he is responsible for designing all the elements that make up the gameplay. Production chains and which buildings take part in them, technology trees, rules for the operation of individual buildings, units, and their features. Together with other designers, he comes up with these elements and creates documentation for them in such a way that other team members can bring them to life in the game.



Paweł is the lead programmer at PJ GAMES. In the team, he is responsible for designing or supervising the creation of systems to implement the artists' visions. He often nit-picks and asks questions to designers, who - as you can imagine - like Paweł a lot... 😄 While working on The Whims of the Gods, he was convinced that there are different ways of technically implementing a given idea. Each of these paths has advantages and disadvantages, such as implementation time, level of complexity, and possibility of expansion. In addition to designing the game itself, he supports the team of programmers, establishes and supervises the processes of creating clean code. He says:

[h3]"The best thing about creating games is that you can quickly see the effects of your work, and the design process itself is extremely satisfying".[/h3]

Magdalena works as Art Director. Her main task is to create a virtual world that is convincing enough for the player to want to enter it, believe in it, and have a great time playing. She presents her vision to the graphic designers and makes sure that the chosen stylistic path is consistently implemented, coordinates the graphic designers, sets work schedules, and sets further artistic goals. Does it lead to their implementation? Absolutely!



She notes that the style of The Whims of Gods assumes a certain simplification of form, although it enriches the world with details and interesting using light and color. Paradoxically, this requires great discipline. Magdalena is liked even more in the team than Paweł 😄

The final or almost final product does not have to be an exact reproduction of the original idea and it is difficult to refrain from implementing new concepts. Therefore, the role of our colleagues from the team is not only to listen to everyone but also to make sure that in PJ GAMES creating games is perceived as a kind of unique adventure. A cooperative one also.
