The horrors of World War II have been long chronicled in the annals of videogame history, from all-out war games like Call of Duty and Battlefield to more strategic offerings such as Hearts of Iron and Brothers in Arms, or cerebral, story-led experiences including Valiant Hearts and This War of Mine. War Mechanic, however, imagines an alternate history where the Second World War instead escalated into open conflict between the Soviet Union and the United States, and tasks you with surviving in its retro-inspired dieselpunk reality.

Chronospace has announced War Mechanic, a unique first-person sim set in a dieselpunk world, arriving on PC in 2025. Coming to PC in 2025, Chronospace has announced War Mechanic, a first-person sim set in a dieselpunk world where players take on the role of a military base manager and mechanic in an alternate reality where World War II has escalated into open conflict with the Soviet Union and the rest of the free world. The game will feature strategy elements, resource management, base building and defence, alongside exploration and a fleshed-out narrative. War Mechanic offers a retro-inspired aesthetic, a sense of humour, and sharp satire. Stepping into the world of War Mechanic, World War II evolves into a conflict between the Soviet Union and the United States, with both sides focusing on the development of robots and acquiring Nazi technology.
