Castle Doombad Classic v0.9.3325 (Minor bugfix patch 2)

Thank you again to all the helpful villains out there who have reported issues and provided feedback! Please read below for the new improvements in our Day 2 Bugfix patch:

CASTLE DOOMBAD CLASSIC - Minor Bugfix Patch 2

ADDITIONS & CHANGES:

  • Added screenshake to explosions! You can turn off all screenshake in the accessibility section of the settings menu

  • The Man of Teal (Superhero) can no longer fall through trap doors, and also now flies over rock piles rather than hopping
BUGFIXES:

  • Fixed an audio issue where if the player hit the NEXT button in the Results Screen while the trap "energy bar fill" sounds were playing, they'd get stuck looping

  • Fixed an issue with the Trap Door where if heroes died at a specific moment while falling through, they'd get stuck in an invulnerable state in the castle, or otherwise soft lock the wave

  • Sounds and hero deaths no longer occur underneath the Roguevenge results screen in the background

  • Fixed an issue where after completing all 30 To-Dooms and cycling back to old To-Dooms, they could get stuck in an automatic-completing cycle on the results screen

  • Fixed an Evil Scheme involving recycling traps from not completing, and also fixed a daily scheme involving slaying heroes with reskinned traps not completing

  • Fixed the Decoy Princess from having wacky scale changes while being carried, and fixes instances of the explosion not doing damage

Thank you so much to our launch-day Doombadders for all your support, kind words, and feedback! We have a quick launch day patch that fixes a few issues, noted below. We hope you continue to enjoy the game, and keep an eye out for more improvements and updates coming soon!

CASTLE DOOMBAD CLASSIC - Minor Bugfix Patch
v0.9.3306 - 12/12/24

BUGFIXES:


  • Fixed the launch gift "8bitkin" Doomkin reskin not being set to 0 Cruelpons. To redeem, press the "reskin" button while having the regular Doomkin highlighted in the Trap Select Screen, and then scrolling to the last reskin option. (Note: this reskin will only be set to 0 Cruelpons for launch week, afterwards it will increase to 20 Cruelpons if not already unlocked.)

  • Now properly preventing interacting with pickups inside the castle during the Wave End Reward Arrow Choice sequence in Roguevenge, which was causing the wave sequence to break in some cases

  • Fixed issue with Soul Cases in Roguevenge spawning multiple sets of drops when multiple Soul Cases were present simultaneously

  • Now hiding the "Extend Trap Shelf" button in the Roguevenge Trap Select Screen until the player has unlocked it via the Classic Mode tutorial (stage 8), at which point it will be unhidden
OTHER NOTES:

  • Two notable issues are still being fixed currently and will be patched asap: 1) If you hit "next" on the Results Screen quickly before the Trap Energy Bars finish filling, the fill sound effect will get stuck in a loop until you close the game, 2) if you kill a hero the moment they fall through the trap door, they will become invulnerable and float through the castle until you restart the stage.

Castle Doombad Classic Release Date Update



Sinister status update! Castle Doombad Classic is now releasing on December 12, 2024.

We're very sorry to announce a second delay, which we realize is a bad look and very disappointing. We decided that the Steam version needed just a little more fine-tuning and polish time, and that this was ultimately the best decision for the game. We promise this will be the last delay, and that everything is now very close to ready!

The free 8bitkin reward will also still be available the first week after this new release date 🙌

Castle Doombad Classic has been delayed to November 25th, 2024



Hey Doomfriends,

We’ve got some not-so-fun news to share. Unfortunately, we've made the difficult decision to delay Castle Doombad Classic to November 25th, 2024.


The reality is that we fell behind on our original timeline, which was always a bit ambitious for what we had planned (we aimed for a Halloween release that we knew was going to be a little difficult to hit, simply because we loved the idea of serving up some spooky Doombad goodness for the holiday!). Rather than rushing the game out in an unfinished state to hit our original date, we thought it was better for the game and the players to delay.

But the good news behind this delay is that the new content we’re adding—especially the brand-new Roguevenge Mode—has grown into something bigger and better than we initially anticipated. As a result, it’s required more time and effort to pull off and perfect than we had originally planned.


We sincerely apologize for pushing back the release dates and for the last-minute nature of this announcement. Please know that our team is working hard to bring you something fun, unique, and deliciously villainous—and you’ll have it in your hands very soon!

In the meantime, here’s some positive news:

Though Steam Next Fest is now complete, we've decided to leave the Castle Doombad Classic Demo up on Steam indefinitely for the time being, so you can still enjoy it while you wait for the full release. And, to thank you for your patience, we’re also offering a special bonus: the "8Bitkin" Doomkin reskin will automatically unlock for anyone who launches the game during the first week of release! (November 25th - December 2nd).
