Following the success of local co-op in Doom & Destiny Worlds, we're thrilled to announce that we're now diving into the development of ONLINE co-op for our latest bombastic adventure: Nerd Survivors!

While we could boast about all the performance improvements and bug fixes in this update, we're going to focus on one thing: the MAP!



It will display important items in the level once you discover them, such as secret treasures, healing items, or power-ups. Treasure chests are also recorded for future playthroughs, so you won't forget about them!

Nerd Survivors Patch Notes - 22nd March Update: Spring into Action!

Spring is in the air, and with the season of renewal comes an exciting update for Nerd Survivors, just in time for some Spring gaming! As the flowers bloom, so does our game with fresh improvements, fixes, and additions aimed to enhance your experience.



Let's dive into what's new and improved:
  • Sound Enhancements: The UZI pickup sound effect now plays correctly. Never miss the cue that you've got the firepower you need!

  • Visual Clarity: We've made significant improvements to visibility and clarity:

    • The player's HP bar will no longer be obscured by bullets or attacks, ensuring you can keep a close eye on your survival chances.
    • Introducing new HP bars for both Players and Bosses, adding to the intensity and clarity of each battle.
    • Added a bit of flashing to the homing bullets from the Georama midboss, making them stand out for a fair challenge.
    • Backgrounds with the type of damage have been added to forge bullets, making your strategic choices even clearer.


  • Steam Deck Optimizations:

    • Increased the size of some menu texts and in-game texts to improve readability on the Steam Deck, making your play sessions seamless and more enjoyable.
  • Performance and Efficiency:

    • Improved efficiency on certain non-interactive objects and reduced all game graphics to a single texture atlas to enhance performance across the board.
  • Gameplay Adjustments:

    • When gaining Max-HPs from the Knight class or a character Perk, you are now healed for the same amount, giving you that much-needed boost in the heat of battle.
    • The HP bar has been adjusted to appear above most effects, and the Archetype unlocked window will now correctly display the close button.
    • Balanced how certain Archetype Forms calculate damage for a fairer fight.
    • Homing Boss bullets will now show above everything else, ensuring you see what's coming.


  • Quality of Life Fixes:

    • Corrected the message displayed at the first click on the Form change in the Modify menu of the Forge.
    • Fixed a rogue blood splat in the last Lampyridiae levels that always appeared vertically.
    • Using the 'Refund Last' button in the Upgrade menu will now correctly refresh the availability of other upgrades.
  • Localization Improvements:

    • Thanks to our incredible JP, we've improved some Russian translations, making Nerd Survivors more accessible to our global player base.

  • New Stage: Return to Lampyridae!
  • More Nerds: the Lich, Mr. Underwear, Hot Line guy and Mutant Ninja!
  • New Archetype Forms: Bring awe and destruction with the Bye Blade, Art Attack, Dark Eidous or Helping Hand.
  • New Upgrades: add even more customizable options to your Forge weapons.


[h3]Gameplay Improvements:[/h3]
  • Added Mimicrab animation to better convey the transformation from chest to monster
  • Fixed wrong death animation for Doom
  • Visual Upgrade for the coin sack and pickup animation
  • New background animation for the Weapon Level Up
  • Solved, gold multiplier and exp multiplier was not stacking as expected
  • Improved the fog effect in the new maps.
  • Now the preview of boss attacks appears in front of the map lighting conditions.
  • Added a reminder for review on title and after quit (togglable)
  • The game will no longer get stuck for a second when first entering a rain or storm area.
  • Significantly improved the performance in certain endgame scenarios.
  • Added missing translations
  • During atmospheric events gameover now is correctly tinted red
  • Forge: after saving new projectile changes, the preview is not updated immediately
  • Added lights on powerup machinegun and ice
  • Now you should no longer see the larger enemy spawn on the bottom of the level
  • Turn off powerup lights if level has illumination turned off
  • Added specific behaviour on friendship, now it throws only unlocked players
  • Replaced Unlocks menu with Upgrade menu
  • Cozy Violet now has the correct perks
  • Improved the behaviour of destructable environment when hit by a moltitude of strikes
  • Solved: Lights don't light some elements, like trap pools left by enemies and debris on the ground
  • Solved: After resetting a game on steam even if I collect a correct number of berries, happy hours and second breakfast didn't unlock (they are unlocked after restart)
  • Steam Solved: After resetting progress when I unlock first prototype killing the boss name shown was the one of the last prototype customized and not the default
  • Solved: Upgrades available but the Upgrades in menu are not yellow
  • Added hover state to option's toggles (onoff)
  • Solved: regen doesn't appear correctly in pause menu (I have both 1 permanent point and 3 class level)

Patch-a-Nerd 3'000

Three weeks post-launch, we're excited to roll out a scheduled patch packed with essential fixes and enhancements for Nerd Survivors. This update focuses on performance improvements, especially on advanced maps and high refresh rate screens, restoring stuck achievements, and significant balancing tweaks for character perks and overall difficulty.

  • Achievements Restoration: If the trubblings ate your Steam Achievements, fear not! A new 'Restore Progress' button in the game options lets you restore them.
  • Update System Overhaul: We've switched to a new, more stable update system, addressing the game timer lag issue and optimizing for various frame rates.
  • Visual and Gameplay Improvements:

    • Reduced Fartomancy effects to declutter the screen.
    • Enhanced pickup icon readability on the 'Survived' screen.
    • Improved font spacing and added special glyphs for better localization support.
    • Slight rework on the weapon type frame for better recognition (ongoing effort).
    • Performance boosts during weather effects like rain and snow.
  • Gameplay Tweaks and Balances:

    • Adjusted damage, drop rates, and difficulty settings across several elements of the game to provide a smoother and more engaging experience.
    • Specific challenges and enemy behaviors have been rebalanced for a fair challenge.
  • Quality of Life Updates:

    • Numerous fixes for bugs affecting collection challenges, class unlocks, and screen effects.
    • Enhanced stats summary visibility, fixed scrolling issues, and improved forge navigation.
    • Adjustments to screen effects, sheep follower behaviors, and weapon selection in the forge for an improved gameplay experience.
  • Localization and Aspect Ratio Fixes:

    • Completed translations for class descriptions and enemy wave announcements.
    • Addressed display issues on uncommon screen aspect ratios, including the Steam Deck.
