Developer log & previews & special wallpapers

Hi everyone! I thought Friday would be a great day to share a few words and some preview renders.

Honestly, I’m really happy with what we’ve created so far. This update has also been moving along quite fast – we’ve finished all the scripts (the writer is already working on episode 5.0). We’ve completed 4 scenes and we’re working on more scenes and animations now.

That’s the good news. The not-so-good news is that things will slow down a bit for the next few weeks. Not because of any problems, but because I need to spend more time at my firefighter job for the next 3 weeks.

And on top of that… I’m getting married to my lovely blonde fiancée on May 31! So I won’t have much time to make new renders for a while.

Other artists are still trying to get into the rhythm of the team, but right now they only manage around 30–40 renders a month, which isn’t much help. Still, I hope things will improve every week.

I can’t give you a release date for update 4.2 yet, but it will definitely come after my wedding. The second half of the year should be much better for making updates.

And trust me—update 5.0 will be a banger, and things will only get better after that! That should be it, thank you for your trust and patience, it will be worth to wait.

...and as always, please, review the game on Steam and let me know you did it on discord, so I can add you to our lovely discord community!

Episode 4.2 - Progress Update

Hi there!
Is it time for a small update about version 4.2? Of course it is! As always, let’s start with a preview image:

As you can see, the scripts are going well. I think the full writing part (including the scripts) will be finished in about two weeks - so by the end of the month. The main idea for the update is already done - we know what we want to include and show you. The update will be similar in size to the last one, so if you’re not a fan of smaller updates, hang in there until version 5.0.

The graphic part is also moving forward nicely. We already have almost two full scenes done, a few animations, and some extra images (you’ll see some of them below). We’re also working on some surprises that will come in the second half of the year / and some near the end of the year too. I won’t reveal too much just yet, but we think you’ll like them!

For coding and testing, we’ve fixed previous bugs. Pole dancing is now even easier (and fixed), and other reported bugs should be sorted too.

That’s pretty much it for now. Progress is slow but steady, and the vision remains the same.

As always, if you haven’t already, please take a few seconds to leave a review on Steam. It really helps us a lot with the game’s development.

Episode Summary

Hey!

It's been a few days since the update, so it's time for a few words from me and a little summary. As always, the feedback has been mixed—some people say things like "small update," "we waited so long for this," "where are the sex scenes?" or "this update brought nothing new."

Over the years of working on Visual Novels, I’ve learned one thing—people will always complain, and it will never be enough, no matter how much time, effort, and energy go into making them happy. Even a small update takes weeks or months of constant work—writing scripts, rendering, animating, coding, fixing issues—it’s not a quick process. And hiring artists who can maintain the required quality isn't an option, which is why it takes time. Every month, we put more hours into this project than we actually have, often at the cost of our personal lives.

...but I’m getting carried away—that’s not what this post was supposed to be about. Most of you expect an update to be packed with sex scenes, which makes sense since this is an adult game. But many people don’t understand the importance of writing, building tension, structuring the story, and weaving different plotlines together. SoD has a lot of fans (and just as many haters) precisely because we take this approach. Everything is planned—we know where we’re going and won’t change direction just because someone expected something different from this update.

As I’ve said many times, Early Access is about supporting the developer. If you’re going to complain after every update that it was smaller than expected, maybe just wait a year and a half for the full release—then you can judge whether it was worth it or just trash.

I tend to focus too much on negative comments, which is one of my flaws, but I also want to thank those who leave positive feedback. The people who understand that even non-animated scenes that aren’t in the replay gallery still matter because they connect to future scenes and upcoming updates.

That’s all I wanted to say—Adult Visual Novel means both "Adult" and "Novel." If you're only here for one part, you’re going to be disappointed.

Anyway, have a great day!

Episode 4.1 - Change Log

Episode 4.1 is coming in just three days!

Hey everyone!

I won’t say the update is fully ready and we’re just waiting for the deadline - because honestly, we’ll be working non-stop for the next 72 hours, fixing more bugs than we expected. The last few days before release are always the most intense and stressful. But I’ve never delayed an update, and I’m not planning to start now!

So, the new update will be available in just three days!

Some of you have asked how many save files you’ll need to see all possible outcomes. We believe too many branching paths can be overwhelming. Some choices will have a big impact (like cheating or truth decisions with Mike), while others will mainly affect dialogue and character reactions rather than creating entirely different renders. That means your choices from the previous update will shape how characters interact with you, but the overall scenes will remain similar.

Personally, I’m really proud of the new D&D scene. I know not everyone is a fan of this storyline, but the animations and renders are top-notch - you’ll feel like you’re in a real fantasy world!

Back to work now - see you soon!
