[INTERNAL MEMO] Discoveries of new Blocks and Alien Species

Greetings, Platform Managers!

Those of you who read last week’s company-wide memo on the new developments to mineshafts may have noticed something slightly different in the images we shared…new blocks have been discovered!

The R ‘n’ D Department has been hard at work undertaking on-site research, and has discovered multiple new types of blocks and several new alien species which you’ll soon be interacting with during your contracts. Remember, a safe workforce means less spending on hiring and training replacements!

New Block Types

Multiple new types of blocks have been discovered in both the Cave and Frost Biomes; whilst the R ‘n’ D Department has not completed their research on all of these discoveries just yet (don't worry, they 'volunteered' to work overtime to resolve this issue within their workflow'), we are able to share some of these developments with you.

In the Cavern Biome, you’ll notice 4 new types of blocks; these include the Black Hole Block, which every so often will create a spacial rift in a block within a 2-block radius, and will after a short period of time pull whatever occupies that space (including your team members) into the black hole. Any ore contained within that previous block will disappear, and you will find coal in its place - so you’ll need to plan accordingly not to lose precious resources! Another block you’ll notice now in Cavern Biomes is the Explosive Block, which will explode a few seconds after reaching less than 10% HP; this will cause damage to all living creatures and blocks within a 1-block radius, so be wary.

In the Frost Biome, you’ll find 5 new block types which will need their own unique strategies to handle; these include the Whirlwind Block, which periodically pushes away blocks within a 5 block radius, crushing anything in the pushed block’s path, and the Cryostone Block, which regenerates over time in the location it was destroyed.

New Aliens

The R ‘n’ D Department has also discovered 6 new enemies within various biomes, which all Platform Managers will be encountering soon. Whilst not all of these species have been fully vivisected investigated just yet, they include the Revigor, found on Cavernous planets, which leaves a cloud upon its death that reinvigorates surrounding aliens; the Sentrix, which prefers Frost planets and periodically generates an impenetrable shield around itself; and the Raptor, found in the Jungle Biome, which increases the speed of all nearby enemies.

Naturally, you’ll need to prepare accordingly to handle these new species, utilizing your buildings and turrets to ensure optimized performance and minimal loss of life during your contracts. Luckily, we’ll be sharing more about the development of new turrets and buildings next week, so you’ll be able to strategize accordingly.

[INTERNAL MEMO] Mine shaft developments

Greetings, Platform Managers!

As shared in last week’s company-wide memo, the Drill Core Inc. R ‘n’ D Department are hard at work on various new developments which seek to improve the efficacy of all Platform Managers, and we’d like to share some of these latest initiatives, and how they’ll impact the mine shafts you will discover during your contracts, with you today.

Larger Mineshafts

Due to recent discoveries in a new, thinner type of resolit, the R ‘n’ D Department has now been able to make alterations to the landing sites of mining platforms, allowing a greater variance in the mine shafts you’ll be able to extract valuable resources from on each planet. Not only will you notice more variety in the shape of the mines themselves, but they’ll also be far wider and deeper than previous shafts.

It’s currently estimated that mineshafts will be 3-4 times wider due to these changes, allowing Platform Managers to direct the mining of far more blocks per contract.

More Varied Mineshaft Pathways

Progression in Drill Core Inc.’s understanding of resolit will also have one more notable impact on your mining operations: mineshafts will now have much greater variety in shape, with indestructible resolit blocks creating unique pathways within the shafts themselves.
It’s highly recommended for all Platform Managers to inform your workers of these changes, as they may make returning to the Platform at night a more timely process.

Deeper Drilling Available

The R ‘n’ D Department have also been hard at work in researching new drilling techniques and technologies, and progress in this area now means that all Platform Managers will now be able to drill deeper on planets, going well beyond the previous maximum of 1000m.

This will allow for a notable increase in the excavation of valuable resources, and we look forward to seeing all Platform Managers’ reported income from contracts increasing in the imminent future!

We do hope that the transparency around these upcoming developments has a positive impact on your mining operations going forward, and will be sharing more developments regarding some new mining block discoveries with you soon.

[INTERNAL MEMO] Upcoming company developments

Greetings, Platform Managers!

We are pleased to share that the Drill Core Inc. R’n’D Department is hard at work on a range of new technologies which seek to improve the already-stellar offering within the company, further empowering all Platform Managers to achieve continued success during their mining operations.

With this in mind, the Board of Directors would like to share some of these upcoming developments with our esteemed Managers, in the hopes that it will enable you to strategize your future operations more efficiently.

New Mining Capabilities

The R’n’D Department has managed to successfully discover and research thinner layers of indestructible resolit for the landing sites of your platform, which will result in much more varied shaft outlines. This discovery will allow Platform Managers to drill further out from the platform itself, creating wider, deeper mineshafts. This means more blocks to drill for your Miners, allowing you to fully optimize every contract for those valuable resources. Developments in this technology also mean you will be able to drill deeper on each planet - even descending past 1000m!
Please note that these layers may also host new types of aliens which our Managers have not yet encountered. We are investigating this matter and will share further information when available in a separate report from our R'n'D department.

New Departments

As our company has been growing larger and larger, leading up to 1000 reviews on our corporate Steam page, we have decided it's time to restructure and expand. We're incredibly pleased to share that several new departments will be created in Drill Core Inc. in the imminent future; you’ll be able to select one department from the pre-operational mining screen to monitor your progress and reward you for your achievements. The selected department will gain experience equal to your Division Level, and for every level that department gains, you’ll be rewarded with Technologies or Resources.
Platform Managers will only be able to select one department at a time for these rewards, but there will be no penalty for changing your selection.

These departments include:
  • Department of Unethical Innovations
  • Department of Aggressive Negotiations
  • Department of Accidental Safety
  • Department of Overly Dramatic Solutions
  • Department of Chaotic Optimization
  • Department of Excessive Wealth

We hope you’ll welcome these new departments enthusiastically, Platform Managers!

Of course, the team here at Drill Core Inc. are working on much more within their cubicles, and soon we’ll be able to share with you more information about new Turrets, Buildings, Aliens and more.
