Genome Guardian: Prologue News

Update 1.1.1
Bringing the prologue version up-to-date with the full version with a bunch of changes & fixes!

CHANGES:
• Offspring-related mutations now appear less often.
 • Projectiles with homing no longer seek towards microbes/offspring that they've already hit (they'll feel better because of this change).
 • (mutation) microbes are completely insane: Now a bit less insane (microbes won't move quite as fast).
 • Checklist, Turret & Perk menus have been expanded to show empty placeholders for future full-game content - as new game modes / turrets / perks are added to the full game, they will appear in those spots (after you meet their unlock conditions, that is). (NOTE: these menus will look busier now, but I felt that having all icons on-screen at once would still offer a better play experience than if I were to, for example, separate them onto different pages.)
 • Barrel Light "Cone" would practically dissappear if Accuracy was too good, but not anymore.
 • (mutation) blank!: Now says "benign!" so as not to be confused with being an error.
 • (turret) Maw: Eating sounds & effects!
FIXES:
• Fixed some cases where, when Range was reduced by more than 50%, it would apply an extra steep Range reduction.
 • At aspect ratios narrower than 16:9, weapon range was getting reduced - you'll now be able to play at any aspect ratio without any weird range changes.

Full Game JUST RELEASED!!!
Genome Guardian (the full version) is NOW AVAILABLE (30% OFF until 21 May)!

NOTE: The full game (linked above) is on a DIFFERENT STEAM PAGE!
Many people have the free prologue on their wishlist, but the game on this page will always be just a free introductory demo for the full experience - if you want the full game, buy or wishlist it on its own Steam page!

The following pertains to the full game:

RELEASE STATE
Play from beginning to end with 25 turrets, 48 perks, and 100 Steam Achievements at launch...and by "end", I don't mean reaching wave 30 - your first win is just the tutorial.

FUTURE CONTENT

Largely depends on Genome Guardian's success. I'd like to double the amount of available turrets (25→50) & perks (48→96) before July, but this isn't set in stone. Updates will also be based on what players actually want. Some plans include:
 • Localization (only English currently)
 • Mac & Linux versions
 • New modes
 • "ENDLESS MODE" improvements
 • More uses for research (research sinks)
 • Addressing feedback, suggestions and bug reports!
DISCORD

Give me feedback & bug reports in the Discord. Also a fun place to talk about the game, discuss builds, and the #1 place to hear what I have planned or for easily getting in touch with me!

Update 1.0.10
Yes, 2 game updates in 1 day… and this one contains even more changes & additions based on player feedback!

CHANGES:
• From now on, the first item you take from the shop will be free! (I've taken away the prologue-exclusive bonus starting Biomass to compensate)
 • When hovering over an item in the shop, your open slots corresponding to that item type will light up.
 • 4 new mutations! You'll have to play and find out what they are, but they affect microbes depending on their DNA…

Update 1.0.9
A little more polish & refinement before Genome Guardian's full release!

CHANGES:
• I have once again tweaked the balance to be a bit friendlier to newcomers.
 • You're now guaranteed to see at least 1 weapon in the shop on wave 1, 2, 3 (in the full game it won't be guaranteed, but will be more likely!).
 • Items in the shop will be 5 Biomass cheaper in the prologue since it only lets you reach wave 20.
 • Both discovered and undiscovered weapons in ARSENAL / microbes in MICROBES will show their DNA letters on their button (so that it's easier to know which weapons to go for if you're trying to discover them all).

Update 1.0.8
This patch includes a really important fix that affects any players with high refresh rate monitors (120Hz+).

CHANGES:
• Weapons offered in the shop display the DNA letter instead of that weapon's projectile now (hopefully this helps players better understand what they're buying, and what each weapon represents).
 • Wave ending alert text and tint is now green instead of red (so that it looks more distinct from the red low Health tint).
 • Hovering over text and buttons in SETTINGS shows an explanation near the bottom.
 • Victory stars will now also show on turret and perk icons in CHECKLIST.
 • It's no longer possible for all 4 items in the shop to be identical.
FIXES:
• Various weapon behaviours and visual effects were sped up for players with high refresh rate monitors - if this includes you, give the game another go now that this is fixed! (seriously, it completely messed up the balancing/aesthetic).
 • Heat-related perks that had their descriptions changed by the Diesel turret ("heat" becomes "fuel") will now properly update when you change your turret to something else.
 • Victory stars will appear on the corner of weapons when you view the arsenal from the pause menu, just like they do on the regular ARSENAL menu.
Patches are going to slow down a bit from now until the full game's launch on 7 May as I shift focus towards marketing!
