[h2]Game Modes[/h2]
  • [p]Bot Arena playlists no longer counts towards weapon mastery progression[/p]
  • [p]Added “Arena Royale” - a new 24-player gamemode that is a hybrid between an arena mode and a battle royale[/p]
    • [p]Be the last team standing - respawns are enabled, but your team is knocked out if everyone is killed at once[/p]
      • [p]Kills reduce respawn timers, deaths increase them[/p]
      • [p]Timers also increase the longer the match lasts[/p]
    • [p]Vote for one of 4 biomes to play in each match: Outskirts, Glacier, Drought, Fracture[/p]
    • [p]Proximity chat[/p]
      • [p]Teammates can hear you from any distance, enemies can hear you (without any directionality or distance indication) when nearby[/p]
    • [p]Upgrades[/p]
      • [p]Weapons, equipment, armor, and the portal gun can now be upgraded on the fly from your inventory when you have enough credits[/p]

      • [p]Every round, one of three possible arena events spawn (Firecracker, Hotzone, Splitball)[/p]
      • [p]Win the event to earn a large amount of credits for your entire team[/p]
    • [p]Updates from our original battle royale[/p]
      • [p]Being revived after your death box has been looted now spawns you with your selected loadout instead of just your fists.[/p]
      • [p]All players on your team now earn credits when you kill someone, meaning every kill helps your whole team progress rather than just you.[/p]
      • [p]Chests, airdrops, and enemy death boxes now open automatically, and most items (aside from weapons and equipment) will now be picked up automatically.[/p]
      • [p]Armor and portal gun upgrades no longer drop when you die - once you upgrade, there’s no fear you’ll go back down a level.[/p]
      • [p]The circle now closes in stages and can even “move” in the last round before closing entirely.[/p]
      • [p]New respawn timers become disabled in the final moments of a match[/p]
        • [p]Teammates can still be revived if you find an opportunity.[/p]
  • [p]Added “Teabag Confirmed”[/p]
    • [p]Teabag enemies to score points, teabag allies to deny the enemy team points.[/p]
    • [p]Teabag Takeover Event will be launching on January 23rd.[/p]
  • [p]One in the Chamber[/p]
    • [p]Added non-event variants that use the Goliath Heavy Pistol[/p]

  • [p]Fixed issue where sun position wasn’t getting saved between sessions[/p]
  • [p]Item pads now offer more customization options[/p]
[h2]Performance[/h2]
  • [p]General performance improvements across the board[/p]
  • [p]Indirect shadows no longer render when objects are too small on the screen, boosting performance without sacrificing quality[/p]
  • [p]Virtual textures (largely comprising landscapes and lightmaps) now have more room to stream on low/medium settings[/p]
  • [p]Numerous bug fixes to character and weapon skins that were hurting performance when you couldn’t even see them[/p]
  • [p]Arena Royale[/p]
    • [p]Massive performance improvements over the original Battle Royale[/p]
    • [p]Biomes are now loaded in their entirety as only one is needed per match, reducing hitches caused by having to stream the world as you move through it.[/p]
    • [p]Biomes now use a much more optimized representation for geometry which improves loading time, memory usage, and overall framerate.[/p]
  • [p]Biome art has been given a once-over across all biomes to improve framerates and memory usage[/p]
[h2]General[/h2]
  • [p]Fixed issue where players would sometimes not be visible in voice chat despite hearing their audio[/p]
  • [p]Fixed issue where players sometimes couldn’t be heard in voice chat or seen in text chat[/p]
  • [p]Fixed issue where some frontend progression tracks would have unlocked items shown as locked[/p]
  • [p]Fixed some cases where first-person visuals for some cosmetics would appear in third-person[/p]
  • [p]Fixed Banana Split (portal kill) medal not being awarded if you died[/p]
