Happy New Year! It's been a while since the last Soulmask FAQ, but with the release of the "Wild Dash" update, many new Chiefs have reached out with fresh questions—of course, if you want to review some of the topics we've covered before, you can check out our previous FAQ here:

Once again, we've invited ZIMA, the producer of Soulmask, to address some of the most common feedback we've been seeing in the community and comments. Most of these issues will be addressed in future game updates. Without further ado, let’s dive into the main topics!


[h3]1. My Soulmask keeps crashing. What should I do?[/h3]

First, we sincerely apologize for the crashes you've been experiencing. We've received a lot of feedback about frequent crashes recently. We've identified a few possible causes to help you quickly troubleshoot the issue.

① Game package download errors or disk storage issues causing data reading errors and crashes

Solution:
  • Verify the integrity of the game files on Steam.
  • Optimize and defragment your disk, and if possible, store the game on a solid-state drive (SSD).


② Insufficient computer memory (less than 16GB) or disabled virtual memory on your computer, causing the game to crash due to memory exhaustion.

Solution:

Close unnecessary programs while gaming, and enable or increase the virtual memory on your PC.

③ Graphics card failure or device error causing the game to crash.

Solution:
  • Ensure your graphics card drivers are up to date.
  • For cards with less than 4GB of VRAM, reduce the resolution or graphics settings.
  • Try switching to DirectX11 or DirectX12 to launch the game.
  • If none of the above works, try launching the game in SafeMode.

[h3]2. The glider is fun, but there's a downside: it has a slight magnetic attraction to the ground, making it hard to take off unless the slope is steeper than 90 degrees[/h3]

Improve ASAP! We've noticed that the glider doesn't work properly on lower-angle slopes, which is partly related to the character's weight. We're working on an optimization to ensure it works smoothly.

[h3]3. Although I know Soulmask only supports certain controllers, it's still quite difficult to navigate the crafting interface![/h3]

Designing controller support has always been a challenge, especially with the UI overhaul. We'll make it a top priority of our long-term optimization plan for "Soulmask" to improve the controller experience.

Chieftains, feel free to share the most frustrating controller issues you encounter in the comments so we can prioritize their optimization.

[h3]4. There are still too few buildings available. Can we expect more to be added?[/h3]

Of course! More building components and a wider range of decorations are certainly on our to-do list!

Additionally, we're focusing on improving the convenience of the building process. We plan to introduce features like building blueprints and quick construction, along with further optimization of alignment logic for building components. Of course, it will take some time, but we believe it won't be long before you see these improvements!

[h3]5. The tutorial in Soulmask seems complicated, and a lot of things aren't explained, making it really tough for new players![/h3]

With the release of the "Wild Dash" update and the influx of new players, the issue of player guidance has been raised once again. Let's talk about how we plan to overhaul the guidance system in future updates.

In the new version, we plan to introduce a new NPC — the residual consciousness of the initial Soulmask. This NPC will engage in more interactive dialogues with the Chieftains, providing a more natural way for new players to immerse themselves in the world.

For more complex systems, and everything related to Soulmask shards, we plan to integrate the wiki content directly into the game, creating an accessible in-game knowledge base for players. If you're unsure how to obtain a certain material, you'll be able to find the answer directly within the game, without needing to switch to your browser for a search.

[h3]6. When the player character is resurrected, followers will automatically cancel their deployment status, unless you risk your life to approach and redeploy them. Otherwise, they will die in battle![/h3]

[h3]7. Followers are too easily killed by traps. Can we improve their situation?[/h3]

Improve ASAP! We've decided to tackle both of these issues together. As you know, Soulmask has always made tribesmen our key feature, which naturally includes the followers as a part of our combat system. Therefore, improving their AI behavior and enhancing player control will be one of our major focuses in future updates.

This includes a better tribesmen control system and enhanced AI behavior: from issuing commands, idle animations, and following modes, to reacting autonomously in various dangerous situations. This also includes how followers react after the player's death.

As for dealing with traps, we will address this within the week! For now, we'll resolve this issue with the following two methods:

  • Reduce trap damage to non-player characters
    Increase the followers' ability to avoid traps, especially when in various states, they will develop an awareness to evade them.

Though we've mentioned this several times, our ultimate goal for followers remains the same: to be the best assistants for Chieftains in any battle. We will keep working towards this goal.

Soulmask Early Access Regular Update 34

Dear Chieftains,

Happy New Year! To provide a better gaming experience, the server will undergo maintenance. It will be temporarily unavailable starting from January 9, at 7:00 AM UTC, with an expected downtime 45 minutes. This update includes a client update, and chieftains will need to update their client to enjoy the game normally. We are very grateful for your understanding and support.

The update details are as follows:

[h3]【Adjustments and Bug Fixes】[/h3]

Added a light sensitivity setting. If you find certain flashing effects uncomfortable, you can disable them by enabling the setting.

Added a tribe leader impeachment feature. Leaders who have been offline for 7 days can be impeached by any noble or priest. If the leader does not log in within 24 hours after the impeachment is initiated, the person who initiated the impeachment will become the new leader.

All plantable items will use a DataTable for Mod compatibility.

Optimized Crossbow Tower, improving its shooting accuracy and defensive capability against gliding units.

Eggs will continue to hatch even when the player is away.

Fixed the issue where there is a small chance that the player's actual status may not match the spirit interface while sleeping.

Fixed AI issues where NPCs get stuck under certain conditions during battles.

Optimized the animation of certain skills.

Reduced damage from piercing traps in Ruins and Dungeons, significantly decreasing damage to non-player-controlled NPCs.

Added AI feedback upon taking trap damage. Tribesmen and mounts will automatically run away, while deployed tribesmen will run toward their master's location.

Turned off all sound effects when the game is paused in single-player mode.

Adjusted Ice Cellar's Durability Recovery Speed

Fixed the issue where the enemies spawned from Boss's Death or Chest Opening events wouldn't disappear after hibernation

Fixed the issue where the animals or barbarians obtained from Server World Events would disappear after hibernation

Fixed the issue where Moose carrying men would enter hibernation, and after hibernation, the carried men exhibited incorrect behavior

Fixed the issue where after hitching the mount was interrupted, it’d be stuck at Hitching Post’s moving state

Fixed the issue where the items that should have been sorted into chests remained in the tribesman's inventory after switching assignments

The quality of eggs will no longer display on the Domesticate interface; eggs are now slaughterable

The boar saddle is now craftable at the default Armor Forging Table; an upgraded table is no longer necessary.
The temperature decrease after transforming into a snowman has been adjusted from 20° to 10°.
The server's max load coefficient now influences the maximum load of gliders.
The tribesman’s item sorting task can now manage the Mystery Converter.
Only satiety-inscreasing food items are displayed in the Pen - Trough settings.
Gender ratio adjustments have been added to the Pen - Slaughter settings.
Added range display function to Feed and Water Troughs.
The build limit for Christmas Trees has been doubled.
Tribesmen will now auto-feed deterred characters lying in bed.
Female panthers will no longer attack targets in Resonance Mode.
The turning speed while riding a boar has been reduced.
Red crystals now have a protective cooldown between inlays.
The closing prompt for server events has been optimized.
Audio resources have been optimized to reduce memory usage and enhance performance.

[h3]【Bug Fixes and Optimizations】[/h3]

Fixed an issue where the tribesmen might get stuck when taking care of Mystery Converter.
Fixed an issue where mounts failed to calculate passenger weight.
Fixed repeated carry prompts when interacting with passenger-carried mounts in single-player mode.
Fixed abnormal stat bonuses for certain tribe attributes.
