Meet Freydis

Hej shield maidens and Vikings,

A few weeks back we introduced Snorri to you, the resident skald in the world of Vikings Dynasty.

Today we want you to meet yet another important character on the Steineyjar Islands: Freydis, the female jarl of the archipelago.
She will play a vital role in the personal journey of your hero or heroine and will also have the occasional quest waiting for you.

When you eventually meet her, stay humble and pay your respect, for in the storm-lashed Steineyjar archipelago, where only the strongest will survive, she stands as a legend. A fierce warrior, a determined sailor and the current jarl of the port village of Kaldaborg.
That she undisputedly is holding a position usually reserved for male leaders, should tell you more than enough about her resilience and unbreakable spirit.



She is a seasoned traveller, journeying with her brother in her youth, before fate struck and she was left to carve her own destiny, eventually leading her to Steineyjar Islands. Her story is one of triumph and tragedy, her life is shaped by the sea and a burning desire to prove to the gods that she is unbreakable.

Her leadership is pragmatic, based on experience and knowledge, not on superstition. She wields power not only through might but also through her innate ability to navigate the emotional and political challenges of the position she is holding.
This way she symbolizes the duality of Viking heroines: Revered yet feared. Uncompromising, yet human.

She is a jarl not only because she is strong or determined, but because she persevered. In a world where only the ruthless survive, she stands as a testament for what it means to rise, even when thunderous waves try to drag you under.



The inspiration for her character is as multi-faceted as her traits and role in the game. You might notice characteristics from other important female figures in Viking culture, although we tried to put our own spin on her as much as on all characters and make her really unique, while bending the perception of the role of females in Viking society. But we will talk about that in detail soon enough.
