MAGFest Takeaways!

Now that MAGFest 2024 is over, check out some of Programancer’s highlights gathered from both machines at our booth this past weekend!
ZERO (0) actual crashes!
Hurray! No crashes!
Death Waits for Thee!
Players who embarked on their journey perished a total of 1,392 times across the whole event! And, call it a coincidence, but BOTH the left and right machines at our booth were EQUAL in number of deaths before combining them into the final sum!
Longest Individual Playthrough!
Clocking in at 5 hours and 48 minutes on the left machine, this was the longest playtime someone had with the demo at the booth!! And, for what it’s worth, the right machine’s longest playtime came in at 2 hours and 12 minutes (right machine).
Total Good Boys Petted!
As it turns out, there were 462 instances of folks wanting to find out if you could pet the dogs in the game--and found out they did!

The First Lore-ific Details!

It’s good to have an idea of the world and the “why” when you’re on your Transylvanian adventure! Get to know some of the lore of The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest (TASQ)!

****
In the year 15XX, a once peaceful Romania was in unfathomable turmoil…

Dracula, a long slain vampire, was once again given flesh and was sending hordes of demonic undead to pillage the land.

A disgraced vampire hunter named Simon Quest then embarked on a journey to end Dracula's reign of terror and restore honor to his family name.

Unbeknownst to Simon, the vampire hunter Stan Helsing had defeated Dracula, and sealed his body away into five tombs to lock his soul in Hell.

Learning he was too late, a frustrated Simon decided he should piece Dracula back together to defeat him and reclaim his lost glory.

...and so our Transylvania Adventure begins...
Programancer Dev Log #1

Following the release of Prison City, Programancer’s back cookin’ up something very special! Get a glimpse into his insight behind The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest (TASQ)!
Well, here we are! On the road to another game! How does it feel jumping focus from Prison City to TASQ?
Programancer: Feels pretty good! It was fun working on something very kinetic and action heavy like Prison City, but I want to get back to whippin' Draculas.
What similarities do you think exists between Prison City and TASQ?
Programancer: Well, I kind of started Prison City as the antithesis to TASQ- TASQ is a slow burning adventure with a lot of adventury things to do, and Prison City is a much smaller game in scope. They’re definitely two completely different animals, despite the NES-esque trappings!
Any key differences between Prison City and TASQ? Especially ones you wanted to highlight.
Programancer: Where Prison City is a game all about your movement and very kinetic in nature, TASQ sees a much more deliberate approach- it has committed jumps (with some concessions for aerial mobility). Prison City is more about hitting each level and making your way to the end, but TASQ has a world that lets you explore a bit and kind of live in it.

Stay tuned for even more insights behind TASQ’s development with Programancer!
