Patch 0.30 Release News

Preamble:

Just wanted to let everyone know the third class is well on its way, but it's taking a little longer to finish than anticipated. Some of the ideas I've had planned since pre-release just didn't align with the game as it is today, in balance and concept, and I had to iterate a bit more to make sure the new class is as fun as it is unique.

I had hoped to still make the deadline, but I'm going to take the extra time to address some additional bugs, and make sure this release is as polished as I can get it (before thousands of you break it immediately).

I'll be switching to a more regular update cadence, with smaller patches, so content drops are a bit more regular going forward. May is going to be all about getting new boons into your hands. I have a pile of talent trees and cursed boons to add, and I'm going to try to push out a patch every 7-10 days, even if its only one new talent tree at a time, so there's always something new on the horizon.


Important stuff:
  • The new release date is expected to be Sunday May 5th, with a potential May 6th release at the latest.
  • I've also fixed an issue in the upcoming patch that could see the framerate drop by half on certain configurations. For those of you that had frame drops even in the main menu, this might help. It did on my windows tablet pc (was dropping from 120 to 70fps, now holding at 115-120fps always)
  • The patch will include: The Electromancer, 8 equippable items, 14 new boons in 2 talent trees, 4 achievements, and a pile of bug fixes from previous reports (thanks!).



Hotfix 0.25d

Just a couple usability updates.

  • Fixed an issue with Resolution drop down transparency in the options menu
  • Fixed an issue where opening a menu with the keyboard would result in mouse navigation not immediately responding until you moved the mouse a fair speed or distance

Quick note: I'm aware of a couple menu issues related to mouse selection, and the resolution drop down, and will be releasing a hotfix shortly to fix those.

The next patch is coming along nicely, with the new class shaping up to play unlike either of the previous two. The Electromancer is a high mobility hero whose low initial damage builds to -ahem- shocking results! There's still a bit of content and polish to do, but the full release is expected on May 3rd.



A portion of the new update will likely head to the beta branch before that date (but not yet). So if you'd like to test out features and content extra early: Right click Boons & Burdens in your steam library, then select "Properties" > "Betas" and enter the code: "catmanapplebro"

Beyond this, I've switched the order of the next couple of updates so I can get more boons into your hands sooner. Patch 0.40 will have a lot of fun new upgrades, expanded synergy options for the Electromancer, and some updates to older talent trees and boons to better serve all three classes.

Hotfix 0.25c

Couple quick changes.

Note: This update also contains part of the new class update, but that won't be discoverable/playable just yet. If any weirdness arises related to that, please let me know in the forums.

  • 0.25c reverts the framerate cap to 120 fps.
  • The Pyro's Fireline dash ability is no longer mistakenly tied to the framerate, and should be consistent regardless of your current fps.

Hotfix 0.25b

Slowly chipping away at little issues as I work toward finishing the new class. I've narrowed down the issue that can cause certain effects (such as Snow Cone) to teleport to weird places (usually near the character), but have not yet implemented a fix.

Bug Fixes
  • Found and fixed two more conflicts that could result in units (enemies and neutral) spawning into an invulnerable state and remaining there. These conflicts were not in older builds, and look like a result of accidentally moving/deleting some small elements.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause collectibles to stop animating after leveling up in Arena mode
