Gameplay rework. Bye bye dash! Welcome checkpoints!

This update introduces a few changes that impact the game enormously!

  • Dash has been removed
  • Beginner mode added


In this update we have removed the dash from the game. We found that the game became too easy at certain points where this was not our intended design. So we made the decision to remove the dash and put more focus on the main mechanic of kicking. Now your kicks matter more, so be cautious!

We have also added a beginner mode. This mode introduces checkpoints to help you complete the level. Leaderboard entries will be ignored in beginner mode and your best time won't be saved.

Change of gameplay

Hey there martial artists!

After some internal brainstorming we have decided to change our approach for level design, instead of the small individual levels we are making large levels which combine many of the elements of previous smaller levels. We feel that these levels will fit better with the main mechanic of the game and make it more enjoyable for casual players, while still keeping it's speed running aspects to it. Here is already a small showcase of the level and the other changes we made!



New features / changes:
  • Created one large level
  • Improved the feeling and effects from kicking
  • Added new skeletons that explain the mechanics and story
  • Added a Satan voice that speak to the player and adds story to the game
  • Player movement has been improved to feel better
  • The performance of the game has greatly improved
  • The replay model is now more transparent
  • Improved UI: new buttons, text bar, ...

So hop on Kick'n Hell and test the newest "Circle of Fraud" level and let us know in our Discord server, where we want to build an active and helpful community!

Furthermore have we launched the demo as a separate Steam page!! You can now review the game to leave your opinion for fellow players. It would help us out if you left a review so Kick'n Hell becomes more visible for other players.

Demo update: Replays, Ranks, 3rd Ditch, ...

We're back with great news! The demo has been updated with some major improvements! We have been working hard on the content for our full release, but we haven't forgotten about our demo.

After 2 months, we thought an update was well due! So now it's here. What's new in this update?

    RanksEvery level has it's own ranks based on time. Ranging from Apprentice to Fire Lord.



    A replay system + friends leaderboardsEach leaderboard entry will be connected to the replay of that players run. Everyone can battle against each entry by clicking this entry and then battling. This will make their ghost appear in your level and you will have a direct look at their path. We also added a small icon that can be clicked to just show your Steam friends. Nothing is better than beating your friends in each level right? Now you have a handy overview of just your Steam friends.

    3rd DitchA brand new level from the Circle of Fraud makes it way into Kick'n Hell. 3rd Ditch is another level set in the grim ditches of Fraud where you will have to make your way upwards in a very vertical based level.
    Steam remote play for hotseat!You can invite friends to play together! You can give everyone access to keyboard and mouse by using the remote play features. This is a bit chaotic because everyone has input at the same time, but we hope you can trust your friends on not ruining your run! ;)

    Level intro's Each level has a small video that showcases the whole level. This only plays on your first play or whenever you reset the level. Quick restarting won't trigger this video. They can also be disabled in your settings.

    Key rebindingAll controls can be rebinded in the settings. We don't allow double binding, so no jumping, moving and kicking all on the same button!

    UI improvementsOveral UI has been improved.

    Small difficulty ramping changeWe have adjusted the first few levels slightly, to make them less punishing and more fun to play.

Demo update

Greetings, martial artists!


[h3]We have been at work to improve the demo version that's online. We have some changes that we want to share with you.

  • 2 brand new levels! We added 2 'tutorial' levels. Let us know if these levels make you understand the game better!

  • A brand new gamemode! We have added a hotseat gamemode, which allows you to play with other people locally. We would love to hear what you think of this concept and if you want to see it changed or improved in certain ways.

  • Overal clarity improved. Some aspects in the game were a bit vague. The red doors for example. We have included information which levels are not included in the demo.

  • Dash has been reworked! The dash that is available in the last level has been changed to keep momentum. Furthermore it is now also completely based on the direction you are looking at. So no more dashing backwards!

  • The leaderboards now display more unique characters. To the players with some unique characters like an underscore, your name will now display correctly. Unfortunately we don't have support for all languages.

  • Sprint has become the default! No more worrying over pressing shift, you will run automatically now and you can slow down with pressing shift. This is handy for a small jump or for adjusting your place slightly.

  • Leaderboards accessible from in-game. Check out the times of everyone from inside a level, no need to go to the main menu anymore!


We have also fixed some bugs. If you encounter new bugs, report them in the Discord server!
