Blacksmith: Ignite the Forge News

Stone and steel to you, Blacksmiths!

[p][/p][p][/p][p][/p]
As our team works on the final touches of the game, the forge grows eager for your arrival.
[p]
We’ve worked tirelessly to provide you with the right tools, and so it is time for you to write the next chapter of dwarven legacy. [/p][p][/p]
New stuff in the Forge
[p]With over 18 new (27 altogether) weapons for you to smith , sharpen, and enchant, nothing will stand in the path of your warriors. Take a peek at some of them!
[/p][p][/p][p]But there is more! You can now rebuild the forge to its former glory. Not only that. You can go beyond that! Craft meteor templates to upgrade the forge. Unlock all your possibilities. Face dangers both on the surface as well as from beneath the ground![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]As you go deeper into the mines, you’ll encounter 6 new ores: Orichalcum, Cobalt, Titanium, Zinc, Platinum, and Lead.[/p]
Bosses
[p]Wouldn’t you agree that every story needs a proper fight after achieving certain milestones? The final battle can’t be just against some lackeys. Allow us to introduce you to some of our Big Bads.[/p]
Forge renovations
[p]As the game moved more toward dwarves, we realized that the steampunk aesthetic no longer fit the game that Ignite the Forge became. We decided to renovate the original forge, and while the layout of the rooms remained unchanged, it now feels much more in place.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
NPCs never looked so good
[p]While the first graphics of the enemies were fine, we felt that we could do more. Without further ado, let us introduce you to the porks’ new clothes. And rats… AND our new race of enemies: the Abyssals![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]Don’t worry, though. Our foes aren’t the only ones. It’s only fair that we take care of the brave warriors, too.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Improved skills
[p]Speaking of the warriors, during our development journey, we realized that the previous skills and leveling system didn’t do them justice. After experimenting with different ideas, we’ve made skills more meaningful. No longer just passive effects, now every skill has its own unique move as well as ways for you to tailor it to your team’s needs.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Thank you!
[p]Making this game was an amazing journey, and we’re thankful to you for being a part of it!

Demo Revamp Update
THE NEW BIG DEMO UPDATE IS LIVE! ⚒️
Today we’re releasing an update for the demo version of Blacksmith: Ignite the Forge! This is a HUGE improvement for us, with highly requested features, new content, and quality-of-life improvements.

Finally, the forge is starting to look like professional dwarven machinery! We also have a new sharpening minigame that will put your smithing skills to the test! 💪

We can’t wait to hear what you think about the new stuff! If you can’t wait anymore, go ahead and download the update! And if you’re a little more patient, below is more info about the improvements ;)
Save system
We know a lot of you have been waiting for this… And here you go! You can now save your progress and jump back into your forge whenever you like without losing your hard work.
Whetstone & weapon sharpening
This is a brand-new, risk-reward-based system. You have to commit some of your resources to access the sharpening minigame. If you succeed, your weapon becomes stronger. At the same time, failure damages it, makes it weaker, and loses both your time and precious supplies. No risk, no fun, right?

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
New weapons & missions
Simple as that, we’re adding more content to the game. You’ll be able to forge new weapons (swords and axes) and embark on 7+ new quests! Below you can see some examples (some of these are already in the game; other will be added in the future).
Dwarven forge makeover
We want the game to resemble a deeper dwarven aesthetic, and the new look of the forge is our starting point for that. How do you like the change?
Reworked combat flow
We’re reimagining the combat system for better readability. The mechanics & rules stay unchanged, but the new semi-turn-based presentation makes battles easier to follow. There’s less clutter, and knowing what’s actually going on is easier.

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]
Weapon forging improvement
While it’s hard to pinpoint the exact changes, forging weapons should now feel more intuitive, responsive, and fun in general. Try yourselves!
More polish
And for the gamedev’s bread and butter, we’ve also squashed bugs, tuned mechanics, and made minor enhancements across the board.
Sneak peeks from the future
Apart from the things that go live with today’s update, we have tons of plans for the game’s future. While we explained that in detail in our latest Steam post, we have some new sneak peeks for you:
That wraps up the update!
Thank you for all your feedback and the warm reception of the demo! We’re excited for you to dive into these changes and look forward to hearing your thoughts. Keep crafting, sharpening, and battling your way to greatness!

Development plan for Blacksmith: Ignite the Forge
Hello, Blacksmiths!
It’s been some time since we released the demo version of Blacksmith: Ignite the Forge, and we wanted to share some of our thoughts with you.

Let us start with a HUGE THANK YOU! Your engagement, tons of feedback provided, and kind words about the game have all been truly appreciated and helpful. We’re especially happy that you find the game's theme appealing, and see a lot of potential for the future. That motivates us to deliver the best (and most fun) smithing experience on Steam! ⚒️

[previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

Now for the highlight of this post: we’d like to share our plans for the development process of Blacksmith: Ignite the Forge! Without further introductions, take a look:
Updated demo coming later this year
Many of you enjoyed the first glimpse of Blacksmith: Ignite the Forge, and we’ll be releasing an updated version of the demo later this year. You can expect various new features (mostly quality-of-life-related), including the save system many of you mentioned.
First major update: combat overhaul
We agree with your opinions: combat needs a revamp to be more interactive and fun. We’re working on making fights more dynamic, rewarding, and lively, to improve the general experience. Overhauling this system is our main focus now, and we hope you’ll like the changes.

Additionally, reworked combat means new enemies, and that includes bosses! We’re preparing grand challenges for you, and this guy will be one of them:

Other than combat, there’s tons of stuff coming, but again: one Steam post wouldn’t be enough to keep that covered, so stay tuned and expect more info about that in the next updates.
Monthly devlogs incoming
We have a plan to release a devlog every month to keep you in the loop on our development process and showcase some highlights of the current works. Gamedev is tricky and sometimes hard to predict, so please forgive us in case we’re late with those 🙏.
Improvements based on your feedback
For us this is a no-brainer: all of the feedback you provided was, and will always be, taken into account. We can’t implement each and every change or tweak you propose, obviously, but rest assured that your voices are heard. Make sure to join our Discord and keep the feedback going!

Sneak peek for the more engaged ones: the bug with the crate weapon will actually become a full-fledged feature, following your requests! Enjoy the extra 3 seconds saved 😎.
Playtests incoming
We’re preparing to run playtests for some of the bigger features we have planned. If you’re interested in trying them out early and providing feedback, sign up using the form below. There are a total of 3 playtests planned, each covering a different major area of the game.
Behind-the-scenes concept art
Throughout this whole post, we’ve shown you some sneak peeks of the upcoming content additions and changes, and here are more. New weapons, enemies, attack animations, runes, the revamped alloy machine–and that’s just to name a few of them. Eventually, our goal is for the final version to be as polished as possible, so we want to smoothen things up and make them more appealing in terms of visuals. Many of those were also inspired by your feedback!

*Disclaimer: those are subject to change, but give a good feeling of the planned art direction.
That’s a wrap for now!
Once again, thank you for all the support and sticking with us through the process. Feel free to share your thoughts about this post or the game itself. Watch out for the next development updates, and join our Discord to provide feedback, have a chat, or just hang around: https://discord.com/invite/X6WNQUUJnx
