Seren Nova News

This is a major update for Seren Nova to try and fix the control system and how the game plays by reworking the controls and simplifying them.


[h3]We've completely built the control system from the ground up.[/h3]

1. The ship movement has been reworked from the ground up so it's easier and quicker to turn and move.
   
2. The ship will automatically aim at enemies on the ground or in the air in front of it. This has also meant that we have removed the button to switch between aiming at the ground and air. This has been replaced by a button you can press down if you want to aim at the ground, although as mentioned the ship will automatically aim at any ground enemies in front of it.
   
3. While the ship can land to pick up hostages, the pilot can't get out of the ship. We feel that this wasn't really used in the main game and just made things more complicated. The get in and out of ship button has been removed.
   

[h3]Other Changes[/h3]

• The ship selection screen now shows a little information about the two ships
  
• Level 4 (the lunar level) now has less objectives, and you'll only need to deliver two bombs to the building elevators.
  
• We've changed and simplified the game screen GUI. We've removed the tractor magenet icon, as we feel it can be seen quiet easily. We've also removed the air-to-air/air-to-ground aiming status icon as this has been removed from the games controls.
  

[h3]Fixes[/h3]

• Level 4 elevators are more sensitive and detect the bomb on top of it more easily, as previously sometimes they didn't set the bomb off making it very difficult to complete the objective.
  
• Now you can't be shot and killed if you've just finished all the mission objectives.

Fixed the camera a little, by moving it back.
Made the default ship selected to be the bigger bomber ship.

• Added Xbox Button A as 'accept' on buttons.
  
  
• I changed the first objective of the first mission, so that now you don't have to land and inspect the probe on foot for the next mission objective to appear on the map, as it seemed to have confused some people. Now, you just have to fly over it.

Level1: You don't need to land to complete the first objective with the crashed drone any more, as some players were confused.

Level0: The turrets weren't being destroyed making landing impossible.
