What you Get in the Next Update

[p]Our next update is just around the corner – and once again, it brings a number of improvements based on your feedback. Here's a quick look at some of the highlights![/p][p][/p]
New Brake Sounds for HK and A3L92
[p]With the upcoming update, the HK and A3L92 trains will receive new, authentic spring brake sounds. These provide a much more realistic acoustic experience when parking the trains. Also new for the HK: the electro-pneumatic brake system now features the characteristic switching sounds of the EP brake. This adds an extra layer of depth to train handling – especially when braking gently.[/p][p][/p][p][/p]
Depot Trips and Achievements
[p]A popular request is finally coming true – you’ll soon be able to drive your train into the depot at the end of a shift. Wrapping up the day (or handing off to the night crew) will feel much more immersive. The “Night Owl” and “Early Bird” achievements weren’t working as intended – this is now fixed. Time to complete your trophy collection![/p][p][/p][p][/p]
HUD Distance Display & Track Flickering
[p]The HUD's distance display will now show the distance from the front of the train instead of the camera position. This gives you a much better sense of train positioning – especially when stopping precisely at the platform or during shunting movements.
Another technical refinement: flickering on ballastless tracks, fence edges, and sleepers has been significantly reduced. The environment now looks much calmer and easier on the eyes.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]The full changelog with more fixes and improvements is coming soon – so stay tuned. In the meantime, we’re always happy to hear your feedback! Let us know what you think of the game, share your screenshots, report bugs, and send us your ideas. Together, we can make the game even better.[/p]

[p][/p]
About SubwaySim 2
[p][/p][p]SubwaySim 2 is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. A Look Ahead at the Next Update

Day by day, we’re receiving an incredible amount of positive feedback from you. Thank you for your overwhelming support! We’re extremely grateful for this response – and it motivates us even more to continue working on improvements behind the scenes.

While we don’t have a finished update for you this week, we’d like to take you on a quick behind-the-scenes tour and show you what you can expect from SubwaySim 2 in the near future.
Introducing: Update 3
We’ve received numerous bug reports via Steam and Discord and are working hard to address as many of your requests as possible, step by step. With Update 3, we’re tackling some of the bigger topics.
New Tunnel Lighting
Many of you have asked us to revisit the tunnel lighting. On one hand, low sun positions often caused lighting artifacts inside tunnels. On the other hand, tunnels weren’t as dark as intended, especially on lower settings.

We’ve completely reworked the lighting system in tunnel areas. Tunnels are now rendered independently of time of day and weather. We’re currently testing these changes in our internal beta – and the first impression is very positive.
Improved Windows
We’ve frequently heard reports of flickering windshields and windows on certain devices. While addressing this, we also fixed issues with rain effects on some side windows (wrong direction or invisible from the inside). Both improvements are currently being tested thoroughly in our beta. We’re excited to hear your feedback once it’s live.
Improved Tree Rendering
Another frequent request was for trees on higher graphics settings to switch to lower resolution models later. We’ve made improvements here as well – take a look:
Anti-Aliasing (Flickering)
Let’s move on to the next visual topic. On some systems, we observed noticeable anti-aliasing artifacts, especially around bridges and city areas with lots of buildings.

To improve this, we’re implementing several changes:
 • DLSS anti-aliasing for compatible NVIDIA graphics cards
 • Adjusted LODs (Level of Detail) for affected assets, especially bridges
 • Improvements to the track structure to reduce flickering
 • And more

We can’t say for sure which of these fixes will make it into Update 3 just yet. Since many of you brought up flickering and anti-aliasing, we’re also taking a closer look at the sleepers.
Modding
Many in the community have been eagerly awaiting the modding SDK, which will finally allow you to build your own vehicles and routes. We’re already in the testing phase and hope to give you the green light for building very soon. Please bear with us just a little longer – it’s almost time!
DLSS & FSR
Wait… didn’t we mention DLSS above? That’s right – in addition to anti-aliasing, DLSS also functions as an upscaling method. For compatible GPUs (NVIDIA RTX 20xx and newer), we’re working on DLSS support that should also improve performance. We’re also looking into FSR – the AMD counterpart to DLSS – for systems that aren’t DLSS-compatible. While we can’t yet confirm when either will be ready, both are on our priority list.
Performance
Let’s get to the most important topic: performance. Of course, we’re also working on improvements here. However, since we need to test across all platforms (PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S), it’s a time-consuming process – and the main reason why we can’t deliver a finished update this week.
When will the update be released?
Due to recent changes, we especially need to optimize further on Xbox before we can release the update. Performance on Xbox is currently more challenging than on the other platforms. If issues persist, we may consider releasing Update 3 for PC and PlayStation first, and delivering the Xbox version slightly later. We’ll let you know more about this next week.

In the meantime, we’re still happy to receive your feedback. Let us know what you think of the game – share your screenshots, report bugs, and keep your ideas coming. You’re helping us make the game even better together.
