We have coded-up some performance improvements and these changes are now live for playtesting. Let us know how your city looks and if these changes have improved performance for you!

  • Fix water shader to be compatible with early Direct X 11 versions
  • Change default water compute resolution to 512, add options to switch even lower or higher
  • Only update water wave frequency spectrums when needed - reduces GPU load when weather is not changing
  • Add approximate shadow rendering system which renders boxes instead of whole objects at a distance. Add setting for it
  • Smooth-edged weather segment UI borders for smoother movement
  • Enable SRP batcher and instanced drawing by default
  • Enable small object culling. Make wooden wind turbine blades immune to small object culling

  • When bug report filesize is too large only include the last save file to the report instead of whole playthrough
  • Optimize citizen congestion calculations - should improve performance with cities with a lot of walking citizens
  • Don't set moss values when renderable is above water - improves renderer batching, especially for cities way above water
  • Water compute is always synchronized - should fix water stuttering from a11 update
  • Renderable shadows now also support using child renderers as proxy box providers - some shadowcasters now have more accurate shadow proxies

  • Disable Resident Drawer for Direct3D feature level 11.0 cards
  • Optimize water to use less GPU for computing
  • Fixed resources not spawning after loading a save
