Survival game Astrobotanica is a reverse Subnautica, outlines big plans for 2025

If you're looking for a survival game with a slightly different flavor than most, Astrobotanica is for you. While Subnautica takes you to the ocean floor, Valheim transports you to a world of Norse mythology, and Palworld makes you a creature tamer, Astrobotanica takes place on a prehistoric version of Earth. Between a demo, Kickstarter, and Steam Early Access launch, there's a lot to get excited about - Astrobotanica has big plans for 2025.
Kickstarter Campaign Coming Soon
We are glad to announce that just in a couple of months we will be launching a Kickstarter campaign. With your support, we hope to accelerate the game's development and to enhance the initial design to make the game bigger, longer and even more engaging. Stay tuned for details such as pledges, goals, and reward tiers, and of course, unique features available only via Kickstarter.
Alpha Testing for Backers
As one of several initiatives to engage our community in the development of the game, we’re planning to invite Kickstarter backers to play a closed Alpha build via Steam. This holds true to the studio’s promise to work on ASTROBOTANICA transparently and act on community feedback. We hope you’re as excited to play the game long before anyone else, as we are to invite players this early into the development cycle.
Public Demo
Following the Alpha testing, we plan to implement all feedback, and go ahead with a release of public Demo via Steam in the second half of the year. This will provide an excellent opportunity to showcase the results of the community collaboration. By inviting more players to immerse in the vibrant world of ASTROBOTANICA, we hope to test every aspect of the game, and to generate new ideas and suggestions for the next milestone - Early Access release. Details will be announced once we make progress and plans crystallize. Thus, follow us to not miss any important details.
ASTROBOTANICA Gameplay
Set 300,000 years ago during Earth’s Pleistocene era, ASTROBOTANICA invites players into a lush open-world environment full of primal flora and fauna. As an alien botanist named Xel, you will navigate survival challenges and engage in:
 1. Cultivation: Nurturing plant species and learning how to manage farming in Earth's environtments.
 2. Plant research: Experimenting with fruit to discover their unique qualities and effects on living organisms and the environment.
 3. Exploration: Discovering new plants in diverse biomes, learning to tackle dangerous wildlife and solve hidden mysteries.
 4. Tonics Crafting: Mixing ingredients obtained from local plant life to manufacture mixtures for various uses, and developing recipes for later.
 5. Human Interaction: Breaking the ice and connecting with primal humans inhabiting the islands, to foster relationships that can lead to trading or mutual assistance.

There’s much more to ASTROBOTANICA, which you will have the opportunity to experience firsthand very soon.
Future Development Plans
Among other ideas, we are planning on implementing co-op features for ASTROBOTANICA at some point between the early access release and 1.0 launch. This multiplayer experience will allow players to collaborate by sharing resources, taking roles, changing shifts in game’s errands, and embark on adventures and exploration together. We are actively working on these features, thus, we invite you to participate in discussions on our socials and help shape the future of ASTROBOTANICA.

This upcoming survival game promises an unusual twist: You're an alien botanist who's crash-landed on Earth 300,000 years ago

In most survival games, you're cast naked and alone in a fantastical world with nothing but a rock and a stick to help you stay alive. The upcoming Astrobotanica promises to be a little different: Instead of playing as a human trying desperately to survive in an alien environment, you're an alien facing the same challenge on Earth in the very distant past...

New survival game Astrobotanica feels like Subnautica on land

It's safe to say that Subnautica has very much earned its place as one of my favorite videogames of all time. Despite the dangers that lurk in the dark, floating around the vast oceans of a weird, wonderful aquatic world never gets old. But Subnautica 2 is far, far away if Unknown Worlds' most recent comments are anything to go by, so I've found myself craving something new but equally as chill. Enter Astrobotanica, a brand-new survival game from a team of industry veterans.
