Crime Boss, 2023's worst-rated FPS, might actually be good now

If you're in the mood for a great heist game, and are waiting on Payday 3 to really hit its stride, it's time to check in on a 2023 challenger you might have let slip by. The delightfully tongue-in-cheek Crime Boss: Rockay City has just launched on Steam with a temptingly low new price tag, so PCGamesN sat down with Ingame Studios head of development Jarek Kolář to discuss the game's rocky launch, how far it's come since, and the dedicated community that helped it find its place.

Update 9.4 is OUT NOW!

Patch notes for Update 9.4

- Fixed an issue where throwable equipment were sometimes unusable.

- Fixed an issue with new clients joining a session in progress would count as a revive.

- Sorting in session browser is properly functional now.

- Closing the game while in a mission in Baker's Battle will no longer stack the payout bonus, thus the money exploit is no longer valid.

- Chat visibility fixed. Text instructing player to write now disappears after pressing enter.

- Sentry turret no longer breaks client’s FOV.

- Multiple crash fixes.

Once-hated Payday rival Crime Boss blows up on Steam with rave reviews

With Payday 2 holding strong and Payday 3 still struggling after a troubled launch, there's certainly a gap in the market for a new heist game contender. Enter the once-maligned Crime Boss: Rockay City, which just launched on Steam after a year as an Epic Games Store PC exclusive. It's already off to a great start on Valve's storefront, netting rave user reviews and thousands of new players.
