Go Up January Update

[h2]The holidays are over, but the party goes on![/h2][p][/p][h3]Scribbles in the Dark[/h3][p]It’s back to the grind for those of us rising ever upward, and we have a new friend to introduce to everyone. Scribble Warlock will now be adding his own artistic flare to Go Up and helping us create an amazing new skill tree background. All his art is awesome and he’s got much more to share, so check him out @ScribbleWarlock on the social medias. With Scribble Warlock’s help we hope to gamify the skill tree even more by adding in some interactables inspired by our new friend’s sweet scribbles.[/p][p] [/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]This current background is just a placeholder for now while we shore up plans for the future and attempt to make the most of Scribble Warlock’s talents. To go along with the background we’ve implemented a new dynamic lighting system to reveal the new art as you traverse the skill tree. Use the new craftable torch item to light your way as you explore the new terrain of Scribble Warlock’s art. [/p][p]
[/p][h3]Forge of Creation[/h3][p]Along with some new and updated chaos events which drop new items, we’ve also started to implement the beginnings of a crafting system for Go Up. If you’ve been keeping up you know there are already some uses for some of the items you’ve seen thus far, including the sticks from the Tree of Life, but now sticks can be used to power the Forge of Creation! While the forge is lit you can craft a torch to help guide you through the new background art. We will be expanding on the crafting system going forward, so the torch is just the tip of this iceberg. [/p][p][/p][h3]Chaos Redux[/h3][p]We’ve updated the chaos system in order to create some of the new events in the attempt to add more interactivity for those of you who like to play a bit more actively.  These were pretty fun for us, so I think more events like these are on the horizon. [/p][p][/p][p]Spiders can spit webs and bite, but you can catch the webs and bash the spiders. Tentacles may attempt to grab you, but you can burn them with your superior speed.  Disco demands lefts, rights, ups, and downs, but you have all the moves at your disposal. Looks like you’re going to have to dance your way out of this one. [/p][p] [/p][h3]Bug fixes and QoL[/h3][p]Along with the new content we found, fixed, tweaked, and massaged many elements of the game to more closely fit our vision of Go Up. Go Up November Update

[h2]Giving Thanks[/h2][p]It’s that time of year where we here in America take time to appreciate all the good things that have happened, and we want to extend our sincere gratitude and thanks to all our players here at home and wherever else you might be. Thank you for giving our game a play, thank you for the feedback you’ve given us, and thank you for accompanying us on our journey upwards! We truly appreciate every single one of you who has played and hopefully, in these tumultuous times we find ourselves in, Go Up can be at least a small something to be thankful for. We hope you all have enjoyed everything that we’ve been able to add to the game so far, and hope you continue to enjoy the upcoming changes. We still have a few more big updates on the horizon, and we have a fresh batch of fun new mechanics ready to go yet again![/p][p][/p][h3]Whisps[/h3][p]Whisps are naturally occurring accumulations that can grow over time as they collect the various types of particles. You can click them to collect what they’ve accumulated so far, but if you let them grow you’ll get more out of them. There are also some new whisp related dark skills in the skill tree.[/p][p][/p][h3]Emotes[/h3][p]The character now has a mouth with which to scream… or smile, or frown, depending on what you might subject it to.[/p][p][/p][h3]More Stats[/h3][p]We are now tracking a number of new stats in the compendium. For instance, those of you who were wondering the total number of particles your refiner has made, we now have an answer for you in your favorite format, yet another number that goes up! (If anyone has a specific stat they want tracked that we aren’t already tracking let us know and we'll see what we can do)[/p][p][/p][h3]Dark Upgrades[/h3][p]Purchasing dark upgradable skills now allows you to see the next purchasable dark upgradable skill, and you don’t have to purchase the normal version of the skill ever again! [/p][p][/p][h3]New Music Track![/h3][p]Our friend Stephen Garza has made yet another aural masterpiece for you to unlock, a true fest for your ears![/p][p][/p][p]Minor Bug Fixes and Quality of Life[/p]

Go Up October Update

[h2]The Tree of Life[/h2][p]We introduced the Tree of Life in the last update but have since fleshed out the mechanics a bit more. As the tree grows it may produce a branch or a fruit as you already know, but now the branches can grant powerful passives that will help you in various ways along your journey. [/p][p][/p][h3]Pruning[/h3]
  • [p]You can now prune the tree for a stick and a chance to grow more fruit in it’s place, or possibly a branch with different passive effects. Once you have a branch you like you can upgrade it by fertilizing the tree. [/p]
[h3]Composting and Fertilizing[/h3]
  • [p]You can now compost fruit and/or sticks collected from the tree and once you’ve collected the compost you can use it to fertilize your tree.  This will upgrade its branches for more powerful passives and/or grow your fruits to the next tier instantly![/p]
[h3]Biotemporal Suspension[/h3]
  • [p]Once you have your tree the way you want it, and if you aren’t interested in gathering more fruit, you can now freeze the tree in it’s current state.  While Biotemporalysis is in effect the tree will no longer wither or grow.[/p]
[h2]Compendium and Stats[/h2][p]We’ve added some more info about particles into the compendium expanding on the “lore” of Go Up. We’ve also been trying to pack in some more statistics that you can monitor in real time while playing. [/p][h2]
Chaos Buildup and Shape Spawns[/h2][p]We’ve changed the way chaos builds up to add more randomness. Now the more quickly you collect chaos particles the less they are worth, but we’ve also added randomness to triggering the chaos event, meaning there is no longer a set amount of particles you need before the event spawns.  [/p][p][/p][p]We continued to add a few more shape spawns as well, and I’m sure we have some more coming up.  Also instead of only getting the anvil event while suffering, now the lower value shape drops can also reduce your suffering count. [/p][p]

[p]Skill Tree Rework[/p]
  • [p]We’ve reorganized, added, and changed a few things in the skill tree with new hidden areas you’ll need to find. Some of these hidden areas may require an item to unlock, which bring me to the next big change![/p]

  • [p]We’ve added usable items into the game, some are used to unlock hidden areas, some are used to boost spawn rates, who knows what some of these items may do in the future!  One of the more important items you may find moving forward is the simple but powerful omni fruit.  But how does one acquire one of these rare fruits?

[p]Tree of Life[/p]
  • [p]Agriculture is one of the corner stones of any society, and now you can farm in Go Up with the Tree of Life!  Water your tree, watch it grow! Max it out in order to grow the most fruit.  The omni fruit is a very valuable tool when it comes to ascending.  You can eat it, you can sell it, and we’ve got some more big ideas for the future of the omni fruit. [/p]
[p][/p][p]Notifications and the Compendium[/p]
  • [p]You can’t always be looking at your progress in Go Up, and being an idle game I would go so far as to say you probably shouldn’t.  This being so we’ve decided to add some notifications when certain things happen so when you get back you can see that you’ve encountered something you may not have seen before.  [/p]
  • [p]You can also revisit any of these notifications in your compendium.  Some of these notifications may hold hints on what to look for on your journey ahead, so make sure to consult your handy dandy compendium! [/p]
[p][/p][p]Stats[/p]
  • [p]If there’s one thing idle game players adore it’s numbers, and preferably ones that Go Up!  We’ve added in some skills to give you more stats on your journey, as well as a total particle count section in the compendium. [/p]

  • [p]We’ve finally got the first batch of achievements ready to go, but you can bet there will be many more to come.  These are the first of many, maybe not as much as some idle games, but I think there will be enough to keep you busy for a while.

[p]QoL Improvements [/p]
  • [p]As always this update comes with a slough of minor bug fixes and some quality of life improvements.  We also have continued to further optimize as much as we can, because we’re going to need some head room for the larger updates ahead. Also the skill tree should be a little easier to navigate now, and editing your sigil should be a little less fidgety.

  • [p]As we near the release of Go Up, and as the holiday season looms over us, we want to reassure our players that we aren’t done yet!  We have some larger updates that might take a little longer than the monthly release schedule allows, so if we miss a month don’t worry! It just means we are either busy working on getting the larger pieces into place for the next update, or possibly spending some time with our families.  Our mothers miss us as do yours (call your parents).[/p]

Go Up August Update!

[h3]Oodles of Moodles[/h3][p]We’ve added a moodle system to help show statuses you might face in your journey. For example our players are probably already familiar with the encroaching darkness, but we’re not sure how many noticed that if you let it build up for a while you actually get a reward after.  With the new moodle system you can see exactly how much bonus time you’ve built up.[/p][h3]Looming Shadows and Suffering[/h3][p]As you progress through Go Up you’ll have to make many decisions, some of these decisions might lead to gaining power, but often gaining power comes with some bad karma, which could build up, which in turn could lead to some things going wrong. Injury or even monsters may mire your progress if you choose the path of darkness. Luckily there are paths to absolution for those hoping to embrace the light![/p][p][/p][h3]Oaths take and Tithes[/h3][p]Our players may have interacted with these skills in order to halt the encroaching darkness, but beware broken oaths and unpaid dues! [/p][h3]Good and Bad Deeds[/h3][p]Crime pays, but your conscience often foots the bill.  You might be able to progress down an easy path more quickly, but there is something to be said for doing some good deeds and progressing quickly without the weight of a guilty consequence.[/p][h3]Omni particle frenzy[/h3][p]Along with consequences we’ve also added some new rewards.  The Omni particle is a special and rare new particle that will boost the spawn rate of all other particles for a short time.  Grab them quick before you pass them by![/p][h3]Radiant ascension[/h3][p]If you ascend with a clean conscience you will be rewarded with an hour of higher spawn rates making your progress on your next ascension a little easier.[/p][h3]Clicking the can down the road with the Arrow Meter[/h3][p]We've heard your cries of "Button? Why Button?" In short we’ve decided to alleviate the strain of holding a button in these trying times and will now be subsidizing any press or click with the new “Arrow Meter”.  It will fill while holding down any button, fill faster when clicking faster, and will make everything function as if you were pressing while there is still juice in the tank. More clicks, less holds, making every second of active play go further towards your next ascension, or allow for a more afk upwards experience. [/p][h3]Less Falling, Go Higher[/h3][p]We've changed the base acceleration skills so that you not only stop falling when the game is closed but now have also added dark upgrades that actually let you go up while the game is closed. We've also decided to add the ascension bonus multiplier to high scores, which in combination with the new acceleration skills might make highscores start to get a little out of hand, but that's a problem for another day.[/p][h3]Player Made Sigils are here![/h3][p]Players may now create their own sigils made up of all the different particles.  If a player has customized their own sigil then anyone passing that player’s high score gets to collect their sigil.  [/p][p][/p][p]These sigils could be made of gold or even dark particles, making passing a player with a sigil a pretty lucrative event. But for those who have spent some time making fancy sigils of their own, players may also collect their own sigils at the beginning of each ascension.  As you progress through the game the size and amount of particles used in making the sigils goes up, so the more sigils you make the richer everyone may become![/p][p][/p][h2]Patch Notes[/h2]
