Meet the Romans! - Albina Virgilia

King Arthur: Legion IX is an upcoming dark fantasy tactical RPG set in the world of our previous similar game, King Arthur: Knight's Tale.

Today we are introducing another companion: Albina Virgilia, the Flamina.

  • She is a former Vestal Virgin who broke her oath and for her sin, she was buried alive somewhere in Rome. She is one of the recruitable companions who was not sent by Sulla, she came to Avalon and she was offered a chance to live as a priestess by the Lady of the Lake. She is still serving Vesta, bringing a piece of the Roman faith to the island, but she accepts other gods. She represents "Life".
  • Before the Storm, Albina was responsible for stoking the Divine Fire that let other Roman souls find a home in Avalon, essentially establishing a prosperous Roman colony. But all of this was destroyed when Chaos erupted, and Albina had to hide herself with a spell. It will be up to the player to release her.
  • In the game, she will take the role of a Flamina, a priestess, and she will be the opposite of Plutonius Nerva. Because of this, it will be obvious from the start that they will not share a common goal and will develop conflicts. Don't let Albina's polite and kind demeanor fool you, though! She too has a vision for the future of Legion IX, and will do everything in her power to work towards this goal.

Meet the Romans! - Plutonius Nerva

King Arthur: Legion IX is an upcoming dark fantasy tactical RPG set in the world of our previous similar game, King Arthur: Knight's Tale.

Today we are introducing Plutonius Nerva the Flamen, the first companion of Gaius Julius Mento (main protagonist of Legion IX).

  • Plutonius is a priest of Orcus, god of the underworld and an advisor to Sulla, devoted to him since the times of Ebolacrum. He is a very influential and powerful person, his demeanor will reflect this. He is a somewhat aggressive, threatening character, however, very loyal to Sulla.
  • He traversed Tartarus to gather a legion of the undead, and as a priest of Orcus, he sees unlimited potential in the existence beyond life. He thinks he's immortal and he's a cruel fatalist. He will also be a representative of one of the extremes of the new morality chart, on the side of Death.
  • He imagines Eternal Rome, an otherworldly place ruling over both the living and the dead, under the command of Emperor Sulla. Upon arriving to Avalon, he immediately sees the opportunity to start building such a place.
  • Plutonius Nerva will join Gaius Julius Mento, hoping to lead Legion IX to conquer Avalon, Britannia... and perhaps the entire world!

Meet the main character!

King Arthur: Legion IX is our upcoming dark fantasy tactical RPG, a standalone story set in the world of our previous game, King Arthur: Knight’s Tale.

Legion IX features a brand new point of view of an undead legion who come to Avalon to conquer the magical island. Their leader is the main protagonist, Gaius Julius Mento. He is, above all, an undead Roman legionary who has just fought his way back from the Roman underworld, the Tartarus. He finds himself on the magical island of Avalon, otherworld of all Arthurian knights.

The Tribunus is a born commander, a highly intelligent and dutiful man, who doesn’t take everything too seriously, mostly as a partial consequence of him being dead and a prisoner of the underworld for a long time. He is not afraid of self-irony, which could be in stark contrast to his quite terrifying look as a creature of Tartarus.

In the game, he will present himself as a middle-aged, authoritative and commanding person, who's witty and knowledgeable at the same time. He should prove to be an interesting character to control in his quest to establish Nova Roma.

As he traverses the land of Avalon, he will meet new companions that can join his party. In these new conversations, you might learn more about his past, his future ambitions and his personality – however, the ultimate decision about his fate will be yours. Based on your choices, Gaius Julius Mento can either step on the path to redemption or on the path to embrace his demonic side.

But why don't I let the man of the hour introduce himself in the trailer for the game?

If you are looking forward to Legion IX, make sure to wishlist it on Steam. Until then, you may try out the many new additions to King Arthur: Knight’s Tale, such as the Patch 2.0 overhaul or the new seasonal update, Rising Eclipse. You can also look forward to the console release of King Arthur: Knight's Tale on February 22!
