Wild Assault Early Access: Producer's Note April 17

Hello Wild Ones,

I am Lantin, head of Combat Cat Studio and the producer behind Wild Assault. What a week it has been since we launched into Early Access on April 11! On behalf of the entire team, I want to thank you for your support and for all the invaluable bug reports and suggestions. This feedback is precisely why we are committed to making the most of Early Access to elevate Wild Assault to the next level. Now, allow me to address some of your most pressing questions and dive into what is coming next.

It has been an exciting week, for us obviously, and for you as well we hope. The team evaluates community feedback, social media comments, and ingame feedback on a daily basis. We have been working at full power on bug fixes and gameplay improvements.

As of today, we have issued hotfixes daily (including weekends). 6 hotfixes have been deployed, addressing more than 50 bugs and improving the overall gameplay experience across multiple aspects.
We identified and resolved the matchmaking issue that led to a noticeable shortage of actual players in some rounds.
  • We added the Invert Mouse Y Axis settings option to better serve your gaming needs.
  • We have removed the Battle Pass weekly XP cap (which previously limited player progress) after reviewing community feedback. Compensation has also been issued.
  • We have also made further adjustments to the matchmaking system based on current player counts and server status. This remains an ongoing task requiring constant evaluation and fine-tuning.
  • We have increased the Valiant proficiency earned from matches, as requested by the community.

With your support and the developers hard work, the current build is now much more stable, ensuring a solid gameplay experience. Over the next week, we will continue addressing known issues and implementing improvements focused on critical aspects. After that, we will dedicate more development time to the new content we have prepared for this season. Our overall strategy is as follows:
  • Critical issues will always be prioritized and resolved as quickly as possible. This remains our top commitment.
  • We have also prepared exciting and interesting events for this season, and we will share more details soon.
  • As planned, each season will last for 3 months. During each season, we aim to introduce different game modes, new maps, and new Valiants.
We also plan to release an updated roadmap for Wild Assault. Please follow our social media channels to stay informed.

We understand that trust is not built easily, especially across national borders, time zones, cultural differences, and diverse ways of life. However, the studio and I firmly believe that through transparency, consistent communication, and a shared passion for this project, we can bridge these gaps and forge a strong, lasting connection.

We are amazed by the fan art you have created, touched by your reviews on Steam, inspired by the creative suggestions you have shared, and motivated by the passion you have expressed for Wild Assault. All of this has reinforced our belief in you, in ourselves, and in the potential we are building together.

Good day, Wild Ones!

Since the Early Access release of Wild Assault, we are deeply grateful for the positive feedback from all the Wild Ones regarding the game. Currently, we have urgently addressed and optimized most of the issues reported by the community. As for some unresolved anomalies, we are still identifying and analyzing their causes. Additionally, we are thoroughly discussing the various feedback and concerns raised by the community regarding their gaming experiences.

A hotfix is rolling out on April 16, 2025. In-game matches won't be affected by this update. However matchmaking may not function normally during the process. Please exit the game, complete the update, and launch your game client again.

  1. Further optimized the matchmaking mechanism.
  2. Adjusted several lore descriptions for better consistency.
  3. Improved the clarity of Erwin’s ability descriptions.
  4. Enhanced Easy Anti-Cheat notification prompts for better visibility.

[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
  1. Fixed unintended aiming/damage behavior for shotguns.
  2. Fixed an issue where Uly’s aim indicator would persist if he was downed while his Q ability was active.
  3. Fixed the Ulymobile being blocked by Vladimir’s shield.
  4. Fixed a terrain-clipping issue when deploying near teammates under certain conditions.

[h3]Matchmaking Issues[/h3]

After days of thorough investigation, we’ve finally identified and resolved the matchmaking issue that led to a noticeable shortage of actual players in some rounds. With this fix, battles in Wild Assault will now be more competitive and enjoyable. We apologize for this and that’s a big PHEW!

[h3]Battle Pass Localization Issues[/h3]

  • Why We Issued the Refund on April 13

    • To improve the Battle Pass player experience, we removed the weekly XP cap and made an official announcement on April 13. For players who purchased the Premium Pass (1380 Beast Coins) to level up despite the XP cap, we issued refunds after removing the XP cap.
  • Localization Issues That Caused Confusion

    • However, we discovered that our localization partner provided incorrect English translations for the Battle Pass names. The pass costing 880 Beast Coins should have been titled "Advanced Pass," while the pass priced at 1380 Beast Coins should have been named "Premium Pass." We corrected this in today's hotfix and sincerely apologize for any confusion caused by this error.

[h2]Optimizations[/h2]
  • Optimized the red dot notification logic on the user interface to prevent it from reappearing when the game client reconnects to the server after a disconnection caused by unstable internet connections.
  • Adjusted the scoring system in Raid mode on The Crucent Bay: The Attackers’ maximum points are now 150, with a 50-point reward for capturing each objective zone.

[h2]Bug Fixes[/h2]
  • Fixed the issue where explosives could deal damage through walls.
  • Fixed an issue where Ryan could still use his Charge (E ability) while knocked down.
  • Fixed an issue where Erwin's Q ability could infinitely revive teammates.
  • Fixed an animation glitch and weapon pose issue when Erwin revived teammates immediately after casting her Q ability.
  • Fixed an animation glitch when Erwin switches to her primary weapon while her Q ability is active.
  • Fixed the incorrect kill icon art for Vladimir's Fury Cannon takedowns.
  • Fixed an issue where Zhenshan's E ability animation would glitch during tactical sprint.
  • Fixed an issue where rapidly releasing and re-pressing LMB during spraying could cause the LMG to jam.
  • Fixed an issue where Zhenshan’s ultimate ability minimap would persist after being taken down while the ultimate was active.
  • Fixed an issue where attackers' deployments were unintentionally destroyed when switching phases in WA Raid mode.
  • Fixed a crash caused by minimap image data overflow.

  1. Fixed Erwin's Q ability causing firing jamming.
  2. Fixed the issue where Erwin's weapon model remained visible when reviving squad mate while her Q was active.
  3. Fixed the issue where Vladimir's talent, which refunds cooldown on Z ability miss, was not functioning.
  4. Fixed Zhenshan's E ability removing Jack's Z ability warning range.
  5. Fixed the issue where players occasionally couldn't claim the 400 XP per item reward after maxing out the pass level.
  6. Fixed the issue where the red dot notification did not disappear after claiming Battle Pass rewards.
  7. Fixed several localization errors.
  8. Fixed unintended roof access near attacker spawn on The Crescent Bay.
  9. Fixed the floating issue near the roof area in B1 on The Ricky Mountains caused by abnormal collision.
