VR and flat mode – which is easier to play?

Friends, we are closely monitoring your feedback and see that you are concerned about the effectiveness of pilots with different ways of immersing themselves in the game (pilots with VR devices and those who will use a monitor).

To be clear: in Aces of Thunder, there is only cockpit view and only realistic control options. There is no “mouse aiming” here – the game was planned from the very beginning as a realistic simulator, where all participants are in equally “adult” conditions.

So we do not think that the “flat” mode (without VR) has any noticeable advantage – rather the opposite. The player in VR is better informed about what is happening around them (contacts are more visible, since all game objects and planes have real dimensions, and the perception of distance in VR is more accurate). Although with a large monitor, a good joystick and sufficient experience, the capabilities of players are quite comparable. Nevertheless, we are studying how different devices can affect the balance and its subjective perception.

We want to assure you that we are studying the necessity of implementing matchmaking taking into account the image output option. We are conducting tests, analysing data and will definitely make a decision that will be fair and convenient for all players. Thank you for your passion and your feedback — every comment helps us improve the game. We're on the same wavelength and will make sure to choose the path that serves the best interests of the majority of players.
