GTA Online weekly update brings triple rewards for zany Transform races, time trials

This week might have brought the launch of a certain blockbuster RPG game, but - as usual - it's also ushered in GTA Online's next weekly update. The latest offering to the online action-adventure game brings triple the treats to some of its most entertaining race types, as well as the new GTA Online podium car, and a hefty bunch of discounts, too.

Ahead of Rockstar Games' newswire post (which should arrive very soon), fans such as Tez2 on Twitter have been digging into the game to see what's in store for this week's update. As they've discovered, the latest podium car is the Stirling GT two-door coupe, while the modes getting triple rewards this week are the regular and RC time trials, as well as the zany Transform races. Introduced back in late 2017 as part of the Smuggler's Run update, these are the dynamic, chaotically fun events that see your vehicle transformed multiple times mid-race by hitting checkpoints.

For this update, you'll get three times the in-game cash and RP rewards for these races. Sweet.

GTA Online's biggest heist has you robbing the Fyre Festival in a submarine

GTA Online's biggest heist has you robbing the Fyre Festival in a submarine

If you're going to steal stuff, it might as well be from a big-time drug trafficker who spends his off-duty hours organising vacuous beach dance parties, right? That's what you'll be doing in The Cayo Perico Heist, the biggest-ever Grand Theft Auto Online adventure that's due out December 15. A new trailer is out today that shows off some of the sheer scale of this new caper.

The backdrop for the multiplayer game's heist is of course the island of Cayo Perico itself, which is home to El Rubio - a global-scale narcotics trafficker with ties to the Madrazo family. El Rubio also likes to throw Fyre Festival style dance parties, flying in jet setters and influencers from around the world to groove to music by talented musicians and DJs.

Unlike the Fyre Festival, however, El Rubio actually has the finances to make this work, and that's what you'll be after in this adventure. There's an "untold fortunet in art, gold, and drug money scattered across the island", Rockstar says, and it's protected by heavily armed guards and advanced security systems.

GTA Online is getting a new nightclub called The Music Locker

GTA Online is getting a new nightclub called The Music Locker

It's probably not a great time to be going to a nightclub in real life, but that's okay because soon you can head to a new, virtual one in GTA Online instead. Rockstar Games revealed on its Newswire that Los Santos is getting a new underground club called The Music Locker.

The new social space will be located directly underneath The Diamond Casino and will feature sets from real DJs. So far we know that Moodymann, Keinemusik, and Palms Trax are popping up this month, and Rockstar is revealing more acts soon. You'll also gain access to a VIP section of the club if you own a penthouse in The Diamond. Rockstar also says that the multiplayer game's radio stations are getting some TLC. There will be new channels for you to tune into alongside more DJs for your existing favourites. You won't have to wait long to find out more, either, as additional details will be here "in the coming days". I'm not sure I'll budge from Non-Stop Pop FM, but variety is nice.

We had a slight hint this was all happening. Players logged on after a GTA Online weekly update to find the side of the Diamond Casino was boarded up for renovations. If you got up real close to it, you could hear the faint sound of a muffled kick drum.

GTA Online's weekly update adds triple rewards for Deadline, King of the Hill

It's the most wonderful time of the week - well, if you're a Grand Theft Auto Online fan, that is. The multiplayer game's fans have been having a good poke around to find out what's going to drop for the latest weekly update, and it turns out some big rewards will be up for grabs for its Deadline and King of the Hill modes.

As spotted by GTA Online fan and dataminer Tez2, the open-world game's new weekly update brings an eye-watering triple the regular rewards - RP and in-game cash - you'd usually score for the Deadline Adversary mode. This being the one that gets up to four players battling it out against each other on Shotaro bikes in an arena, trying to get foes to cross the trail your vehicle leaves behind it so they explode. Yikes.

The game's King of the Hill modes also bring triple the goodies this week, which means if you can capture the most checkpoints at the end of your round, you'll be in for a big ol' dose of RP and GTA$.
