I must say, from the feedback in the last two sessions, ZIMA has realized that we need to accelerate our update pace.

You may have already seen the latest patch we just released! We've added some highly requested features and fixes, including the Perfect Revival for tribesmen.

Of course, we still have a lot of your feedback on our calendar, and in this session, we aim to address some of your most pressing questions!

[h2]1.Bugs Reported:[/h2]

[h3]Q:My game suddenly crashed![/h3]

We sincerely apologize for this extremely unfortunate issue. We are diligently trying to resolve all crashing problems affecting our players. Please make sure you have submitted your crash log so that our team can analyze it and develop appropriate solutions.

In the meantime, verifying the integrity of your Steam client files, updating to the latest graphics driver, and confirming your Steam account is logged in correctly could potentially help.

[h3]Q:My Death Package dropped beneath the ground![/h3]

Previously, there was a chance that your Death Package could drop beneath the ground after death. However, this issue has been resolved in today's update.

[h3]Q:Why does my camera shake?[/h3]

Copy that. We've received reports of this bug that strains everyone's eyes. Rest assured, we're actively investigating the issue and will resolve it as soon as possible.

[h3]Q:My UI is extremely laggy![/h3]

To resolve this, please open "Game Settings," select "Language & Other," then scroll down to "Background Animation in the Game Interface" and set it to "Always Off."

[h3]Q:My little monkey is about to die due to starving...[/h3]

Currently, our little monkeys only eat food provided in the Feed Trough. In the upcoming update, they will find food sources on their own and won't consume your food and water resources.

[h3]Q:After respawn, I can't find the Portal in my Death Package![/h3]

Those sneaky portals kept mysteriously hopping out of chieftains' backpacks on their own, but we have implemented a fix to stop their mischievous behavior.

[h3]Q:My character disappeared after being defeated by the Anaconda![/h3]

The Anaconda is not only terrifying, but its special damage ability is currently causing issues. We are working diligently to resolve this and minimize the occurrence of these problems.

Exercise caution and avoid provoking them needlessly. If possible, defeat them from a safe distance during combat.

[h3]Q:My tribesmen are all gathered together on strike?[/h3]

Recently, the tribesmen's behaviors aren't abnormal, as if they're worshiping some mysterious entity other than the masks. We will correct their conduct within this week so they can resume working properly!

Of course, their refusal to work might also due to more immediate reasons. Make sure to monitor their moods and offer a diverse diet by providing at least two types of food from the following categories: staples, vegetables, and meat.

[h2]2. Suggestions from Chieftains:[/h2]

[h3]Q:Why can't the initial character be enhanced? [/h3]

As a sacrifice who escaped the tribal ritual, the initial character was simply lucky enough to obtain the mask. After uploading their awarenesses, they transcended them original self. The mask bestowed its powers upon the character.

This is why the initial character in Soulmask is unimportant, serving more as an "ultimate safeguard" when you're stripped of everything.initial physical form remains the ideal vessel for fusing with the mask, granting the ability that can be revived at any time and instantly be summoned at bonfires and resurrection devices.

However, we are considering enhancing some of the initial character's abilities to make this "ultimate safeguard" more appealing. This is still working in progress. Additionally, with the upcoming release of thePerfect Revival feature for tribesmen, you can now cultivate them for even the most perilous adventures without fear of losing them permanently!

[h3]Q:I find those flying monsters, such as the Horned Eagle, are too powerful![/h3]

These winged foes can be quite vexing, but they are manageable once you understand their attack patterns. They typically dive for a single strike before quickly retreating. Here are some tips:

  • Attack with ranged weapons (Bow, Throwing Axe) as they leave.
  • Launch a remote attack as they approach, then immediately roll to safety.
  • Use the Spear's inherent skill, "Ultimate Throw," to knock them down directly from the air!
  • With the Hammer's inherent skill, you can face their attacks head-on and counterattack, provided you can endure the impact.


We'll also optimize the game by adding map markers for elite Horned Eagles. Don't be intimidated—stay sharp, Chieftains, and you'll defeat them!

[h3]Q:I hope we can customize the load multiplier.[/h3]

We do have plans to support this. However, due to the current complexity of our load coefficients, we need to optimize the UI first before adding more customization options.

[h3]Q:Some cheaters took out our entire team![/h3]

Soulmask guards the fairness of our official servers fiercely. Our approach to any actions that undermine this fairness is clear-cut:

Our anti-cheat team actively bans detected cheaters on a daily basis. Rest assured, we will progressively increase the severity of these bans to ensure fair gameplay for all.

[h3]Q:As a private server admin, I need more support![/h3]

Soulmask Early Access Hotfix 02

Dear Chieftains,

To provide a better gaming experience, the server will undergo maintenance. It will be temporarily unavailable starting from June 7, at 8:00 AM UTC, with an expected downtime of 30 minutes. This update includes a client update, and chieftains will need to update their client to enjoy the game normally. We are very grateful for your understanding and support.
The update details are as follows:


[h2][Major Updates][/h2]

  • The Perfect Remodel Switch will unlock in Solo mode/Friends mode/Private Server. After their data is recorded at the Mysterious Stone Table, the tribesmen can be remodeled and revived upon death, retaining their Level, Proficiency, and Talent Affixes from before death. The latest recorded tribesman data will be used when reviving a tribesman.
  • In Solo mode/Friends mode/Private Server, you can adjust the Tribesmen Cap that can be recorded via Info Entry Coefficient.
  • No parts are needed to record Tribesmen Info at Mysterious Stone Table (Remodeling Tribesmen still needs equipping parts)
  • Adjust the recruitment rules for tribesmen: when a tribe has more than 10 players, the total number of recruitable tribesmen increases by 1 for each additional player.


[h2][Experience Optimizations][/h2]

  • Support for a new "Timed Enemy Respawn Switch" in Solo/LAN/Private Server modes: When this switch is turned off, enemies will not respawn while there are players in the Barrack. The switch is off by default.
  • Now, the camp will notify players before barbarians respawn.
  • The 5 main bosses have different appearances depending on the difficulty level.
  • Further optimized the cast backswing interruption
  • When holding a blade or a torch, players can attack while looking up or down.
  • The exclusive talent "Steel Body" for Flint has been adjusted to be obtainable by combat professions of the Claw, Flint, and Fang tribes. The general talent "Firm Will" has been adjusted to be exclusive to the Flint tribe.
  • Now, when tribesmen take items, they will also take them from beehives and dismantling stations.
  • No need to tick "Set the queue as Circulating Queue". It’ll auto-toggle Circulating Queue when you click Confirm
  • Pen will show the animal's quantity
  • Ballista won't attack the animal caught by traps
  • Work Broadcast will only be sent to Tribe Channel at the start and end. At other times, it'll only show above the head
  • Patrolling tribesmen will no longer attack animals caught in traps.
  • Player-owned monkeys will no longer die of thirst or hunger; they will take care of themselves.
  • The types and quantities of feathers required to unlock certain feather decorations have been adjusted, making them easier to unlock now


[h2][Difficulty Adjustments][/h2]

  • "Casual" and "Easy" difficulty damage coefficients have been adjusted. (Existing players with saved files need to click "Advanced Settings" - "Restore All Coefficients to Default" to update to the latest coefficients.)
  • "Casual" and "Easy" difficulties now have "Player-built Teleporters for Material Transport," "Move Death Bag to Player's Feet Upon Revival" switches, and "Perfect Remodel Tribesman" enabled by default.
  • Reduced HP of Wolf, Wasteland Wolf, and Arctic Wolf
  • Reduced the hatred passing distance and hearing of Plunderers in Rainforest Ruins
  • Enhanced yield chance and output of rubber in the ground ruins of Rainforest
  • The material yield chances for tribal gear will increase


[h2][Regarding Private Server Management][/h2]

[h2][Mount Optimizations][/h2]

  • After dismount, it'll revert to the armed status as it was before mounting by default
  • Enhanced mount speed (the speeds of the corresponding wild creatures also increase slightly)
  • Fixed the issue where the remaining captured mounts and pets couldn't be controlled by anyone after the owner's character was deleted
  • Fixed the issue where while pressing "=" to keep walking, the mount still walks away on its own after dismount


[h2][Optimized Process of Capturing Jaguars][/h2]

  • Reduced quantity of jaguar footprints you need to collect
  • Reduced time needed to track down female jaguars
  • Extended tracking failure countdown
  • Shortened female jaguar's field of view
  • Increased distance needed to track down female jaguars
  • Added an notification - "Finding food (tracking)", when players are within the range of tracking female jaguars
  • Changed the notification when players are too far away and exceed the Max Tracking Distance
  • Shortened female jaguar spawn area properly, reduced chance of female jaguars getting stuck in terrains


[h2][Regarding Bugs][/h2]

  • Fixed the issue where player can’t enter the room if its password contains special characters
  • Fixed the issue where Anti-climb Thorns are ineffective
  • Fixed the issue where while carrying the NPC and being squeezed to death by Anaconda cause the NPC becomes abnormal
  • Fixed the issue where carrying people is abnormal while sitting on a Grass Mat/Stool
  • Fixed the issue of abnormal display of preview window after hiding the mask
  • Fixed the issue of characters getting stuck in Holy Ruins of Rift Valley
  • Fixed the issue where while Durability Cost is disabled, the durability of collecting tools is still deducted
  • Fixed the incorrect damage instances of the Spear Mastery "Overturn"
  • The bag dropped underground due to anomalies will be teleported beside the character’s feet
  • Fixed the issue of the disappeared portal in Death Package
  • Fixed the issue of no mineral output when reviving and returning to the mine point to continue to mine
  • Fixed the issue where when the player returns home with debuffs, tribesmen would stop working and prepare to fight
  • Fixed the issue where when tribesmen are in a low mood, they'd stop working and keep switching tools
  • Fixed the issue of the overly high movement speed of little panthers
  • All animals under the player’s name are cleared when character is deleted
  • Fixed the issue where Mysterious Tisane can be used on tribesmen that are not the original character created by player

It’s me, Peter again, back with another Q&A session as our team is currently tackling waves of bugs! I'm sure these questions are still on your mind.

Starting this time, we’re dividing the FAQ into two parts: feedback about bugs impacting your gaming experience, and suggestions for improvements.

No more chatter, ZIMA and I are ready:

[h3]Q: I can't get into the game! It's stuck on the loading screen[/h3]

A: We're aware of this issue and are making every effort to ensure that everyone can enjoy Soulmask.
There's already a proven solution in our community. Please join our discord.

We're also rolling out a new "Protection Mode" pretty soon, which will kick in automatically when this happens, making sure everyone gets to experience the new game world!

[h3]Q: My death package disappeared after my character died![/h3]

This is a serious issue. For some players, the "Time multiplier for Auto-Destruction of Death Packages" coefficient has been incorrectly adjusted to 0, causing death packages to disappear immediately after death.

If you encounter this issue while playing solo or on private server, please follow these steps:

Go to Advanced Settings and reset all systems to default settings.

Next, go back to Advanced Settings and adjust the "Time multiplier for Auto-Destruction of Death Packages" coefficient to 0. Save the changes.

Return to Advanced Settings and adjust the "Death Package Auto-Destruction Time" coefficient to the desired time.

If you want the death package to exist for a longer time, be sure to increase the coefficient! We're working on a fix to prevent this issue and expect it to be resolved within a week.。

[h3]Q: The tribesmen often get stuck, and they're too stupid![/h3]

A: We get it—this is an issue that requires time to improve. We are still figuring out ways to optimize the AI of the tribesmen. For now, you can try holding down "E" to reset their positions to resolve the issues.Of course, a larger construction layout can solve this problem; as overly compact crafting tables in an area raise the probability of encountering this problem.

In addition, rest assured about your tribesmen's work efficiency when you are out exploring. Your tribesmen won't slack off even if they get stuck!

[h3]Q: The mother panther always gets stuck when I'm trying to capture a panther cub. Also, I've already adjusted the rarity coefficient, so why haven't I gotten a black panther yet?[/h3]

A: We understand the frustration of not being able to successfully capture mounts. Our team have gathered coordinates for some of the problematic areas and will try our best to fix the terrain issues. Catching mounts will get a whole lot easier for everyone! As for the rarity issue, the parameter settings were ineffective – that was definitely a bug, and we've already fixed it in yesterday's update.

[h3]Q: Why are the mineral models still there, but I can't collect them?[/h3]

Currently, a small number of players are experiencing "air minerals." We'll address this issue as soon as possible, hopefully this week. For now, single-player players can try restarting the game to resolve this issue.

[h3]Q: Not supporting FOV in a 2024 game is unacceptable![/h3]

A: We're working on it! However, it's important to note that adjusting FOV requires careful consideration of its impact on art assets and visual style. This may take some time.

Adjusting FOV may cause minor issues. To ensure game stability and performance, we've decided to temporarily disable FOV settings. We'll consider adding this setting in the future, but we'll prioritize ensuring its quality before enabling it, which might take some time.

Currently, the game does offer a feature to change the camera distance in the settings. You can try that out. Besides modifying the game files to adjust FOV yourself, we'll also provide a quick way to do it soon. However, these modifications may cause minor issues. Feel free to modify it if you don't mind these potential problems.

[h3]Q: The anacondas are so terrifying! I'm scared of snakes![/h3]

We understand, snakes aren't everyone's favorite. But don't worry, anacondas are very slow, so they're basically like avoidable obstacles—you don't really want to get close to them unless necessary. Also, we have concentrated their spawning areas on the island in the mangrove forests.

Maybe we should place a "Beware of Anacondas" sign...

At the same time, we're also tweaking the anacondas' attacks to be less intimidating, for a more comfortable gameplay experience.

[h3]Q: Why does fighting the BOSS in a group only drop one unit of materials? We have to fight the BOSS several times![/h3]

A: We are considering adding a mechanism whereby teammates from the same tribe fighting the BOSS will enhance its difficulty, yet increase the drops to ensure each participant receives adequate essential items.

[h3]Q: My key bindings are constantly conflicting, we need more keybinding options! / I can't even enter a space when naming markers on the map..[/h3]

Got it. In fact, in yesterday's update, we already added some keybinding customization options. More customization options are on the way, including the space key.We are always committed to improving the UI, aiming to provide a smoother experience based on full functionality for our players.

[h3]Q: I'd like to see a backpack filtering feature, sorting by weight, acquisition time, rarity, etc.[/h3]

A: Got it! As mentioned, UI improvements are a constant focus for us! Backpack filtering and sorting optimization is already in the works, and we're currently testing its stability. Please give us a little more time, it'll be available soon.

[h3]Q: The diseases are too terrifying! I end up killing my entire tribe without even knowing it[/h3]

A: We've optimized the disease mechanism. Now they won't be as devastating.

[h3]Q: As the chieftain of a large tribe, having a limit of only 50 tribesmen is too few[/h3]

A: In the future, we will consider a mechanism where the tribesmen limit slightly increases with each new member added. The main issue here is fairness, so please give us more time to make these adjustments

[h3]Q: During the official server's PVP hours, why can't I deal damage to buildings?[/h3]

A: First, you need to ensure your battering rams are powerful enough to damage enemy buildings: lower tech-level rams are ineffective against higher tech-level walls.
