DEMO UPDATE - v0.40.0

Hello dear Goblins, we want to announce an important update in the Demo that brings with it several changes in gameplay, Quality of Life and content, as well as some Bugfixes.
This major update will be the one we will use to participate in the Steam next fest that will take place from the 10th to the 17th of next month, we hope you enjoy it!

We also added the possibility to leave us feedback and report bugs from the game by pressing (F8) or filling this Form. Your opinion really matters to us!



Patchnotes:


General:
  • Physics: Improved client-server physics.
  • Controller Camera: Smoothed character and camera movement, significantly reducing motion sickness for some players.
  • Loot Chest: Added a golden chest that needs to be filled with loot to complete the level.


Restorable Objects:
  • Improved logic for updating objects correctly when adding or removing items.
  • πŸ†• You can now place an object by pointing directly at the restorable.
  • πŸ†• Added an "optional" type of restorable marked in green.
  • πŸ†• Unrestored objects now have a red outline to easily distinguish them from restored objects.
  • Fixed a bug where restored objects appeared floating or unrestored when joining an ongoing game.
  • Improved UI while the object is being restored.
  • Reduced restoration time from 2 seconds to 1 second.


Slime Dispenser:
  • πŸ†• Lever changed from grab to Interact (E) to create slime.
  • πŸ†• Can create between 1 to 4 slimes per interaction.
  • πŸ†• Added a limit of 50 slimes.


Slime:
  • πŸ†• Big Slime, allows up to 4 slimes to combine for easier transport.
  • πŸ†• Fire Slime, cleans multiple stains at once, cannot be combined into Big Slime.
  • Slightly increased slime absorption capacity before death.
  • πŸ†• Added a small delay after slime dies before it starts staining with blood, accompanied by a small animation and sound.
  • Slightly increased absorption capacity


Tools:
  • Slimop:
    • πŸ†• Now you can skewer meat chunks and feed the mimic.
    • Fixed a bug where dropping the impaled object with (X) didn't work properly.
  • πŸ†• Managon: The third tool to add and remove mana from objects. Objects with mana are highlighted in purple when targeted.


Blood Stain:
  • Fixed a visual error where stains could look β€œstretched”.
  • The visual appearance of the stains was improved and varieties were added.



πŸ†•Mana Objects:
  • New task to complete the dungeon by filling or emptying mana objects.
  • Current mana objects:
    • Vines
    • Flowers
    • Poisonous mushroom
    • Torches
    • Spinning blade


Mimic:
  • Adjusted behavior when eating multiple chunks of meat at once.
  • Reduced interaction time to grab the mimic.
  • Now shows a message when it cannot be placed.
  • The mimic now shows affection when fed!


Levels:
  • πŸ†• Added 2 completely new levels and improved level 2.
  • Removed level 1.


Objects:
  • πŸ†• Added the oven to cook slimes and meats.
  • Removed the bucket (RIP 2024-2024).
  • Added various props in different levels.
  • Added various pickups in different levels.


πŸ†•Altars:
  • Added altars that function as respawn points. Activate an altar by interacting with it.


πŸ†•Staff Room:
  • πŸ†• Added Staff Room at the beginning of each level.
  • πŸ†• Added a punch clock in the staff room to end levels at any time.
  • πŸ†• Added the employee book where you can read general help about the game mechanics.


Level Completion:
  • πŸ†• Progression system added to unlock levels.
  • πŸ†• Reward system added, based on performance throughout the level.


Traps:
  • Eye Trap: Adjusted behavior and received visual improvements
    • πŸ†• Added ballista trap.
    • πŸ†• Added spinning blade trap that works with mana.


πŸ†•Darkness System:
  • First version of the light & darkness system.
  • Reworked general lighting to match the new light and darkness system.


Communications:
  • πŸ†• Added ingame text chat.
  • πŸ†• Added ingame voice chat.


Misc:
  • πŸ†• Localization: Added translations for English, Spanish (Latin America), and Portuguese (Brazil).
  • πŸ†• Controller Support: Full controller support for menus and gameplay.


Menu & UI:
  • Revamped all menus to facilitate navigation with controller.
  • Players can no longer join servers with different game versions.

  • Added a tutorial visible only in level 1.


Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed several bugs including slimes falling through the floor, floating mimic, issues with the slime dispenser, and more.

We've got a Kickstarter!

Goblin Cleanup's demo launched just four months ago, and we've been overwhelmed by your amazing response! It's truly humbling, exciting, and so inspiring that finding the right words is almost a challenge!

First off, we want to share that we're diligently working on the next update for our demo. We're aiming to release it just before the upcoming Steam fest on June 10th. We apologize for the delayβ€”being a small team of three, we're pushing ourselves to the limits to make this happen.

  • Localization in three languages: English, Spanish, and Portuguese (Brazil)
  • Both voice and text chat functionalities
  • An interactive tutorial
  • Plus, exciting new levels!
  • We've also been busy squashing bugs and implementing several quality of life improvements to enhance your gaming experience.


And there's more big newsβ€”we're launching a KICKSTARTER campaign! While we're keeping the details under wraps for now, we’re planning fantastic rewards for our backers and are thrilled about producing a new trailer for the campaign launch.
