After Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree snatched The Witcher 3's crown, one Blood and Wine dev says he's gonna buy it just "to support the team"

As you might have seen, when the reviews of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree came out the other day, it snatched the title of most highly rated DLC ever among reviewers on Metacritic. The Witcher 3's brilliant Blood and Wine expansion was the foe it surpassed to earn that honour, and now developer CD Projekt's whipped out the charm to congratulate the new titleholders.

In fact, one of the key developers behind the very DLC that Shadow of the Erdtree eclipsed says he's going to go a step further and give Miyazaki and co a little financial pat on the back.

In a tweet quoting the one CD Projekt put out via The Witcher's official account, Pawel Sasko, who served as a lead quest designer on Blood and Wine - in addition to having assumed important roles on both Cyberpunk 2077 and its currently-in-development sequel since that point - has declared his intention to buy Shadow of the Erdtree despite not having beaten the Elden Beast even once.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree beats all the bosses to become both highest rated game of 2024 so far, and the highest rated DLC ever

Hi. There's an expansion coming out this week. It's called Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree and you probably haven't heard much about it. Anyway, within a day of the reviews of it coming out ahead of its arrival on June 21, it's casually become the highest rated game of 2024 and the highest rated DLC ever among critics on Metacritic.

Yup, Miyazaki and co have basically succeded in making us hold their beer as they casually make an expansion that's a good bet to get plenty of Game of the Year votes from folks who're determined to argue that getting more of a thing pretty much everyone already gave one GOTY award to warrants us all dispensing another one. Seriously though, given the very high expectations folks had for it, From's done a pretty amazing thing here.

If you head over to Metacritic, the place you go when you've run out of ways to say a game's good during an argument with your mates, you'll see that Shadow of the Erdtree's currently sitting at a critic rating of 95, with our own review being a part of the sample of 56 which've led to that number being a thing.

Don't worry, Call of Duty Black Ops 6 won't require about six Witcher 3s worth of space on your machine

If you've been worried that Call of Duty Black Ops 6 might require huge amount of space to install and play - say the 300GB listed on the Xbox Store over the weekend - then good news, it looks like it won't be that big after all.

Yup, stop engaging in all of those debates as to whether the series being on Game Pass now is a good thing for Xbox or not in order to stop yourself from panicking, you can chill out now.

This is because the figure of just over 300GB listed on those pre-order pages has now been identified by Activision to "not represent the download size or disk footprint for Black Ops 6". So, no need to woory about having to have enough space for about six copies of the Witcher 3 - going off of that game's Steam space requirement listing of 50 GB.
