NPC Workers - DevLog #1
Hello Contractors!
In this announcement we will share our developer diaries with you.
We're going to show you a lot of things from ContractVille's next big update, NPC Workers, and we're excited to have you join us in the development process.
We've never published a devlog before and we've been wanting to do this for a long time, so we hope you enjoy it.

You should be aware that everything you see below is still in development and many things are subject to change.
Updates in the Office
We reserved a certain area in the office for NPC Workers and here you can see their containers.
This will also connect to the road where the recycling factory is and the office will have another exit from here. When you send NPC Workers to work, there will be a vehicle that will pick them up on the way and they will go to their workspace.

Worker Cabins elements will be available for upgrade in Office 1. As you upgrade Worker Cabins, you will be able to hire more employees. The maximum number of workers you can hire will be 3.
How do we employ NPC Workers?
The Company app on your tablet will have an Employees tab and you will manage NPC Workers from there.
Each worker will have a level and their wages will increase accordingly.
Levels will affect the speed of work.
I would like to remind you that the UI used is of course temporary.

If you have an active demolish or build (mission or land), you will be able to send your employees to the area from the Employees tab. They will leave from the cabins.

In the GIF below you can see the speed of NPCs according to their level. While the high-level one is already on his way to the vehicle, there's a low-level employee at the very back! For now, everything is not working right. (The car has no way to go yet!)

And the NPC workers arrive at the mission site. But they're just waiting?

You need to manage NPC Workers! You need to give them commands.
Pick them out with your finger and show them what you want them to do!
For example, you want them to break the wall, show them the wall!

We gave the NPC Workers the tasks of demolishing, extract broken items and picking up trash in a demolish mission. And we just stood and watched them.
Here come the strong and tireless helpers of you, dear contractors!

This is all we can show you about NPC Workers for now.
We hope to continue sharing devlogs like this one with you.
Don't forget to give us feedback!
House Building Event
The event on our Discord server is over and the players showed us their skills by building amazing houses! You can see it all on our Discord server. I'm also sharing the voting link with you in case you want to vote for their designs.
The image below is just one of them. They are all beautiful! Thank you to all the players who participated.
Extra...
We would like to share with you a bug that our tester team noticed during the testing process.
Could a trolley be more powerful than a car?

Watch it!

Bullet Speed Trolley!!
Trolley hits a car and sends it flying! This looked pretty fun and we wanted to share it with you.
This is a bug only on test branches and you can be sure that it will not affect your game.

Following the Balcony update, we are very pleased to introduce the Openable Windows in this update!
However, we would like to say that we have made many fixes and improvements to make the world of ContractVille better. Now the details of the grass are more distinct and they look much wonderful.
We've been working hard on bug updates and we're happy to say that we've addressed dozens of issues in this update.

Before we get to the update notes, I would like to invite you all to our ongoing event on our Discord server. Join the House Building Event! 🏠

Even if you don't participate in the event, it's worth seeing the amazing houses built by the participants! Thank you very much to our players who have participated so far.
Openable Windows
Now all windows can be opened! This completes the balcony update and now you can enjoy the magic view from your balcony to the fullest.

Let's continue the update notes with bug fixes...
Bug Fixes 🐞

🚚 Logistics & Vehicles
• Resolved a blocker that stopped trailer deliveries registering the “Load Cargo” and first logistics side‑goals.
  • Addressed a rare save/load crash that could move the TLO Mango when damaged cargo was on board.
  • Fixed a spawn‑point error that sometimes placed players on top of vehicles after exiting.
  • Removed an exploit that allowed taxi rides (and charges) to trigger while the player was outside the cab.
  • Optimised multiplayer hand‑off logic to stop server‑join failures after long Alt‑Tab or main‑menu sessions.
  • Updated the Car Volume slider so volume changes propagate to every client in the session.
🏠 Balconies & Construction
• Fixed several save‑state mismatches that could auto‑complete, reset or delete Balcony Struts, Rails and Roofs.
  • Resolved floating ceiling blocks caused by unsupported roof pieces in some demolish missions.
  • Addressed a corner‑case in build missions that prevented one window screw from tightening.
  • Cleared leftover cement placeholders on mixers when a build phase finishes.
📦 Stores & UI
• Reworked dozens of furniture, electronics and towel thumbnails to display correct materials and colours.
  • Removed an unintended $75 “preview price” tag that appeared on 3D preview page.
  • Corrected map pins and online listings so every shop now shows its own name.
  • Restored “Inventory Empty / Full” warnings at gas stations, trailer dealers and retail stores.
  • Fixed discount e‑mails so they only call out the store that actually runs the sale.
📒 Tablet & Office
• Fixed a UI layering bug that left the Comments star badge visible when switching to Storage.
  • Re‑enabled wall‑hung decor in Office 1 (both states) and Office 2.

  • Fixed an incorrect “Car Required” HUD guide that fired when accepting a Demolish mission.
  • Fixed teleportation that occurred when a player stood on a box being picked up by another player.
  • Updated Big Map scroll‑wheel logic so zoom now centres on the cursor instead of the top‑left corner. Now it works better with gamepads too.
🖼️ Graphics, Audio & World
• Grounded floating flower pots in Go Green City Initiative 10.

Update 0.8 - Balcony, NPC Cars, Bug Fixes & GeForce Now, Price Update

Hello contractors!
In this big update we bring you the new balcony and the renewed NPC cars. With this update, we are one step closer to the full release.
Before we move on to the patch notes with bug fixes, I would like to share some news with you.
GeForce Now
As we announced last week, ContractVille will now be available on GeForce Now. We share the joy of the players who have been waiting for this. If you want to play ContractVille anytime, anywhere, without the need for a good system, you can find our game on GeForce Now.
ContractVille will be available on GeForce Now on April 17 at 10am PDT.
Discount!
With this discount, we're celebrating the balcony update and going live on GeForce Now.
It's a great time to buy ContractVille or gift it to a friend if you already own it! We recommend you not to miss this sale.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2698780/ContractVille/?snr=1_2108_9__2107
Start Apr 17 @ 10:00 (Pacific Time)
Price Update
As stated in the Early Access section of our store page: “ContractVille will be cheaper during Early Access. We’ll raise the price as we move towards full launch.”
With that in mind, we believe now is the right time to implement this planned adjustment, as the game has grown significantly in content and quality since its release.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us early and helped shape the game. Your support has been invaluable throughout this journey.
If you’ve been thinking about picking up ContractVille, now is the perfect time!

Having given you this important news...
I would now like to move on to what's new and what the update includes.
After the major updates such as Garden, Roof & Porch and Roofless Porch, we think that the balcony is a great complement to the look of a house. With this balcony update, one more thing has been added and now the houses you build look even better!
If you're curious about what's ahead for ContractVille, you can check the "What's New?, In Development, Planned" section from the main menu.
Balcony
You can now add balconies to your houses — a feature that expands your creative options and brings a more complete architectural look.
Balconies are a key addition for giving your buildings a natural and finished appearance, especially when combined with roof and porch elements.

French Balcony

Small Balcony

Medium Balcony

View of a house with a balcony with roof and porch
Plenty of Alternatives for Balcony!
Balconies are now available in four different sizes — small, medium, large, and extra-large — so you can choose the one that best fits the scale of your house and lot. Whether you're building on a compact plot or a spacious estate, there’s a balcony size that matches your layout.
In addition, balconies come in three distinct styles:
  • French-style (flush with the wall)
  • Roofed (covered top for extra structure and visual depth)
  • Open/roofless (for a lighter, more minimal look)

These variations allow you to further customize your building’s exterior appearance, offering more flexibility when designing facades and upper floors.

Just like the roof and the porch, you can customize every detail of your balcony!
Renewal of NPC Cars
NPC vehicles have received a complete visual overhaul.
Instead of dark-windowed, opaque cars, you’ll now see vehicles with visible drivers and passengers moving through the city.

We believe this change adds another meaningful layer to the atmosphere of Creek Harbour, helping it feel more alive and dynamic as a living city.

Let’s now move on to the bug fixes and improvements included in this update.
🛠️ Bug Fixes
Trolley Spawn Position Fixed
  • Fixed an issue where taking control of the trolley caused it to appear to the right side of the character instead of in front. The trolley now spawns in the correct position when picked up.
Scott Mail Bathroom Tiling Overspill
  • Fixed a tiling issue in the Scott Mail mission where tiles could be placed slightly beyond the bathroom door frame, preventing placement in adjacent rooms.
Resolution Lock in Borderless Fullscreen
  • Fixed an issue where Borderless Fullscreen mode would incorrectly detect resolution from GPU scaling options like DSR or FSR.
The game now correctly uses your desktop's native resolution when Borderless Fullscreen is selected.
Achievement Text Clarification
  • Updated the description of the "Logistics Baron" achievement to remove misleading language about "cargo," and capitalized mission names for clarity.
Excessive Tiling Requirement in Ivan Mission
  • Adjusted the "Tile the Floor" objective in the Ivan Build mission. It now reflects the correct required area, even in rooms without separating interior walls.
Missing Text for Amid
  • Fixed a missing text issue for Amid, where the comment was replaced by a placeholder.
Hallway Task Progress Blocked
  • Resolved an issue where hallway progress would not update correctly. Tasks like painting or plastering now reflect properly and allow stage progression.
Player Marker Color Not Updating
  • Fixed an inconsistency where changing the player marker color wouldn’t update the in-game head marker until reentering a vehicle or rejoining the session.
Server Crash on Eating Buff End
  • Fixed a server crash that occurred when the eating buff ended after a client-side food interaction glitch.
Stuck Cargo Points in Go Green Missions
  • Addressed an issue where cargo points from completed “Go Green” missions (Green City Initiative & Clean Water Campaign) remained in the game world. These are now removed correctly upon mission completion.
Imperial Speed Display Mismatch
  • Corrected a display bug where the vehicle speed in imperial units appeared inconsistent with the actual numerical value.
Refund Price Bug with Sweet Talk Skill
  • Fixed a bug where returning discounted items while the “Sweet Talk” skill was active refunded the full original price instead of the actual purchase price.
Recycle Trolley Query Display Bug
  • Fixed an issue where recycle boxes taken by trolley caused the visible query number of paper and metal trash to display as 0.
Stacking Recycled Boxes Resets Queue
  • Addressed a bug where repeatedly throwing recycled boxes on top of others in front of the bin caused the queue count to reset to 0.

  • Fixed some shift between material options for some furniture.
  • Replaced several outdated furniture models with updated versions.
  • Fixed incorrect positioning of interior walls ceiling borders.

If you are using borderless fullscreen and have problems with some UIs such as big map, you can solve the problem by setting the resolution setting equal to the resolution of the monitor.
