Meet Snorri

Hello shield maidens and vikings!

Today we want to introduce the resident skald in Vikings Dynasty to you.

Meet Snorri.



He is one of the first characters you’ll meet on your journey through the Steynajar archipelago.

Snorri’s quests will introduce you to exploration as well as all the important features of Viking life like hunting, fishing, swimming and the deeply rooted need for courage as well as caring for your loved ones.

He might also offer you advice on setting up your first village, once you have earned the right to do so.

In the tradition of great skalds, he is not only a poet and great musician, but also a storyteller and entertainer. And he won’t shy away from commenting on your actions with his signature sense of humour.

Some might say, he would give Dandelion a run for his money when it comes to tongue-in-cheek quips.

Skalds were highly respected figures, often attached to chieftains or kings, where they composed and recited poetry praising their patrons' deeds, lineage, and battles. Before the Norse tradition was passed down in written form, they were basically the only form of history keepers.

Some noteworthy skalds you might have heard of, are Bragi Boddason (early 9th century), Gunnlaugr Ormstunga (late 10th century), who earned himself the nickname “Wormtongue” because of his satirical content (something that Snorri will also show in spades) or his namesake Snorri Sturloson, who historians say is responsible for authoring and compiling the Edda, described as the most detailed source for what we know about Norse mythology.



So, treat Snorri well and be respectful. Your survival in this rough world might depend on it. And so will your dynasty, since the presence of a skald will increase dynasty points. But we will get to that later.
