Hexwind Update 38: Fire and Brimstone

[/p][p]Our incredible environment artist Will Phillips is at it again. This update he turned his talented and ever critical eye on expanding the work he has been doing in the Fire World. You will see a number of new environments with beautiful unique crafted pieces that only could have been forged in the devastating heat of the Fire World. [/p][p]
[/p][h3]A Surprise For Your Enemies[/h3][p]
[/p][p]The Inquisitor has a new trick up his sleeve. As you accumulate score in your battle against Chaos, your score meter in the HUD fills up getting you closer to the next rarity tier for your reward when completing an act. Now, when you get enough points to achieve a new rarity tier in battle you will instantly fire off a massive wave of devastating magic, laying waste to any enemies around you. They never saw it coming…[/p][p]
[/p][h3]Finding Balance[/h3][p]
[/p][p]We are continuing to tune progression and balance of our missions in HexWind. This week we are releasing step 1 of a multistep endeavour to ensure ramp up of difficulty is smooth for new and beginner players. This step will bring some subtle differences in mission generation for Acts 1 and 2 which we will continue to build on in upcoming updates to give you the best chance at sending Lochmog back where he came from![/p][p]

HexWind Update #37 - Run Rewards and HUD Redesign

Hey VR diehards - it's our first update post in a while, but we've been hard at work lately including this week's update bringing new daily run rewards, a completely redesigned HUD, and new environments for fire levels.

[h2]Daily Run Rewards & Charms[/h2]
We've made a handful of changes to daily runs recently including adding a bonus for completing a daily run that applies to Campaign Mode. You can now see the bonus available above the Daily Run slot on the sarcophagus before beginning a run, along with the bonus it provides. We also added three new unlockable charms, available as run rewards, and purchasable from the store between missions. Plus, you can now check out charms in the Codex, as with Tarots and Enemy cards.

[h2]New HUD Design[/h2]
We totally overhauled the combat HUD in this update, aiming to make information easier to understand and way better looking in line with the style of the rest of the game. Your health and stamina bars now change size depending on bonuses or penalties you have to base health, and provide clearer feedback when you take damage or spend stamina. We also added some amazing 2D feedback effects for when you've got a spell charged up to use - a different effect for each element. Our artist Will did awesome work on this, harkening back to some classic magic action games.

We also added a score bar that shows progress on reward tiers in combat, so you can see how close you are to hitting the next target. We're going to bring a few more HUD improvements in Update 38, including to the score bar, plus better integrating the threat indicator with the new HUD.

[h2]Fire Environments[/h2]
Will was on fire in this update! (I'm not sorry) Not just with the HUD changes, but he also wrapped up the first of some big changes to Fire environments we're rolling out. Fire was our earliest elemental map set in HexWind, and they got the job done for amazing gameplay. But the recent work on the Storm and Metal environments raised the bar so high we knew that going back to give some love to the fire environments could really pay off. Check them out and be careful where you step!

HexWind Update #34 - Metal II

[p]Hey VR diehards! HexWind Update 34 is live now, our second drop for the July Metal Update, with big changes to leaderboards, Storm-magic themed levels, and Tarot cards. Let's get into it![/p][p][/p][h2]Leaderboards [/h2][p]Our biggest addition is the new HexWind Leaderboard, featuring the highest ranked players in the game! This overall score is your all-time high campaign score, plus your scores on the seven most recent daily run boards. Congrats to MisterSatisfied, our inaugural top player on the HexWind Leaderboard![/p][p][/p][h2]
Storm Levels, Tarots, and Spell Tiers Unlocked in Daily Run Mode[/h2][p]We've got some beautiful and terrifying new map tiles in Storm levels with this update. Lightning everywhere. Tarot Cards now have rarity similar to Charms, which is a teaser for some upcoming changes to how we give rewards for completing runs.

Also, we changed Spell Tiers in Daily Run mode to unlock all three tiers for the entirety of a daily run. It was technically possible to unlock tier 3 in a daily run before, but it basically required ignoring every other possible change you could buy in the Arcane Bazaar. Plus Tier 3 spells are SO MUCH FUN, it felt bad the old way. [/p][p][/p][h2]Localization[/h2][p]We've been working to introduce localization support for in-game text for some time, and with this update we're ready to roll out partial support for Spanish and German. We know how important quality is for localization support, so here's a link to our discussion thread localization and how our process works.
