More performance fixes are planned for The Witcher 3 next-gen

The development team for The Witcher 3 Enhanced Edition is still hard at work improving its performance on PC. More optimisations for the remastered RPG game are in the works, CD Projekt says, including better CPU core utilisation and better performance for ray-traced shadows and global illumination.

The Witcher 3's next-gen update features detailed and 'unintended' female genitalia

The Witcher 3's next-gen update brings better graphics and performance to the game. That was expected. But players weren't expecting, was realistic and detailed female anatomy down south.

These new models are being called into question for their level of detail. Some players may question why such intimate details were included in the update, while others may simply enjoy the eye candy. Either way, the inclusion wasn't intentional on CDPR's part.

Per some rather graphic screenshots posted to reddit (view at your own risk), Crones, in particular, have been given a bit of a makeover. This renovation includes not only detailed mons pubis and labia but landing strips as well, with not a bear trapper's hat in sight.

The Witcher 3's next-gen update has added detailed vaginas to female monsters, apparently by mistake?

Well, here's an article that future acquaintances will find when they Google my name for the rest of my life. You remember that Witcher 3 next-gen update? The one that polished the 2015 game to a mirror-sheen, finally added a fast travel point to Crow's Nest, and integrated a bunch of popular mods into the base game? The Witcher 3's latest patch improves performance on console, but makes it worse on PC

A recent update for The Witcher 3 was supposed to improve performance on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, but the latter is actually running worse.

The Witcher 3 saw the arrival of patch 4.01 earlier this week, noting that it "improves the overall stability and performance of the game on next-gen consoles and PC, and brings various fixes to all platforms." Only problem is, as reported by Rock Paper Shotgun, that just isn't the case on PC. Upon booting up the game to test out the new settings, RPS found that if you don't have ray-tracing enabled, the game actually runs worse than before.

One of the PC-specific additions added with this update is that a performance mode for ray-traced global illumination is now available as an option, hardware permitted. This setting "improves frame rate by prioritising performance over range and precision," which apparently works well. But without any RT settings turned on, frame rates can dip lower than 25fps, making for a not particularly smooth experience (as demonstrated here).
