This isn't a lazy port | ZERO CALIBER 2 Remastered drops soon!
Hey everyone,
[p][/p][p]Zero Cal 2's release is approaching fast, and some of the most frequent questions we’ve been getting are:
How different is Zero Caliber 2 on Steam compared to standalone?[/p][p]and[/p][p]Why did you add ‘Remastered’ to the title?[/p][p]and [/p][p]When is it coming?[/p][p]
Excellent questions, let’s break it all down.[/p][p][/p]

“Why did you add ‘Remastered’ to the title?”
[p][/p][p]Zero Caliber 2 on PCVR isn’t just a lazy port with higher res textures and better resolution.
We pushed things as far as we could within the engine’s limits - and then some. We also added brand new features.
A few things that got the PCVR treatment:[/p]
 • [p]💥 Visual fidelity got a massive upgrade - explosions, muzzle flashes, lighting, shadows, textures, VFX… it all hits much harder now.[/p]
 • [p]🪖 Enemy numbers almost doubled, and AI behavior has been drastically improved to actually challenge you - even in Co-op.[/p]
 • [p]👨🏻‍🔬 Physics upgrade - ragdolls are in full swing, enemies react to bullets much more realistically.[/p]
 • [p]🚀 Several missions have been completely reworked, and pretty much all missions were touched up to deliver a more cinematic experience than you’ve ever seen in a VR shooter.[/p]
 • [p]💅 Player customization - you can customize your character with both brand-new gear and throwbacks from the original Zero Caliber.[/p]
 • [p]🔫 Weapon models got a facelift to match the upgraded visuals.[/p]
 • [p]⚙️ We focused heavily on QoL and tech stability — aiming for the smoothest, bug-free experience right at launch.[/p]
[p]… and there’s a lot more we’re keeping under wraps for now.

Calling it just “Zero Caliber 2” didn’t feel right - the work that’s gone into this version 100% deserves the Remastered tag.[/p][p][/p]

"How different is Zero Caliber 2 on Steam compared to standalone?"
[p][/p][p]Why don't you see it for yourself? Check out these side-by-side comparisons (captured in a WiP build) from our creator friends:[/p][p]Mac in VR[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube][p]DriDVR[/p][previewyoutube][/previewyoutube]

“When is it coming?”
[p][/p][p]We’re currently running a Closed Beta, and are testing a few bonus features and new weapons we might add for release internally.
We were originally aiming for a September launch, and so far it looks like we’re still on track - keep an eye out for the official release date announcement in the coming weeks![/p][p]I promise it’ll be worth the wait.[/p][p]... AND if you’re into what you’re seeing, a wishlist on Steam goes a long way. ❤️
Let’s keep the VR shooter genre alive, together! Cheers,

Zero Caliber 2 - Standalone vs. PCVR footage

Hey there,

As you might know, Zero Caliber 2 is coming to Steam soon!
One of the most common questions we get is, “How different will it look from the standalone version?

Well, here’s a little side-by-side teaser. Keep in mind, the PCVR build on the right is still a work in progress - it’s gonna look even better at launch!
Take a look:

And if you like what you see, wishlist Zero Caliber 2 today to stay in the loop on news and announcements!

It's alive! Zero Caliber 2 is making its way to Steam soon.

Howdy old friends?

First off, apologies for our absence in the PCVR space. After a very hectic 2024 (and 2023. aaaand 2022), we had to take some time to reassess the VR market and our place in it.

As I’m sure many of you are aware, VR developers are facing some serious challenges right now: Meta’s questionable shift in the standalone side of things, the lack of competition in gaming hardware from other OEMs (Valve pls), manufacturers redirecting their focus to MR and AR, and, of course, a stagnating economy overall.

Considering all of that, developing VR games has become riskier than ever - especially for a small, independent, and self-funded team like ours.

Yes, it’s a bit grim. But despite the unfavorable circumstances, we ain't going anywhere! We’re committed to keeping the single-player/co-op shooter genre alive in VR. So buckle up - it’s going to be an intense 2025!

👇 Here’s what we’ve been up to 👇
ZERO CALIBER 2 ON STEAM
It’s alive! We now have a playable, kind of stable build. Don’t expect Alyx levels of visuals, but we’re doing our best within the constraints of UE 4.27. Release date is still TBD (soon though!). We still have some work to do on non-Quest HMD support, optimization and other boring backend stuff.

Here's a first look teaser:

A wishlist would mean the world to our small, indie team. 🙏
A NEW PROJECT
I can’t share much about this just yet, but here’s a teaser: we’re moving our backend to UE 5.5 and working on a Zero Cal spinoff. I’ll share more details when the time is right.

Alright, that's all for now - thank you for coming to my TED Talk! I’ll be sharing sneak peeks of ZC 2’s PCVR progress and snippets from the new project in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on this space.

And as always, thank you so much for supporting us for this long. We truly appreciate every bit of feedback. We’re all on this VR journey together - let’s keep it that way! 🫡
