Robot Arena Survivors 1.0 is now available!

Hi there!

I'm excited to announce that after 11 months of dedicated work, I completed the Early Access developement of Robot Arena Survivors with this 1.0 update!

About the 1.0

After many content updates the past two months, I decided to focus on putting all of them together and improve the overall quality and feel of the game, so that Robot Arena Survivors will be as good as possible for its full release. Here is the list of changes done in the 1.0 of the game.

[h2]📊 In-game stats[/h2]
  • Implemented a new stats screen to track interesting data about your playthrough: the date when you launched the game for the first time, your best endless score, your best protect the core time, the time you spent actually playing in arenas, your favorite HTU, your favorite ability, your favorite arena and your favorite game mode.

[h2]🎮 Gameplay[/h2]
  • Locked the rewards displayed when levelling-up to 3 to ensure a better game flow.
  • Explosive enemies will now do bigger damage to enemies in range.
  • Improved the standard game mode: it now has 10 elites to defeat and a better variety of enemies that you can face, in order to make it more interesting for players not interested in playing more competitive game modes.
  • Improved the "protect the core" game mode: reworked the drop-off of crates and the bomb reward to help them feel better when used.

[h2]đŸ–Ĩī¸ User interface[/h2]
  • Improved the display of abilites in the deck and in the deck customization screen: they now are colored based on their damage type even if not unlocked yet, and they'll display if they are currently used in the deck.

[h2]🎨 Graphics[/h2]
  • Rework of all impact and explosion VFXs to ensure they're not impacting too much of the game performances while making sure they look as good as possible without impacting the readability of the game too much.

[h2]â„šī¸ Accessibility settings[/h2]
  • Added an option to toggle the display of screen effects when being damaged.
  • Added an option to toggle the play of sound effects when being damaged.

[h2]âš™ī¸ Interface settings[/h2]
  • Added an option to define the display of big numbers (between full and compact).
  • Added an option to display or hide an health bar on top of the HTU.
  • Added an option to display or hide the UI markers around friendly assets and units.
  • Added an option to display or hide the UI timers on top of friendly assets and units.

[h2]🐛 Bugs fixed[/h2]
  • Fixed an issue with the MK-02 HTU where it was still shooting even if no target were available or after the game was completed.
  • Fixed some issues with the placement of Core assets overlapping with each others.
  • Fixed an issue where the player could shoot through Core assets.

It has been quite a journey from the first game jam prototype to the start of the first line of codes, to the actual 1.0 release, as condensed in this picture below.

About the OST of Robot Arena Survivors

As before with Escape Space, I teamed-up with the talented Scott Hsu to work on the OST for Robot Arena Survivors. Please make sure to check-out his work!

What's next?

With the 1.0 release, I'm confident that I achieved what I wanted to do with this game project. It has been quite a ride to get there, and I'm more than thanksful to everyone who supported the development during Early Access by playing and providing valuable feedback, that helped a lot!

I'll be monitoring closely any feedback from players to ensure fixing potential problems as they appear for the coming weeks. Will I add some more surprises to the game since then? Maybe, stay tuned for any new announcement because I might have some big ideas in stock and you could love them!

1.0 Release Announcement

Hello robot enthusiasts (especially dismantled robots)!

I'm thrilled to announce that after months of dedicated work, Robot Arena Survivors is officially leaving Early Access and will be fully released on December 4, 2024!

It has been an incredible journey since writing the very first lines of code on January 15, 2024 and I couldn't have reached this milestone without your continuous support and feedback.

[h2]Important notice for Early Access players:[/h2]
As we prepare for a full release, all leaderboards will be reset to ensure a fair playing field for both new and returning players. Don't worry - your progress and unlocks will remain intact, so you can jump right back into the action to claim your fame.

0.28.3 Patch

Hello there,

We've just released a new patch for Robot Arena Survivors.

Bug fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where the Steam Achievement "Crushing" wasn't properly triggered at 1000% critical damage reached (but instead, 1100%).
  • Fixed an issue with the [REDACTED] Steam Achievement not being properly handled.
  • Fixed an issue where you could randomly get 11111 tokens. Oopsie.

Hello there,

We've just released a new patch for Robot Arena Survivors.

Protect the Core:
  • Added Core and Core walls real time health indication in the HUD.
  • Added a camera transition that focuses the Core when it gets destroyed.
  • Increased the spawn frequency of the Core towers.
  • Slightly reduced the lifetime of the Core towers.
Gameplay:
  • Reworked the camera transition when starting to move in a new run.
  • Added an health bar on top of the player's HTU.
  • Dramatically increased the push power of the HTU when dashing.
Balancing:
  • Slightly reduced the damage done by the swarm enemies.
  • Slightly reduced the amount of swarm enemies spawing at each spawn tick.
Improvements:
  • Improved the way the spawning is done to prevent unfair spawn on top of the player.
  • Improved the hit detection of the MK-05 HTU weapons.
Bug fixes:
  • Fixed an issue where enemy bullets were able to go through the towers.
