Watch the developer play!

I play through the demo, including the whole campaign and a large Freeplay forest!

Release Date Announcement: March 31, 2025

I'm happy to announce that PolyPine will release March 31, 2025!
To celebrate, I've updated the trailer. Check it out on the Steam page!

New Demo with water and 2x animals and plants and more!

As we are nearing the release of the full game, I think it's about time I update the demo! There is now a new demo for PolyPine which has water and a lot of other new stuff!

The new demo has almost twice the number of animals and plants. Including fallen trunks and associated species like snails, earthworms, forest orchids and bracket fungi!

There's also a heavily expanded Freeplay mode. You can choose from varied terrain options and have multiple saves! If you want a true sandbox experience make sure to turn on infinite bp!

There's a completely new campaign. The demo contains the first 4 levels from the full game (progress is saved if you decide to buy the full game later). The evolution system (a.k.a permanent upgrades) is heavily expanded. My favorite is the in-game auto-clicker upgrade. It lets you play the game in new interesting ways, relying more on clicking and planting stuff at the speed of light!

I'm really looking forward to hearing what you all think of this new demo and see the forests you create!

Cheers,
Anton

New Gameplay Trailer - New Content and Features Revealed!

I'm happy to announce that there is now a new Gameplay trailer for PolyPine which showcases a lot of new content! Watch it on the PolyPine Steam page.

The development of the game is progressing nicely. Here's an overview of things I've added recently:
- 42 animals and 35 plants are now in the game.
- Mountains that isolate populations of animals and plants.
- Campaign with 10 levels that take 4-10 hours to complete.
- Heavily expanded Freeplay mode with advanced terrain generation and lots of customization!
- Forest Fires, Storms, and Bark Beetle Swarms!
- Dead wood and fallen trunks with associated animals and plants.
- Create huge trees by sharing resources via mycorrhizal networks created by mushrooms.

Things are starting to come together and the feedback from a recent closed beta playtest session were very encouraging!
We are in the final stretch of finishing the game. I'm really eager to get this game out into the world :)

Follow and wishlist the game to receive more updates in the upcoming months!

Additionally, PolyPine will be participating in the Weplay exhibition at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center from November 16th to 17th. Come find us and play! We’ll be at booth B09, waiting for you!

Cheers,
Anton

Development Update!

(Edit: Note that this new content is not part of the demo. It will be part of the full game when it's released early next year. Some play testers have access to this content already via an alpha build of the full game.)

Hi everybody!

I just want to give an update about the development of PolyPine:
This summer I've been hard at work adding more animals, plants and gameplay features to the game.
This has resulted in 12 new animals, 8 new plants and a new water mechanic!
The water mechanic expands the game in a very fun and natural way: you can now place ponds that you can fill with life! If you are curious: yes, all animals can swim across the water.

Here are some of my favorite animals I've added recently:

Beavers can cut down trees, giving you balance points. This allows you to effectively have a tree plantation where you harvest trees.
Wild Boars can dig up small plants, giving you balance points. Similarly to the Beaver this allows you to farm plants for points.
Spiders I studied how spiders actually build their webs and have implemented a true to life algorithm that the spiders in the game use to build their web. Also, it's very satisfying to capture mosquitos and houseflies in the web!

All new animals and plants really expand the strategies available to you when building your forest!

Here's a list of all new animals and plants I've added: beaver, wolf, spider, woodpecker, mosquito, wild boar, housefly, swift, waterlouse, stickleback, perch, pike, waterlily, fern, fly agaric, cow parsley, alder, algae, pondweed, and reed.

Follow and wishlist the game to receive more updates in the upcoming months!
Next up on the development schedule: forest fires and storms :O

Cheers,
Anton
