Part of the Ship, Part of the Crew

Greetings, brave captains!
Today we’ll talk about your crew. These are experienced and dependable people who will be your trusted companions.

Despite their appearance, these guys are excellent assistants, and their hearts burn with flame of camaraderie and friendship. They will gladly take part in all your activities: they’ll pump the water out, patch up holes in the hull, find food, lend you fire support in a battle or rush to board an enemy vessel. Don’t forget to choose who does what, especially in a moment of danger.

Make sure there’s enough food and water for your crew to keep their morale up. While traveling, between battles, they can sort through the garbage, craft new items and repair your boat.

Every crew member can become even more useful by acquiring various skills: use a certain type of weapon better, repair your vessel faster, place more cargo in the hold.

There are many skills, allowing you to customize your team to suit your play style. You can teach your crew using Skill Points that can be acquired by completing missions in your naval adventure.

And by changing roles of your crew members you can for example, make one of the gunners switch from a machine gun to a cannon turret if that suits him better.

So keep your sailors in shape, captains, and show the world who’s the real lord of the seas!

Let's go fishing in the Age of Water!

To survive, each ship's crew needs provisions. What can you find to eat when surrounded only by water? Fish, of course!

Fish can be obtained several ways:
  • collect food by searching the rocks encountered along the way;
  • pick up some fish after a mine explosion or from the body of a dead shark;
  • catch fresh fish yourself, but for this, you will need to acquire a fishing rod, then after fishing you’ll have to process and cook your catch;
  • purchase fish from some traders.

Fishing is an activity that requires concentration and full immersion in the process, so choose a calm place so as not to be distracted from this meditative occupation by angry sharks and other enemies.

There are three types of fish: small, medium, and large, each requiring its own bait. You won't catch a big marlin with a puny worm! So you'll have to sweat and improve your fishing skill!

To prevent your catch from slipping away, control the fishing rod, keeping the float in the "white zone." The longer the float stays out of the zone, the higher the chance that your fish will slip away and disappear into the depths of the sea.

For a more successful fishing experience, here's a life hack from Captain 'Alter Ego': "Cast your line, keeping an eye on where the targeted fish is swimming. Properly directed casting will help adjust the movement and intercept even a fish swimming away from you!"

After a successful fishing trip, your crew will gladly start processing the catch! After all, who really wants to eat raw fish? You can give orders to process the fish every time you obtain provisions or appoint someone from the crew to be responsible for the food supplies, and then the designated character will do their job without your reminders.

Make sure there is always enough food in your hold. After all, as it is known: "A strong crew is a well-fed crew!"

Who can you meet in the vast expanse of the water world?

There are many interesting people and amazing creatures living in the water world. Some of them work for themselves, others belong to a certain faction group. Today we’ll talk about the two most dangerous ones.

Most often you will come across members of the Sharkee tribe. These encounters are unlikely to be pleasant, because the Sharkees have been at war with humans for many years and immediately open fire to kill. They attack both single boats and well protected caravans with equal eagerness.

Once, the ancestors of the Sharkee tribe were also humans and lived in peace with the other inhabitants of the sector but over the time their paths diverged and radiation from the sunken nuclear submarine provoked a series of mutations. How did that happen? This is one of the secrets of the Age of Water world which you will need to find out.

Another formidable enemy is the representatives of the Order of the Kraken. They are well armed bounty hunters who cause terror for pirates. Crossing them is a dangerous endeavor!

These are just some of the factions of the Age of Water world. Want to know more about the game? Ask questions on the Steam discussion page and we’ll try to answer the most important ones.

Constructing and upgrading your dreamboat

Inhabitants of the water world know one thing for sure: your boat is your home, craft shop and war fortress which are always with you. Meaning, there is no simple answer to the question “which boat is the best?” It must fit your personal needs and preferences and help to solve your tasks. You are the captain - you decide what your boat is.

Age of Water gives you the ability to enjoy a broad choice of options while constructing and upgrading your boat and its components tailoring them to your needs.

From the hull plating where selecting materials based on their weight and strength affects speed and durability, to selecting the exact deck layout. Where will the steering column be? How is the captain or gunner protected from the occasional bullet? How many pumps will give you needed safety? What cover can your crew use while under fire? Should you raise the gun position to shoot above the waves or is it better to keep a low profile? What guns and other weaponry can you use in general… Oh, and how can you provide enough power for all of it! You have a pretty infinite number of choices.

While discovering and obtaining new equipment and extracting artifacts from the old civilization, you can upgrade and reconfigure your ship anytime you like to adjust it to your current crew and missions. Who said that half of a school bus is junk? It can make a great and safe wheelhouse!

Any suitable object from your inventory can be located on the ship’s structure using the possible 14 mounting points using the placement grid, sometimes even one object over another to create a superstructure!

Also, you can collect and recycle different wreckage and trash to stockpile useful materials for repair works and additional protection elements to the construction.

Last but not least, don't forget how it looks! The ocean likes tidiness and your boat is like a woman - it needs care and a nice look! Assemble a beautiful and practical vessel, and it will help carry you through all the adventure throws at you!
