Prominence News

On This Day in Letarri History. . .

[p]On November 6, 2015, we pressed the button to launch Prominence here on Steam. Ten years later, we’re in awe of the thousands of players who explored, pieced together clues, and solved puzzles to help the Letarri mission. [/p][p]In the years since launch, we released a cargo crate of free extras. In case you missed any, here's the complete list, plus a brand-new one that we’re released today: [/p][p][/p][p]• Prominence Prologue e-book with eleven micro-stories that set the stage for the game. Get the backstory on A.N.N.I.E.'s creation. Find out how and why Taeron tech and Letarri tech come together in the game world. Discover the meaning behind the 'ren' honorific in some of the character names. There's even an 'explain like I'm five' scene where one of the vanguard crew explains the mission to his young son.[/p][p]Many of them were released as weekly episodes leading up to launch, but we also wanted new players to have easy access to them. So we made an e-book anthology (available as EPUB, MOBI, and PDF) with a proper table of contents, character portraits, and a bonus chapter about one particular member of the crew. . . [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]• The official soundtrack album is available on most streaming services and includes 14 songs from the game. If you own Prominence, two bonus MP3s are also included: The first is "Stranded In Space" which is an early concept that didn't make it into the game, but helped us find the 'how much is too much?' line for the exploration songs. The other is "All Aboard" which went all the way through production and mixing, but was ultimately swapped out during beta.[/p][p][/p][p]• A guided PDF walkthrough for the entire game. It makes a fine adventure companion on a tablet or second monitor.[/p][p]Except for a few necessary diagrams on page 29, the design should be lightweight enough that old-school adventurers can print it out without having to buy new ink or toner for the printer. Feel free to fill the margins with notes![/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]• More Dev Chats! Early developer chats about the game's design and story were well-received (and are still available on our YouTube channel). Once the game launched, we recorded and published two more. [/p][p]First was an audio developer chat about the sound effects, the perils of sound libraries, recording foley, finding the main themes and textures, inspirations for the Old Letarri language, voice casting through a thousand demos, working with the actors, and releasing the soundtrack.[/p][p]Next, we made one about the art and design, beginning with how a real-life Mars project preceded Prominence, finding balance between realism and science fiction, establishing the design languages of Taeron and Letarri technologies, and more.[/p][p][/p][p]• Voice-over outtakes reel compiled from the recording sessions with the cast. Short, silly, and fun. It does contain some potential spoilers though, so we recommend listening after you've completed the game. [/p][p][/p][p]• Profile avatars featuring most of the in-game characters. Each is available in two versions: PNG with a transparent background and a JPG with a fiery solar background. One day I'm going to log into Steam, Discord, or another service and see one of these in the wild and lose my mind.[/p][p]These were painted by the amazing Ture Ekroos. [/p][p][/p][p]• Steam Trading Cards of course. We jumped at the chance to make cards and badges with the characters and items from the game.[/p][p][/p][p]• Behind-the-Scenes Trivia. A brand-new, never-before-released collection of secrets about the game. One part easter eggs, one part “Where are they now?”, and at least one part madness. [/p][p][/p][p]If you’ve been here since day one, thank you for being part of this decade of adventure and puzzle-solving![/p][p][/p][p]If Prominence is on your Wishlist, this is a great time to pick up the game at its lowest price ever. [/p][p][/p][p]Happy adventuring![/p][p][/p]

Prominence Group Play on Senscape Discord + Giveaways

Our friends over at Senscape (who we worked with on Serena) have a wonderful Discord community of adventure gamers. They regularly host group plays where they put aside any walkthroughs and instead depend on fellow members while playing a chosen adventure game.

Beginning this Friday, December 14, the group will be playing Prominence and you're all officially invited!

As they say in their guidelines:
Start your game in your own time zone and play at your own pace. Some people work, have families, some do not. Some will finish in a few days, some in a week or more; it’s not a race. If you have questions on what to do, where to go or how the game works, feel free to ask them on the game page.
Group plays are also about keeping one another motivated and encouraged; holding hands is needed at times or a good old "slap-up-side-the-head" if you become hysterical. We LOVE to chat it up and see how each other are doing. It does not matter if you have played every Group game or this is your first. Do not be shy. We want to know you!

In addition, they'll be doing some game giveaways tonight and tomorrow, so if you head over there now, you can get in the running for a new game.

Here's the link:

Look for the delightfully named "Group Therapy" section.

There will also be a developer Q&A channel where we'll be dropping by to answer questions about the story, puzzles, characters, game world, and more. :)

Happy adventuring!

Coming Soon: Lower Regional Prices & New Currencies!

As a tiny development studio we can't be keen on market economics for all regions around the world.

Luckily, Valve advises us on pricing, and their latest analysis includes some recommendations for regions outside places where the US dollar and Euro are the primary currency.

We've decided to take Valve's advice and change the purchase price of Prominence, but only in cases where the new recommended price is lower. That means there will be no regional pricing increases, only decreases.

Price Reductions

In the next few weeks (we've already submitted the changes to Valve), pricing for Prominence on Steam will be adjusted downward for regions that use the following currencies:
  • Indonesian Rupiah
  • Philippine Peso
  • Singapore Dollar
  • Thai Baht
  • Korean Won
  • Indian Rupee
  • Chilean Peso
  • Peruvian Sol
  • Colombian Peso
  • South African Rand
  • Hong Kong Dollar
  • Taiwanese Dollar
  • Saudi Arabian Riyal
  • Emirati Dirham

If you're in one of those areas and Prominence is on your wishlist, keep an eye out for the new pricing.

New Currencies

In addition to those pricing reductions, several new regional currencies will soon become available here on Steam. We've submitted new prices for Prominence based on the latest market analysis for these areas:
  • Vietnamese Dong
  • Ukrainian Hryvnia
  • Australian Dollar
  • Polish Zloty
  • Argentine Peso
  • Israeli New Shekel
  • Kazakhstani Tenge
  • Kuwaiti Dinar
  • Qatari Rial
  • Costa Rican Colon
  • Uruguayan Peso
