Dawnsbury Days 2.26 [bugfixes, modding improvements, view controls in menu]

Features
  • Feature: You can now view keyboard actions under Controls.
  • Feature: You can now use Ctrl+Q to skip cutscene.
  • Feature: A single crash in the rules engine will no longer crash the game and instead fast-forward to the end of the turn. (Please still report such bugs!)


Text improvements
  • Text: Added persistent damage as a damage source to damage log.
  • Text: Added diacritics to the names of contributors from non-English-speaking countries.


Modding
  • Modding: QEffects that immediately follow another overhead with the same name and color do not spawn a duplicate overhead now, even if DoNotShowUpOverhead is false.
  • Modding: Workshop Uploader now has a better open-folder dialog which allows copy-paste, favorites, remembering last folder and more.
  • Modding: Workshop Uploader now remembers your mod folder and preview image for all mods separately.
  • Modding: Spell scrolls with modded spells use numerical spell IDs instead of technical names, which would break if multiple mods are active.


Crash fixes
  • Crash: Crash bug when you exit the Shop screen of story mode, then enter free encounter mode and edit a character.
  • Classes (Sorcerer): The rules engine crashes if you take persistent damage while under the effect of the hag sorcerer's blood magic.
  • Bugfixes
  • Classes (Kineticist): Pregen kineticist doesn't use the gate attenuator.
  • Classes (Monk): Akimitsu should be lawful.
  • Classes (Ranger): Support action of animal companions has double flyover.
  • Classes (Sorcerer): Angelic Halo should not be an emanation.
  • Documentation: Document how to use creature mods from other modders in the CustomMaps readme file.
  • Encounters (S2E5): Heat-radiating fonts now radiate a little when they deal damage.
  • Encounters (S2E5): Remaining enemies are destroyed at end of S2E5.
  • Encounters (Tutorial): Tutorial chest is red instead of grey.
  • Example mod (Automatic Bonus Progression): Updated for skill potency selection to be optional..
  • Feats: Weapon proficiency is now collapsed into a feat group.
  • Items (scroll of barkskin): Removed the scroll because it is of primal tradition.
  • Items (scroll of blood vendetta): Remove scroll because the engine doesn't allow reaction spells to be cast from a scroll.
  • Modding: Add "optional" option to SingleSelection and use it for ABP.
  • Monsters: Venomous Snake should not speak Common.
  • Settings: Fixed that some settings didn't save properly when modified.
  • Spells (Blood Vendetta): Rules engine crashes when Blood Vendetta triggers in response to persistent damage.
  • Spells (Boneshaker): Boneshaker should not confer Enfeebled 1 on critical success.
  • Spells (Confusion): Clarified how Confused interacts with flanking.
  • Text: Updated wording of Sneak.
  • User interface: If none of your characters can use a scroll, it should appear red in the shop..
  • User interface: Licensed art, sound effects, and music is improperly appended to the patrons paragraph in credits.
  • Video: Added support for the resolution 1280x720 if the monitor supports it also for fullscreen (but not for windowed only).

Dawnsbury Days 2.25-rc3 [user interface improvements]

Features
  • Feature: You can now click on an unconscious ally to move into its space. You no longer need to click into the small gap around the ally's token.
  • Feature: Added a toggle option in Settings->Controls to lock mouse cursor to the game window during encounters.
  • Feature: Added a "Restart encounter" button in the in-battle menu.
  • Modding: Added the endpoint ModManager.RegisterActionOnEachSpell to make it easier to make slight adjustments to spell, such as changing goodness.
  • User interface: Many action possibilities will now "collapse" into half-possibilities or even into a grouping such as "Stances" or "Interactions", especially if the bottom bar is overcrowded. This feature can be disabled in Settings->Interface.
  • User interface (battle screen): Spell scrolls now tell you how many actions a spell takes to cost.
  • User interface (battle screen): Prompt to pick up weapons will now only happen if you forget to pick up your own weapons, rather than weapons owned by someone else.
  • User interface (battle screen): Changes to the HP bar are now animated.
  • User interface (battle screen): Overhead flyouts for damage and healing now have a darkened border to be more visible.
  • User interface (shop): The textbox now has the placeholder text "Fulltext search..." to be more obvious
  • User interface (scrollbars): Scrollbars now by default expand on mouseover, so that it's easier to manipulate them. On Steam Deck, they begin wide by default even without mouseover. This is configurable in Settings->Interface.


Character content
  • New Monk feats: Crushing Grab, Ki Strike, Flurry of Maneuvers
  • New items: Healer's gloves, boots of elvenkind, demon mask


Bugfixes:
  • Spell (Warp Step): Warp Step and other similar spells that grant you both a bonus to Speed and the ability to move as part of the spell don't apply that Speed bonus to the first Stride you make.
  • Classes (Magus): When you Spellstrike into Arcane Cascade, the game will crash the next you deal damage with a Strike under Arcane Cascade.

Dawnsbury Days 2.24 [minor bugfixes]

  • Balancing (Sea Serpent): Sea Serpent is now evil.
  • Rules: Fixed a rare situation where applying the same effect twice to a creature, then removing just one of them could remove that effect altogether.
  • Rules (Delay): Using Delay allows you to end detrimental conditions early (If you are frightened 2+ (e.g. due to the Sea Serpent's frightful presence), you can cheese getting rid of the frightened condition be repeatedly delaying after an ally. If two or more allies do this, they can easily get rid of the frightened condition.)
  • Classes (Monk): A creature that dies to Flurry of Blows doesn't die immediately, but only after you choose the target for the second Strike
  • Classes (Monk): Flurry of Blow doesn't automatically hit the creature a second time if there's only one option
  • Classes (Monk): Stunning Fist didn't trigger after one Strike and one miss
  • Spells (Telekinetic Projectile): Does not use slashing against zombie shambler.
  • Spells (Acid Splash): Acid Splash should deal splash damage on a failure; splash damage should not be multiplied on a critical hit
  • Spells (Produce Flame): When casting Produce Flame in melee range, it should take flanking into account
  • Encounters (S3E3): Monsters can cast fear through closed doors

Dawnsbury Days 2.23-rc1

This is the backup release candidate! I intend to continue developing Dawnsbury Days actively until the feature freeze on February 29th but in case too many bugs are introduced in that development, and no critical bugs are found in this one, then this one could reasonably be used as the backup build for release on March 8th.

Features
  • Rules (GM's judgment): Added an optional rule to have beneficial actions unaffected by concealment, turned on by default.


Audio
  • Audio: Performed a manual loudness normalization update on top of the auto-normalization to -23 LUFS.


Balancing
  • Balancing (S4E5): Increased the boss monster's weapon proficiency by +2 on all difficulties.
  • Rules (GM's judgment): Demoralize is now unaffected by concealment.


Bugfixes
  • Ancestries (Orc): Added additional orc portraits.
  • Classes (Kineticist): If you have multiple kineticists, start-of-combat kinetic aura whoosh should only happen once.
  • Classes (Kineticist): Ocean's Balm should also reduce the DC to 10
  • Classes (Wizard): The spell you get back from Drain Bonded Item is never removed from your mind and can be cast infinitely.
  • Encounters (S2E6): If you finish the encounter by killing an enemy, that enemy will resurrect at the beginning of the closing cutscene.
  • Encounters (S2E6): You can attempt to attack-of-opportunity "Forest Canopy" during the cutscene, which crashes the game.
  • Encounters (S4E1): Drake Riders are using Draconic Frenzy while Calm Emotions is up
  • Encounters (S4E3): If second poet was supposed to have any death lines they got interrupted by the end of combat cinematic
  • Encounters (S4E4): The summon elemental sound effect is too loud.
  • Feats (Reactive Shield): If an enemy rolls 20, you're still asked if you'd like to use reactive shield to downgrade it to a success, which won't necessarily work.
  • Feats (Shared Stratagem): The prompt should be skipped if useless because the target died
  • Free encounter mode: The "weak" difficulty modifier of the Easy difficulty applies to encounters that don't support variable difficulties
  • Modding: Add the option for assisted persistent damage recoveries.
  • Spells (Sanctuary): Sanctuary temporary attack-ban effect still remains active even if the attacker is dead
  • Story mode: If you import characters into Story mode as you begin a campaign at level 1, it says "expected maximum: 140gp" at the bottom, instead of the expected maximum of 15gp.
  • Story mode: When you move from Custom start screen to Campaign screen, the main theme music briefly plays for half a second before it's replaced by the character editor music

Dawnsbury Days 2.22 release notes (gate attenuator, bugfixes)

  • New spells: flourishing flora, pummeling rubble
  • New item: gate attenuator
  • User interface: It is now slightly easier to differentiate used up actions from active actions


Bugfixes
  • Ancestries (Orc): Orc Ferocity causes the game to crash if it triggers in response to persistent damage.
  • Rules: Bonuses to damage to Strikes are applied twice.
