A Quick Devlog #4
Hey everyone!
It’s time for another update on what’s been happening with Backrooms Media. There’s been a lot going on this week, and I’m excited to share the progress with you as I continue refining gameplay, adding new content, and tackling some important issues.
💡 What am I working on this week?
This week has been a mix of visual, audio, and gameplay updates, with a few additions that I hope will make the experience more immersive!

The infamous bacteria has received a fresh coat of terrifying! I’ve added a brand-new model and animations to make it feel more lifelike and a bit scarier. To match its new look, I’ve also added some unsettling sound effects that should make encounters even more intense.

Here’s a sneak peek behind the scenes!

Networking has been my main focus for a while now, and I’m happy to report that it’s nearly complete! Stability and reliability are my top priorities, and I’m hoping the upcoming update will make multiplayer a smoother experience.

I’ve started designing a new level for the upcoming game mode I mentioned last week. While it’s still in the early stages, the layout is shaping up nicely. I’ve also added a menu option in the main menu for selecting this mode. I can’t wait to share more details and hear what you think!

On Level 0 Deep, I’ve worked on adding sounds to the jumpscare to make it more atmospheric and impactful. I’ll leave the details as a surprise, you’ll have to experience it firsthand 😄

A Quick Devlog #3
Hey everyone!
It’s time for another update on what’s been happening with Backrooms Media’s development. There’s been a lot going on this week as I work on gameplay improvements, tackle some long-standing issues, and add a few extra touches to make things more immersive. It’s been busy, but I’m excited to share the progress with you!
💡 What am I working on this week?
First off, networking continues to be my major focus. I’m trying to make multiplayer as smooth and reliable as possible. I know how much a stable connection matters for a great experience, so I’m putting in extra care to make it happen.

On the gameplay side, I’ve made some tweaks to the parking lot area to give it more of a lived-in, immersive feel. There have also been lighting improvements across several levels, which should help deepen the atmosphere and create a mood that shifts depending on where you are. Who knows, it might even make you question what’s hiding in the shadows!

You're probably familiar with the infamous bacteria monster. You’ll notice it’s starting to feel a bit more lifelike...and maybe a bit more terrifying! I’ve added new animations that should bring it to life in a way that keeps you on your toes. And while we’re talking entities, I’ve also been fine-tuning the AI for the hazmat suit mob.

I’ve also made a few adjustments to the UI for smoother navigation. I unified settings and added smoother transitions between levels to keep you immersed as you explore. Plus, based on your feedback, I’ve made it so you can close the menu with the Esc button - a small change, but hopefully a helpful one for many of you.

I’m aiming to include all of these improvements in the November update - would love to hear your thoughts!
🎮 What’s coming in December? Just a little teaser...
I also wanted to give you a small hint about something exciting that's coming in December. I'm working on a new game mode that’s going to offer something different from the current exploration focus. This mode will introduce a different objective, with new ways to interact with the monsters and environment. You’ll have opportunities to assemble a few unique contraptions as you go, and the Underground Research level will become the main hub for this new mission.

A Quick Devlog #2
Hey everyone!
Here’s another small portion of information about what’s going on with Backrooms Media’s development!
💡 What am I working on this week?
This week’s focus has been on improving the UI for the main menu and pause menu to make them more user-friendly. I’m adjusting settings, enabling the Esc button to exit the menu… Some quality-of-life improvements that should make things smoother overall!

I also gave the Smiler a few more updates after seeing your feedback on the last changes—it was really encouraging!

The big focus, though, has been fixing the network issues. I hoped to get these sorted in the last update, but a few things still weren’t quite right. Now I’m aiming to have them ready for the next one so the multiplayer experience is more reliable and fun!

And here’s a sneak peek at the new DeepInLevel0 layout I mentioned last week:
Hey everyone!
As promised last Thursday, I'll be sharing a weekly update on Backrooms Media’s development. Here’s the first quick devlog!
💡 What am I working on this week?
I'm currently focused on enhancing the lighting for the initial levels and refining the entities. Your reactions to the new Smiler were awesome, so I'm aiming to improve the other mobs as well!

This fella will be scarier soon...

In addition, I'm gradually progressing toward upgrades for the next level - DeepInLevel0. I’m planning a slight layout redesign, and I hope you’ll like the changes!
