● Removed Gaze check on the user data collection- and warning screens
● Fixed dynamic shadows often not being visible
● Fixed lens flares popping in/out of view
● Fixed hitches happening throughout the experience
● Fixed crash dumps file sizes being too large
● Fixed medium shadow settings causing the lights to fade in/out incorrectly
● Fixed standing mode height being too low for players using Quest link

General Fixes & Tweaks

● Fixed crash that sometimes happens when loading levels
● Fixed crash after resuming headset and interacting with universal menu during
gameplay
● Fixed crash when using grenades
● Fixed crash when fighting against spiders
● Fixed the achievement “Unresolved Business” not unlocking when going through the
metro cart too fast and made sure this achievement is unlocked for players that already
finished this chapter but didn’t get it unlocked.
●Fixed Hippocratic Oath achievement failing during an event that’s not in the players
control and made sure that players that already passed this point won’t fail the
achievement past this moment. Players that have already finished the game will receive
the achievement directly.
● Fixed switching between standing/seated mode not setting the correct player height
● Fixed unnatural bright spots being visible on walls, floors & ceilings
● Fixed parts of the level in chapter 5 disappearing when looking from a specific position &
angle
● Fixed parts of the level in chapter 6 disappearing when looking from a specific position &
angle
● Fixed black plane being visible in chapter 11
● Fixed enemies killing you from far away and behind walls in chapter 02
● Tweaked grabbing the gun from Max in chapter 01 to make it easier
● Fixed player rotation being re-centered after each transition during the dream sequence
in chapter 08
● Fixed several performance drops in chapter 12
● Tweaked Serdar’s voice volume to be more audible
● Fixed missing fallback fonts for Korean & Japan

I did not know what to expect with Metro Awakening. With a name as big as Metro and acting as a prequel to the very first game in the series based on the novel Metro 2023, Metro Awakening had a lot to live up to.

My biggest gripe with VR titles is that they tend to skew towards delivering an isolated experience, or at the very least, an arcade-focused game that doesn’t resemble narrative-heavy or AAA flatscreen titles. Of course, this style of game can be an issue, as it doesn’t lend itself very well to the story-rich experience the Metro games offer.

Thankfully, Metro Awakening is what VR games should strive towards, as the game delivers a fantastic and fully realized AAA Experience.
