Live Stream: Developer and His Wife Playing

Hi guys! My wife and I will try to fully complete the first mission by accomplishing all the tasks:

  1. Achieve the highest score in all mini-games
  2. Defeat all the bosses
  3. Collect all bonuses (speed tracks, Pandora's boxes, hidden wall caches, etc.)

I will be playing on the keyboard, and my wife will be using a gamepad. We look forward to seeing you on the stream!

Prisoner of ASCII-Boss

Hi everyone!

A few days ago, I realized what my game was missing. In every mission, I wanted to defeat a REALLY tough boss. It's cool that there's such a boss in the mini-games, but not in the main game. So, I made one!

The big boss is made of symbols. A creature from the alphanumeric ASCII world bursts into the Pixel game. The idea is that the big bosses are roughly digitized characters from classic visual art. The first boss in the demo version is inspired by Munch's "The Scream".

The big boss guards a prisoner. Defeat the boss, free the prisoner, and get a keycard from them for locked rooms. I hope you like it!

Have a great end of the week!

DevLog #2

Hello everyone! First of all, let me announce that the game's free demo is now available! This is the very first version. I'll be glad to receive any feedback and suggestions! Currently, the demo includes one mission. I believe it can be completed in about an hour if you complete all the tasks. Please, give it a try!

Rank

Implemented hero rank. At the beginning of the game, the rank is set to one. The maximum rank value is five. Hero rank affects the number of slots in the deck. The higher the rank, the more cartridges can be activated simultaneously.

To increase the hero rank, you need to collect chips. Chips are awarded for completing arcades. Complete an arcade - get chips. The better the arcade is completed, the more chips are awarded for it.

New level decor elements

Added several new decorative elements to make the level look more vibrant. Broken arcade machines on the street, flower beds, lamps, and antennas on the roof.

Game controls

Implemented three possible control options for the game:
  1. Keyboard. Arrow keys for movement. Space - attack. Tab - deck management. "M" key - map.
  2. Keyboard + Mouse. Movement with WASD keys, left mouse button for attack, right mouse button for deck management.
  3. Gamepad. Movement with D-pad or Stick. Attack - "A" or right bumper. "B" - deck management. "Y" - map.
It's possible to combine all options.

Thank you!

Neo-N Mode

Few days ago, my game's textures glitched out, and it switched into text mode. It looked so cool that I decided to turn this bug into a feature. If you approach the computer terminal sticking out of the floor, you can enter 'Neo-N Mode' for one minute.

In this mode:

  • Bosses can't harm you in close combat - you can breeze through tough sections.
  • Hidden passages in walls become visible.
  • HOWEVER, you can't play mini-games, bring up the map, or interact with other interactive elements.

Pandora's Cardboard Box

Just added a Pandora's Cardboard Box to my game Coin-Op Vice. It works quite simply: there's a 50% chance it'll hit and take away a life, and a 50% chance it'll give you a new cartridge. You can adjust the percentages in your favor by leveling up the Trap Detector skill.
