Playtest is now Live!! 1/4 Patch Notes

The TRIBES 3: Rivals playtest is now live! It will be live for the next 24 hours unless otherwise states! Here are the patch notes!

LOADOUTS
  • Weapons
    • Added the Shocklance to Light and Medium loadouts.
    • Spinfusor, Honorfusor and the Bolt Launcher now have adjustable inheritance sliders.
      • This can be found under Settings -> Controls.
    • Projectile size and speed adjusted for all weapons.
    • Knockback and explosion radius adjusted on all weapons.
    • ADS time decreased on all weapons. 
    • Removed Spinfusor XD from loadouts.
    • Removed the Sparrow and Shotgun from loadouts.
    • Added Binocular view to all weapons.
    • Added a zoom reminder to scope weapons.
  • Packs and Grenades
    • Light Turret
      • Added energy drain to the Light Turret.
      • Reduced Light Turret throw distance.
    • Some pack and Grenade iconography updated. 
  • Perks
    • Added a player’s currently equipped perk to the Scoreboard. 

GAMEPLAY
  • Movement
    • Significantly improved the performance and smoothness of other players’ movement.
    • Generally lifted some upper limits on achievable movement speeds.
    • Addressed an issue where spamming jetpack up hills could result in higher speeds.
  • Custom Matches
    • Custom Matches allow players to make their own lobby up to 24 players (12v12) and pick which map they would like to play on. 
  • Time Trials Mode
    • Player deaths now restarts the time trial.
    • Reduced player respawn time.
    • Reduced start waiting time.
  • General
    • Competitive queue increased to a 7v7.
    • Competitive and Casual queues now rotate between Katabatic, Drydock and Wavemist.
    • Added a 1v1 Custom Match.
    • Adjusted Respawn timers on death and recall.
    • Reduced scale of major HUD elements.
    • Adjusted the collision on the flag for more accurate pickups.
    • Kill feed now shows direct hit kills.
    • Added feedback when a player is hit by an energy drain weapon.
    • Added feedback when a player is locked out of using an ability. 

MAPS
  • Katabatic
    • Added more cover to bases.
    • Generator now sits inside a cave next to the bases.
  • Wavemist
    • Increased base basement size.
    • Added more cover to bases.
  • Drydock
    • Adjusted base size and entrance points.
    • Removed jumppad. 

FIXES
  • Fixed an issue where players could still move around at the end of match if they were reviving.
  • Fixed an issue where player minimap would disappear when recalling.
  • Fixed an issue where for Turrets' bullets not passing through players.
  • Fixed an issue where some health nuggets were missing from some maps.
  • Fixed an issue where player death audio would rapidly play on repeat if player dies while under a health regen effect.
  • Fixed an issue where force fields would reduce your speed when trying to leave spawn rooms.
  • Fixed an issue where weapon highlights would show on players.
  • Fixed an issue where players could pick up the flag mid-Blink teleport.
  • Fixed an issue where returning the flag would show the event on the Kill Feed twice.
  • Fixed an issue where Generators would sometimes go below 0 health.
  • Fixed an issue where Health Nuggets would not successfully be picked when a player ran through them.
  • Fixed an issue where reload would not be initiated when swapping to empty weapons.
  • Fixed an issue where health nuggets could not be picked up in Time Trials.
  • Fixed an issue where the Chain Gun would not work in Time Trials.
  • Fixed bug where throwing a grenade while swapping to a weapon would block further attempts at swapping to that weapon.
  • Fixed an issue where the background audio setting was not working.
  • Fixed up an issue where some grenades wouldn't explode if they came in contact with a player.
  • Fixed an issue where the wrong match end music would be played on match end screen
  • Fixed an issue where the wrong generator message would be displayed when the enemy generator came back online. 
  • Fixed an issue where the EMP Grenade was not stalling players' energy.
  • Fix for turret icon showing alive when the generator came online but turret was still downed.

Known Issues
  • Loadouts will not update in the spawn room if players stay the same class. Changing class or recalling will properly change class loadout.

  • Heavy Class
    • Max health decreased to 2500.
  • Weapons
    • BTX1 Moved to the Heavy Loadout
      • Damage increased from 250 to 350
    • Added a Light Chaingun
    • Chaingun moved to the Medium Loadout with reduced damage
    • Added the Stormslicer to the Heavy Loadout. The Stormslicer is a weapon similar to the chaingun with a slower rate of fire.
    • Removed Heavy Honorfusor
    • Increased the interval between Gladiator explosions to improve area denial
    • Grenade launcher
      • Reduced damage and explosion radius by 10% each.
  • Packs and Grenades
    • Shield pack now also increases mass by 50% while active.
  • Perks
    • Removed the Egocentric Perk
    • Removed Banner Breaker
    • Survivalist
      • Health Nuggets heal the player to full over 10 seconds instead of instant. 
    • Reach renamed to Flag Capper
      • Removes the additional air resistance and speed cap reduction while carrying the flag.
      • Flag pickup range increased.
    • Rage renamed to Flag Chaser
      • Rage no longer requires the player to be within a certain distance of the enemy flag capper to activate. 
      • Energy auto regens 20%.
      • Deals an additional 20% damage to enemy flag holders.
      • The perk cannot be used while the owning player has the flag. 
    • Super Heavy renamed to Banner Guard. 
      • Now adds health and ammo regen after a 10s delay of not being damage
      • Only active within 20 meters of your team’s flag stand
    • Infiltrator 
      • Your player marker no longer shows on the minimap
      • You cannot be targeted by base turrets
      • You deal additional damage to base generators

GAMEPLAY
  • Movement
    • Addressed a number of issues related to falling off steep hills while skiing or initiating a ski.
    • Tuned the physics to be more reactive to gravity.
    • Made various tweaks and adjustments to overall physics based on testing feedback.
    • Created a new keybind “Jump Without Jetpacking” for those that want to jump independently from igniting the jetpack.
  • Time Trial Mode
    • New single player mode! Ski through hoops and try to get the best time through the course
      • Recall instantly sets you back to the start and reset your time.
      • Kill bots for a time bonus.
  • General
    • Added in Party Voice Chat
    • Player reporting moved to the scoreboard screen.
    • Ability packs are blocked while holding the flag.
    • Players holding the flag cannot use Team Portals.
    • Players holding the flag can no longer pick up Health Nuggets.
    • Players holding the flag have increased air resistance and their max speed is decreased.
    • Standoff timer no longer activates if the match is in Overtime. 
    • New bindings added for regular jump and jet.
    • Health Nuggets now heal over a 10 second timer instead of instant.

GAMEPLAY
  • Movement
    • Improved the jetpack’s thrust acceleration to allow for better steering and micro adjustments. 
    • Added a configurable setting, Jetpack Lateral Angle, to control the jetpack thrust angle when attempting to jetpack laterally (i.e. holding W/S/A/D). Applying a low value adjusts jet thrust less vertically and more laterally, whereas a higher angle accelerates more upward, at the cost of lateral thrust.
    • Added more directional control while skiing. 
    • Addressed an issue where players could occasionally feel “glued” to a surface while skiing.
  • General
    • Social tab added to the main lobby.
      • Players can now party up with two other players.
    • FOV range increased to 70-120.
    • Loadout tab removed from main lobby. 
    • Generators added
      • Generators added to bases. Destroying an enemy base Generator will disable turrets and reduce Radar capacity. 
    • Inventory Stations added
      • Inventory Stations can be found in spawn rooms. They will update player loadouts and refresh health, energy and ammo. 
    • Radars
      • Radars now show all player locations on the minimap.
      • If a team’s Radar is destroyed, then only friendly players and enemies within 150 meters of them will be shown on minimap.
    • Base Turrets
      • Base Turrets now have shields they will regen while the Generator is active.
    • Recall now refreshes loadout, even if the player stays in the same class.
    • Added a “Change Class” keybind. This is defaulted to ‘K.’
    • Jetpacks will continue to burn any fuel regenerated if the player holds down their jetpack keybind (default SPACE).
    • Players can impulse a dropped flag with weapons that have knockback.
    • The scoreboard tracks returning flags..
    • Current flag holder is now shown on the scoreboard.
    • Score added to the match result screen.
    • Base Turret health increased.

MAPS
  • New map, Drydock, with a larger size.
  • New spawn rooms added to each map.
    • Players will be able to update their loadout without recalling or dying whenever they make changes in the spawn rooms. 
  • Katabatic
    • Lighting adjustments

FIXES
  • Fixed an issue where some enemy jetpacks and the enemy flag would have conflicting team coloring effects.
  • Fixed an issue where turrets could pick up the flag.
  • Fixed an issue where projectiles could not do full damage on direct hits.
  • Fixed an issue where the “Open Scoring” top-bar message could get stuck on.
  • Fixed an issue where the flag could fall through the world. If the flag happens to move to an invalid playspace, a failsafe feature will reset the flag back at base. 
  • Fixed an issue where Base Turrets could try to shoot players while they were out of range.

KNOWN ISSUES
  • Party invites and friend requests have a delay when accepting and updating queues.
  • Players may have a red Fresnels sometimes get stuck on

TRIBES 3: Rivals is now OPEN to request playtest access! If you go to the TRIBES 3: Rivals store page, you’ll be able to see and click the ‘Request Access’ button. Make sure to click the ‘Request Access’ button if you’re interested in playtesting this week!

The playtest will start about 1-3 hours from now between 6 to 8PM EST. Check on Twitter, Discord, or Steam for the official announcement. The playtest should run until tomorrow evening (Friday, December 8). You’ll be notified directly by Steam through email if you receive access to the playtest.
