Bringing Our Beta Test Branch Back!
Ahoy Voyagers!
We are very excited to announce that we are bringing back our testing branch - now dubbed as our beta test!
This is our first testing period since our Early Access. This branch will include all of the new changes coming for the December Patch - and we would love to get your support testing and get feedback on the changes so that we can make them the best they can be!
This testing will be open to anyone who owns the Voyagers of Nera game in steam! This will be a separate steam beta on the Voyagers of Nera game, that will become available later this week; it will automatically save to a different folder in your current save directory to ensure that your data for the base game remains safe.
This does mean you'll have to either start over, or you can make a copy of your current file to play on the beta with this guide.
Voyagers of Nera Beta Set-Up Guide
This document will guide you with how to set up and opt into the Voyagers of Nera beta
⚠️The Beta Test environment will not support Dedicated Servers currently. You can still play multiplayer, but must play on a locally hosted game.
How to Opt Into the Beta
The Beta version is available through a separate Steam Beta branch.
1. Right-click the ‘Voyagers of Nera’ game in the Steam Library
2. From the menu, select ‘Properties’
3. Once the Properties menu opens, select ‘Betas’
4. Opt into the ‘Integration2’ beta (this should be the only one available to you)

5. If you wish to return back to the live Voyagers of Nera patch, simply go back to this screen but select the ‘None’ beta.
Join the Beta Discord Channels
There is a special Discord channel section for Beta content and bug reports. You can view this if you are opted into the Beta Tester role.
You can opt into the role by going to the ‘Channels and Roles’ menu at the top of the Discord, and selecting the Beta Playtester role.
How to Transfer the Data from Voyagers of Nera → Voyagers of Nera Beta
🚨 This is an optional step you could take if you do not want to begin the beta from scratch. However, we do not recommend playing on the beta build full time, as not every update will be pushed to the beta and there may be bugs that could impact your save data. As such, make sure to **copy your save files** to this folder, not fully transfer them.
1. Identify the Server ID of the save file you want to transfer.
1. Launch the Voyagers of Nera app and press the START GAME button, which will bring you to the Load Game screen.
2. Click on the save file you want to transfer over.
3. On the right hand side of the screen, copy the value of Server ID. You’ll use this in the next step.
2. Find the Save Data with the matching Server ID
1. Navigate to the folder where the Save Data is stored:
1. C:\Users\\AppData\Local\BoatGame\Saved\PersistedData

3. Copy the Save Data
1. Open the nera folder and find the save folder you want to transfer.
1. In this folder, you should see at least 1 folder. Each will be named a seemingly random combination of letters and numbers. Locate the folder that matches the Server ID you copied from Step 1. This is your save folder you will be transferring to the voyagersofnerabeta folder.
2. Copy the entire folder
4. Duplicate the Save Data into the Beta folder
1. Navigate back up to the PersistedData folder
2. Open the voyagersofnerabeta folder
3. Paste the copied folder into the directory
🎉Now you will have your live game data on the beta! 🎉
We recommend re-naming the Save File so that it is clear which version is the beta version when you launch the game in the future.
Beta testing will happen in a separate section of Discord - however anyone will be able to opt into the role and join these channels. If you would like to participate in beta testing, please claim the role and meet us in #beta-chat!
While this won't be an always on/always updated beta, we hope to continue these tests going forward as we prepare more updates for the game!
Thank you for all of the support - we're looking forward to hearing what you think of all the changes!
Have a great week ahead!
