Soulmask—A letter from our Producer ZIMA
Hi Chieftains,
I'm ZIMA, the chief producer! As you all know, our EA is now in its countdwon stage, if you want to learn more about the EA version, feel free to check out this announcement:

In these final days, my team and I have been working tirelessly on the last optimizations for Soulmask. I'm pleased to announce that we secured the top spot for Most Anticipated Game at Steam Open world survival Crafting Fest. To celebrate this rare achievement, I indulged in an extra glass of whisky. Without the support of our players, this wouldn't have been possible, and it motivates us even more to strive for excellence.

At the last moment, I realized that we have never shared about any details regarding the birth of Soulmask.

Therefore, as we are about to meet everyone at the EA launch, I would like to write a letter to all the Chieftains. In this letter, I hope to describe the journey of Soulmask from a mere concept to the expansive world it has become, and outline its future path.
The Origin and Future of Soulmask
If I were to talk about the inspiration behind Soulmask, I think the initial motivation for creating any game naturally arises from a desire to express oneself. Whenever I find myself in deep thought, often after a few drinks, I can't help but ponder abstract questions: Why do we exist? What is humanity's ultimate destiny? What exactly is consciousness? Will robots eventually replace humans, and if so, will they possess souls?

As these ideas grew stronger, I felt an irresistible urge to create a game that explores the "ultimate question." This is how Soulmask was born—a natural evolution of concepts like savage tribes in the rainforest, colossal pyramids from lost civilizations, and enigmatic masks from mysterious cultures...

The central theme of Soulmask delves into a fascinating aspect of civilization's evolution: "Awareness Uploading." The idea of a "mask" serves as an ideal metaphor for this concept—When you wear a mask, are you still truly yourself? If awareness is uploaded and detached from the physical body, where does one's sense of self reside? Furthermore, what happens when awareness is transferred into a mask? Could someone become just a facade and possibly share control over their body with others through this medium? These intriguing scenarios captivate me because they open up endless possibilities.

Also, in the world of Soulmask, we bring to life various tiers of civilization: From savage tribal societies to lost ancient cultures and mysterious prehistoric civilizations. To avoid spoilers, I won't delve deeper into this topic right now. Instead, I invite all chieftains to explore this realm with curiosity—uncovering connections between these civilizations and their hidden stories. What may seem like disparate cultures could indeed follow a unique pattern... who knows?

Lastly, as a seasoned veteran in the gaming industry, I am eager to develop a game that offer extensive freedom and enduring gameplay. My years of gaming experience have shown me that sandbox games are my true calling. Moreover, my vision includes crafting a multiplayer adventure game where players can join forces with friends and potentially accommodate an even larger player base (I know it's hard to achieve, but we're still striving for it). We have also incorporated the popular simulation element, including tribesmen recruitment and diverse traits for these characters, to enrich the game's longevity and depth.

Hence, that's how Soulmask came into being. I take pride in the universe we've crafted, yet there's still much work to perfect it.

In Soulmask, your adventure extends far beyond a single world. As you progress deeper into the game, you'll uncover entirely new regions on this planet—each with its own distinct physical environments and cultural themes. And who knows? One day, you might even journey beyond this planet to reveal what lies behind the mask. Rest assured, every world we create adheres to a consistent and coherent set of rules. Our aim is to enrich every facet of these worlds, making your experience more vibrant and immersive than ever before.
About EA Version
As for the reason for choosing EA mode, we have a very straightforward decision: We believe that player engagement is crucial for enhancing our game. By introducing it to a broader audience early on, we can gather diverse and invaluable feedback. Our goal is to collaborate closely with players to develop, refine, and shape this gaming universe together. There's no better way to achieve this than by releasing Soulmask into Early Access on Steam.

Throughout our development journey, from initial small-scale testing to extensive large-scale demo, we've conducted multiple playtests. During this process, we noticed an overwhelming enthusiasm for Soulmask. Players are eagerly anticipating the chance to dive into the game as soon as possible. In light of this excitement, we believe it's a fantastic opportunity to meet their expectations and deliver the experience at just the right moment.

As for how long the experience for EA will persist? All I can tell is, we are working tirelessly to accelerate development, striving to quickly incorporate exciting suggestions from both our team and players to make Soulmask even more captivating. However, we need to monitor the EA phase before finalizing an exact release date.

Perhaps many Chieftains are so curious about the differences between EA version and the full version, I would say, for delivering both quality and quantity in our Early Access release, we are dedicating all our efforts to perfecting Soulmask – an experience designed for everyone to enjoy. This EA version will provide a rich and immersive gaming experience! As we move towards the full release, we'll actively incorporate your feedback and roll out various free updates, including new mask skins and construction components. The launch of our EA version is just the beginning for Soulmask, and we hope you'll love it as much as we do.

As for the notable features in the EA version, firstly, it's about recruiting your own tribesmen to establish a tribe, engage in farming and animal husbandry activities to keep the tribe functioning steadily in this perilous world. Secondly, quickly acquiring and upgrading various powerful masks plays a crucial role in your survival.
Regarding Recent Updates
In fact, after the Next Fest and the Open Beta, our primary focus continues to be on developing rich game content to ensure that the Early Access version offers a substantial and engaging experience. We deeply value the extensive feedback from our players, particularly regarding significant improvements in the new player tutorial. Through multiple rounds of small-scale testing, we aim to identify further opportunities for optimization and address any existing bugs or performance issues. Additionally, we've conducted several rounds of small-scale PvP testing with the goal of refining specific PvP rules and enhancing the overall appeal of PvP gameplay..

If you have experienced the pervious test versions, you must notice our overall upgrading toturial guidance as we immediately started remaking it as soon as we received your feedback.

We've made several mask functions available in the early stages of the game, including the deter, recruit, and revival functions. Through multiple rounds of testing and playthroughs, we've continuously listened to player feedback and made adjustments accordingly. We're thrilled to see that players can now quickly recruit their own tribesemen, form tribes, and experience the core essence and most captivating aspects of Soulmask.
Regarding DLC
I understand you definitely want to know the post-launched contents after EA, especially DLC, regarding this aspect, to be honest I don't want to spoil any surprises. I can share that we're currently focused on improving our existing content and actively responding to player feedback. In the near future, we plan to release a free DLC for everyone, which will include new construction components, mask skins, and more exciting features.

Of course, I understand what you're eager to hear: Yes, we have already started working on a major DLC. What I can reveal at this point is that it will be extensive in scope. The rest remains a secret for now—stay tuned for some exciting surprises!

We've also heard your requests for mod support. It's on our agenda, and as a team with extensive experience in mod development, we'll share more details when the time is right.
About Gratitude
Last but not least, I want to say thank you to all of you who has ever made contributions for Soulmask:
—— Thank you——
Soulmask Final FAQ For EA
Are you ready? Chieftains!
The EA Phase is coming! To help you quickly familiarize with this new world, we'll post some of the most frequently asked questions and brief answers here. Without further ado, let's get started!
1. What kind of game is Soulmask?
Soulmask is a survival sandbox game that aims to deliver a "Real Experience." As the "last person" of a tribe empowered by mysterious masks, you'll eke out a living on this ancient land of mysterious cults and blaze your own trail to civilization. Explore, build, and recruit tribesmen to develop your clan from scratch.

Since it's an EA version, the current visuals, sound effects, performance, and other aspects are not definitive. We're doing our best to make this game better with your help!
2. What time will the Soulmask Early Access be released exactly?

Our EA version will be released at the following points globally: May 31st, 2024, 07:00 UTC
Due to reasons concerning review and release, the product's release time on the page may be adjusted slightly. Please stay tuned for community messages.
3. Is there a console version of Soulmask? Or it's only available in Steam.
We will only launch it on Steam, but we are also preparing to launch it on other platforms. To learn more about our further plans, please check our posts in the community.
4. What are the system requirements?
The EA's Minimum and Recommended requirements are as follows. You can also check the [System Requirements] on the store page at any time:
5. Will the game support DLSS/FSR?
Yes! We will support NVIDIA DLSS/AMD FSR

If the above function doesn't take effect, please update your graphics driver to the latest version, restart your computer, and try again.

Besides, there is a chance that you may encounter flashing and overexposure using DLSS in the EA version. FSR would be a better choice.
6. Will it support PC game consoles/Steamdeck?
In fact, Soulmask now has a controller/SteamDeck scheme, but after some testing, it has not met the expected experience.

Therefore, to ensure a good experience for all controller players, we will not publicly announce support for controllers and Steamdeck during the Early Access, but you can still use this unfinished feature. We are fully committed to optimizing it. In the near future, we will comprehensively enhance support for game controllers and Steamdeck!
7. In the EA, will there be Official PVP Servers?
Short answer: Yes. The PVP mode is still in EA's early gameplay test phase, and you may find some flaws, like the lag problem when the server is filled with players (it often happens when the online players are over 30). We'll constantly optimize the related content to provide a better experience.
8. What game modes will it provide?
The EA will release 4 modes: Solo Mode, LAN Online Mode for up to 8 players, PVE/PVP Official Server Mode and Private Servers
9. What are the rule details for the official server?
In light of users' demands, we'll optimize the official server categorization based on the former test. The details are as follows:

Note:Server Capacity, Building Damage Time, and other rules may be adjusted according to the actual server pressure and user feedback in the early EA. We'll post notices timely.

If you want to know the specific information about our first round servers, please click here.

For the first play, you might want to try Solo/Multiplayer Mode or rent an exclusive server to get a smoother experience. In the meantime, we'll keep optimizing the related content and make the official server better!
10. What areas will the official server cover?
The official servers for this EA include America Server, Europe Server and Asia Server.
11.I want to set up a dedicated server myself. How should I do it?
The private server providers GPORTAL and CLAWCLOUD now support one-click rental and configuration. The server rental links are as follows:

CLAWCLOUD GPORTAL

If you have your own server, check out this comprehensive tutorial we prepared for you. Click to learn more: Tutorial Link
12. My game crashed/got stuck!
Sorry for the frustrating game experience. Soulmask still has some unresolved compatibility issues during the EA phase. You can try verifying the game's integrity or restarting your computer. If the problem persists, you can visit our Official Discord to contact our staff. We'll solve it as soon as possible.
13. What is the reason behind the high lag in the official server?
The official online mode is still imperfect in the EA phase. When the server is swarmed with players, it activates many units on the map. Due to the precise action checks, combat may stutter or get stuck. We'll continue to optimize the related content to provide a smoother experience! If you encounter this issue, we suggest trying our Solo Mode, Multiplayer Mode, or Private Server first.
14. Don't know what to do when I first enter the game...
Don't worry, Soulmask has prepared a comprehensive tutorial to see you through the toughest early stage!

Or you can check out our Steam Guides for more guidance and strategies.
15. How can I seek out a specific material/animal?
In cooperation with the Wiki platform and FANDOM, we've prepared an exclusive Wiki for chieftains. This will release after EA launches!

You may refer to it for any in-game information. Since the Wiki is an open and ongoing project, your corrections and contributions are always welcome!
16. The crafting feels very grueling. How can I make it easier?
And that's where one of the main Soulmask features comes in: Tribesmen! By intimidating the wild barbarians, you can absorb them into your tribe. They can then help you with Gathering, Crafting, and other quests, even forming an entire automatic production line.

Don't know where to start? These tribesmen's strategies will definitely be of help!
17. What about the PVP Gameplay?
The PVP Mode revolves around freedom. You choose whatever game style you like, and there are no fixed PVP battles. Besides survival and combat, you may need to communicate, negotiate, and even build tribes or wage war with other players. We believe this will diversify the gameplay and give it more freedom, and we hope that players can fight fair and talk freely!

For new players, this mode can be exceedingly competitive, as they have to deal with threats from both nature and other players. This means that your Home, Resources, and Tribesmen are subject to attacks from other players. So new players are better off starting with Solo/Multiplayer Mode.
18. Does the PVP have Season Reset, Cross-Server, and other features?
PVP Season Reset is a common feature in many games, as it can enliven the game and make it more challenging. In Soulmask, the PVP Season will be reset after it ends, which means that the game data will be reset to give everyone the same start in the new season. The rules are as follows:

  • [PVP Season Span] The PVP Season will last about 120 days, and then it will be reset, and a new season will start. We'll still be testing the PVP mode during EA and may adjust the Reset Time accordingly. The adjustment notice will be released at least one month in advance. After confirmation, we'll change the [To be Announced] status to a specific date.
  • [PVP Cross-server Group] 21 days into the season, players of a server can teleport to another server in the same cross-server group. Please note that each independent server's Online Players Cap still stands.
  • [No season plans for the PVE Server for now] However, we may still make evaluations and adjustments during the EA Phase, and if there are any changes, we'll announce them at least 3 months in advance.
19. What about your future update plans?
At the early stages of EA, we have an initial blueprint for the future. Of course, we will make proper adjustments based on your feedback and the actual situation. For now, let's share our current "ambitions" with you:
20. How can I obtain the special mask (a reward for participating the previous tests) in the EA version?
Play Soulmask with the same Steam account used in the test, and raise the character to Lv.15 in any mode to unlock the Mask Decor Table. You can then equip mask appearances in the Special Mask section.

①: Raise the character to Lv.15 to unlock the Mask Decor Table. Craft and place Mask Decor Table

②: Open the Mask Decoration interface

③: Scroll down to the bottom and find Special Mask to equip mask appearances
21. I joined the test before, but why I can't get the special mask?
We noticed that some players entered the wrong Steam ID when claiming [New Mask Appearances], so their accounts can't activate them normally. Please go to our
Official Discord at and in the [#New Mask Appearance] Reissue Channel, enter your Steam ID and the tested character name. After verification, we'll reissue the [New Mask Appearance] for you in the next version.

May 31st! We Move The Release Date Forwards!
Hi Chieftains!
After cautious deliberation, we have exciting news to share:

They have diverse hobbies, ranging from smoking and drinking to singing and dancing.
They exhibit a diverse array of talents, from expert craftsmanship to formidable combat abilities. However, some are less fortunate—these unlucky individuals have a significantly lower chance of obtaining rare items.
They are not just for show; these tribesmen will assist you with daily tasks, stand by your side in battle, and even engage in meaningful conversations.
300 Construction Components to Construct a Cozy Home
Building and survival are core elements of the game. The current version features four distinct construction phases, each with its own unique components. Many building elements are intricately designed based on real-world principles like wind power generation and beekeeping techniques, ensuring meticulous attention to detail.

Additionally, you can cultivate a diverse range of crops and raise various livestock, enabling you to create an array of unique dishes. Why not become a gourmet chef in the rainforest?

There are still many designs that haven't been mentioned yet, and we look forward to everyone experiencing them in the game. Soulmask offers a relaxed yet captivating experience that unfolds gradually. So, pour yourself a glass of wine and take your time to savor the unique charm of Soulmask.
By releasing the EA version early, our intention was to introduce the game to a larger player base at an earlier stage in order to gather more extensive feedback. This allows us to collaborate with everyone in refining and constructing this world together.

We are committed to delivering the best possible experience, even after launching the EA version! Currently, our main focus is on perfecting key elements such as combat mechanics—of great concern to all—improving server performance, fine-tuning PVP dynamics, and more. After releasing the EA version, we will actively seek your valuable feedback for future updates. Your continued support means everything to us!
So mark your calendars for May 31st, fellow chieftains! Together, we'll forge an even greater Soulmask!
As the EA approaches, we invite content creators to come together and explore diverse gameplay from multiple perspectives. We encourage everyone to visit platforms like Youtube, Twitch, and Steam store and so on to get an exclusive preview of this exciting world!

Maggie and the entire Soulmask team

Soulmask May 1st Open Beta Appreciation and Suggestions Response
Hi Chieftains!
This is your friend Maggie! Thank you all for your support of Soulmask over the last two weeks!

During this demo, we had 83,995 chieftains participate in the game, dedicating 908,680 hours to playing Soulmask. Here is the gameplay data that we all contributed to creating:

  • The Saber-toothed Predator has been defeated 20,236 times, and the word has spread among the Bosses in the game: "You are all formidable masked battle maniacs!”
  • 344,364 tribesmen have joined our ranks, ensuring that the flame of our tribe will never die out!
  • 4,164 jaguars have been tamed, establishing us as the undisputed kings of the jungle!

While this demo only offers a sneak peek into the game, it's evident that there has been a significant improvement in the overall gaming experience compared to the Next Fest version. For instance:

1. The tribesmen have become more lively. Our tribesmen now possess diverse talents, emotions, hobbies, and actions. In addition to their work duties, you may find them smoking and drinking, dancing with joy, or even chatting with you. Before they were mere workers; now they feel like a part of your family.

2. Our "home" has become even cozier. We've introduced a bunch of new gadgets, and I'm sure you've all noticed them too! From toilets and double beds to animal tethering posts and archery targets... Oh, and let's not forget about the notice board! Many chiefs were using the notice board to mark their territory in the game. It's so cool!

3. Have your tried the new mastery? From the powerful heavy strike of the Hammer, to the swift slide of the Giant Sword, and expert archery skills... Get ready for some serious carnage!

4. The information is now presented more clearly. Previously, players needed help understanding the functions and rules of items due to unclear information and lack of proper guidance. I found myself in a similar situation, constantly bombarding Peter with questions about the "why" and "how" daily.

Before this demo, we improved the beginner's experience, tutorial guide, and certain interface descriptions to make information clearer overall. As players have pointed out in their discussions:

At first, being a total beginner, I was worried about mastering the complicated mechanics and navigating the vast Soulmask world. However, to my delight, Soulmask offered thorough and carefully crafted tutorial that made me feel as though a seasoned veteran player was gently leading me through each step. ——RukiooQ

5. Stamina will no longer keep you from exploring the Soulmask world! The chief must have been hitting the "Rainforest Gym" hard for months because your physical fitness has been significantly boosted! Your stamina now lasts longer, and you recover more quickly. This upgrade will help everyone climb and sprint with greater ease and endurance.
……
We are continuously working on new content, and this demo was a special gift from our development team. We hope everyone enjoys it!

However, we must admit that we still have many shortcomings. There have been a lot of issues raised in the questionnaires and community feedback. To my surprise, we have compiled a total of 1,376 pieces of feedback. We have cross-checked these issues with the developers one by one, which is why I am only sending this letter of thanks today. Regarding the mentioned experience issues, most of them have already been included in the iteration development schedule, and some features have been implemented during the EA period (there are so many that some contents will continue to be iterated after EA).

I would like to talk with everyone about the main issues and the corresponding iteration plans:
Q1: The beginner's guide didn't teach me much. - It could have been more newbie-friendly.
Having clear guides on how to master the menu, crafting progression, building, follower interactions and assignments, and best tasks during the very early game-play.——Phortelle(Player)

We introduced a practical beginner's guide compared to the previous Next Fest version. However, we recognize the need for further improvement. We are now revamping the entire beginner task process from scratch. We will fine-tune the beginner tasks to sync up with the gaming flow. This way, players can pick up "crucial gameplay skills" and get a handle on "key game goals" through these tasks.

Also, we've found that one of the most frustrating experiences for new players is losing all their gear and progress when they die. To tackle this issue in the EA version of the game, we're introducing 5 new respawn points near Ruins located in the central and western regions of the Rainforest. This change will allow players to respawn quickly at more advanced locations on the map. Moreover, players can reclaim their Death Package immediately upon revival (this feature can be adjusted in single-player, LAN, or private server modes). However, carrying extra campfires in your inventory is still recommended as a safety measure.
Q2: Why are my tribesmen slacking off? - The workflow of tribesmen tasks is not agile enough.
Tribesmen are a vital source of enjoyment for us in games, but as many players have pointed out, the current workflow is not very smooth yet:

Clunky interface, annoyances when crafting. Could be more streamlined. Recruiting NPCs is great but setting them to tasks isn't. A better task overview page with clearer settings so you can simply set minimums/continuous work on a single page would be great.——Tacha(Player)

To address concerns regarding the productivity of tribesmen, we have conducted a comprehensive analysis and implemented measures for continuous improvement in the EA version.

On the one hand, the unclear status of the tribesmen makes it challenging to tell whether they have understood our instructions. Based on this, we will add an indication of their work status. After receiving instructions, the tribesmen will provide you with feedback. Even if they cannot complete tasks (such as due to lack of tools or insufficient gatherable resources nearby), they will promptly give us feedback.

On the other hand, we have also noticed that the tribesmen information interface needs improvement. In the upcoming version, we enhance it to provide clear explanations of button functions and interface details. Additionally, we will introduce filtering functions in specific interfaces (such as tribe event categorization filters) to facilitate more accessible access to content related to tribesmen with enhanced clarity.

I used to run after tribesmen, try to keep them in check as well. But now, when I engage with them, they pause and await my instructions.

In addition, the tribesmen have enhanced their combat skills. Previously, they would scatter in fear when faced with danger. Now, arm them for battle!
Q3: Optimization for the new player’s nightmare: Anaconda and Jaguar
We have always strived for realistic and diverse biological features in the game. However, sometimes, being too true to life can also pose challenges. The recently added anaconda has quickly become a new source of fear for players, joining the ranks of the jaguar. After some convincing, Royce has significantly reduced their lethality:
  1. Say goodbye to almost all the jaguars that used to creep along the path from the newbie spawn area to the two tribes. When starting in this game, many of us rush towards Flint Tribe and Claw Tribe, but Jaguars constantly ambush us. But fear not! This scenario will become rare in the new version. Moreover, there are now fewer Jaguars near the Rift Valley. However, plenty of these majestic predators still roam freely on the west side of the Rainforest, so proceed with caution!
  2. Besides jaguars, we've also moved the water-side anacondas. You might be wondering, "Where did all the anacondas go?" Well, they're now lurking in a special respawn zone that I like to call "Snake Island." And here's a little secret: ZIMA has prepared a huge surprise (or scare) for everyone on the island.
  3. Furthermore, we have lowered the difficulty level when facing specific anacondas and jaguars. So, next time you come across them, why not muster up some courage and take them on?
Q4: Baa! Baaaaa! Who wouldn't want to have a baby alpaca right from the start?
I've heard that the nomads have managed to get their hands on some baby Alpacas (apparently, there are 5 nomad groups in total, all situated at the ruins). If you fancy starting your adventure with a cuddly Alpaca by your side, why not visit them for a friendly "chat"?

Furthermore, riding an alpaca is now "smoother" than ever, providing a more comfortable experience. And guess what? Alpacas can jump, too! Picture the thrill of riding your spirited alpaca as it leaps and darts among stone slabs. Just remember to be careful around cliffs!
Q5: Finding crafting too complex? - Concerns regarding the usability of the crafting process.
UI window to choose how many we would like to craft of and item.. dont just automatically make one or all.——Suggestions by Phoeinxrexx on Discord
UI is still clunky and has issues (queueing things like thick rope is a pain - it produces so quickly you don't have time to hit the + button to produce multiple items before it finishes and the pop-up description half obscures the + button)——ian.silver67(Player)

Yes, I faced some challenges with crafting too! To improve everyone's crafting efficiency moving forward, our lead designer, Royce has implemented the following interface adjustments:

  • The "right-click" functionality has been added to the inventory and crafting grid.
When using an item, you can open the right-click menu to perform actions such as "use, dismantle, transfer, and discard" with your items.
When crafting items, you can create 1, 10, or all of them at once. Alternatively, you can manually enter the desired quantity.
  • For locked crafting skills, you can now quickly jump to the learning interface. By double-clicking with the left or right mouse button and selecting "Locate on Tech Tree," you no longer have to switch back and forth between interfaces to find your locked skills.
Q6: This damn server is making me want to smash my computer! - Server optimization is a top priority and cannot be delayed any further!
During the Open Beta, several servers experienced multiple crashes. We deeply apologize to all affected players! We have pinpointed some causes and implemented optimizations to ensure a more stable gaming experience for everyone in the EA version. However, I must admit that I am uncertain about potential future issues (which makes me quite anxious), but rest assured, we are committed to ongoing improvements!

Besides the crashes, the server selection interface could be more user-friendly. We have recently improved the server list presentation by introducing a bookmark feature and enhancing sorting rules. These updates aim to help players easily find servers that best suit their needs.
Q7: Sound effects! Sound effects! Sound effects!
The sound effects in the game are currently not meeting our standards, which is why we've enlisted the expertise of a seasoned sound engineer to enhance the in-game audio professionally. Some of the planned improvements include:
  1. Environmental Sounds: Adjusting the environmental sounds is crucial. Some sounds, like campfires or rushing river water, maybe overly loud and disruptive. We will adjust their volumes accordingly. Moreover, we will fix any abrupt sound cut-offs, like those in the rain or background music.
  2. Battle Sound Effects: Enhancing the sound effects for each weapon type, including reflecting, executing attacks, defending, and key actions like entering combat, low HP alerts, and falling.
  3. Further additions to the sound effects: From the UI beeps to the creak of opening and closing doors, from the rustle of planting plants to the frenzy of piranhas feeding in the water, even down to the sound of a character stepping into a bathtub or using the toilet.
……
There are still many aspects to work on, and I am confident that there will be significant improvements in sound effects during the EA period.
Q8: Combat excitement takes too long to start! - We are working on optimizing early-stage combat so players can experience the thrill sooner.
The experience of battling in Soulmask is quite fascinating. With various weapons and combat skills at your disposal, immersing yourself in the gameplay lets you fully appreciate the excitement of combat! Like many players, including myself, we were initially unsure how to reflect and evade enemies' attacks. We often felt that our timing in responding was off. After closely monitoring players' Twitch streams and carefully reviewing feedback on combat experiences, we have already made some adjustments:

  1. Add combat tips to the lower right corner of the main interface so players can quickly grasp various weapon techniques like charged heavy strikes, jump attacks, lock-on, rolling, defense, and other combat skills to enjoy the thrilling battles in Soulmask fully.
  2. Speed up the playback of animations related to overall combat.
  3. Adjust the start and stop speeds to enhance responsiveness during movement.
  4. Rolling now triggers an invincibility effect from the moment it is activated, extending the duration from 0.5 seconds to 0.8 seconds.
  5. Enhance the auxiliary effect judgment for reflect/perfect defense.
  6. The problem with character running and the inability to climb slopes has been optimized. We look forward to everyone experiencing this in the EA version.

We're committed to continually improving the battle experience. Everyone should help us out by spotting any issues in the EA version so we can refine the combat experience together.

I'll wrap up here since we've touched on many topics, and I want to keep this article concise. In addition to the issues discussed, several other elements are currently being optimized! And here's a little teaser: a new CG is in the works, and I can't wait to see it myself!

Let’s meet again in the EA version!
