Stomp and the Sword of Miracles News

Kickstarter Date! also Discord!

[p]Hey everyone![/p][p]Thank you all for the support you've shown Stomp and the Sword of Miracles so far. After a lot of thinking, I've settled on a date to launch the game's Kickstarter. [/p][p]Stomp and the Sword of Miracles will be coming to Kickstarter on October 13th, right alongside the demo! All sorts of goodies will be up for grabs, including an artbook, the game's soundtrack, and a sticker sheet! [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]If you're looking for something even cooler, you could help design a snack for Stomp can eat on his adventure, or get your own character in the game! There's a Kickstarter prelaunch page up so you can get an email as soon as the campaign launches, in case you want to get in on the early bird discounts or secure one of the special limited rewards.[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]If you wanna make sure you stay up to date with news on anything to do with Stomp, your best option would probably be to join the Frogteam Games Discord community! It's a cozy little server that I chat in sometimes, and it's one of the first places I bring news and announcements to. [/p][p]Hope to see you there![/p][p]Bee[/p][p][/p][p][/p]

New Demo Release Date!

[p]After a lot of consideration and discussion with other game devs and players alike over the past week, I've landed on a new release date for the demo for Stomp and the Sword of Miracles.[/p][p]The demo will now be launching October 13th! A lot of little factors went into this decision, but a really big one was how many people told me they were excited to try it out. Kickstarters typically don't do well during the holiday season, and I don't want to stretch people's excitement too thin by making everyone wait until some time next year![/p][p]In the meantime, I'm going to be hard at work on development further into the game in order to keep progress on track and to have new exciting things to show off around the Kickstarter![/p][p]See you all in October![/p]

Demo delayed

[p]Hey guys![/p][p]Some of you may know that the Stomp and the Sword of Miracles demo was going to launch on August 29th. I was waiting to announce this, but the Kickstarter was going to launch on September 12th, with the demo giving it a little boost beforehand.[/p][p]Team Cherry has suddenly announced that Hollow Knight: Silksong, the mostly highly anticipated metroidvania I've ever seen, is going to release on September 4th.[/p][p]Trying to market an indie game is already really, really hard. It's the task of trying to get attention in a deep sea of other amazing games. In the case of Silksong, however, I feel like a little krill trying to not get eaten by a blue whale. Tiny devs like me rely on word of mouth and streamers to bring in visibility, and everyone's gonna be busy with Silksong for quite a while![/p][p]So, unfortunately, even though it was just a week away, I need to delay the demo for the sake of Stomp's development. I want to give the demo room to shine, and I want to do what I can to make sure the Kickstarter is a success so I can make the best version of Stomp I can. I don't quite know yet when it'll be coming, but I'll keep everyone updated as things go.[/p][p]Bee[/p]

Introducing RELICS!

Throughout your journey on the island, you might face some pretty tough foes. I know what you’re thinking… “gee, it sure would be nice if I could collect an assortment of cool items that power me up in a variety of ways and they can fit into a satisfying little grid,” right? That is what you’re thinking, right…?

Well if it is what you’re thinking, you’re in luck, because Stomp and the Sword of Miracles has exactly that! With relics, you can add little abilities or change up your gameplay in all sorts of helpful ways!

As you explore, you’ll find relics you can equip tucked away in the hidden corners of the island. The more powerful the relics are, the more space they’ll take up in your grid, and some shapes might not fit together so nicely. You’ll have to figure out your own balance between quality and quantity of upgrades!

You can also rotate them to fit different shapes together more easily! Some relics will even behave differently depending on how they’re rotated. It’s a lot of fun.

Here’s a few relics and their descriptions! Some of them are uh… works in progress, as you can probably tell.

This system has been a lot of fun to work on, especially thinking of some weird abilities and ways for relics to behave. For some relics, I’m taking a bit of inspiration from Balatro’s jokers, where some of them are really powerful but come with weird tradeoffs where you have to make moves that aren’t optimal under normal circumstances if you want to squeeze out their full potential.

I’m so excited to share more about this game soon!
