Patch Notes #105 - Dark Marsh

Dark Marsh
The day is finally here! If you're reading this, Dark Marsh is here and ready for you to explore! New mobs, items, skills, crafts, bags (trunks), morphs, and more can be found in the marshlands.



Dark Marsh Bosses
Both will have a solo challenge this time round! Take on The Father or Mother Nature solo with proof of the completion via screen recordings or alerting a mod, Dark, Alyssa, Destaith or Dino of your attempt so they can witness the fight.



Wood Cutting and Mahogany Trunks
When trunks? NOW! Mahogany Trunks have been added to Dark Marsh! However, to obtain the best bags, trunk, in the game you'll need to learn a new ability. Wood Cutting! You can cut down Mahogany Saplings with a Saw. How do you get a Saw? Head over to the Loggers Camp and help him with his Centaur problem. Also, he may have some more tasks for you to get a Chainsaw?



Forest Keepers and Lumber Lords
Two new factions have come to Fantasy Online 2 with the addition of Dark Marsh. Each come with new factions outfits, medallions, banners and crests!

Want to increase your faction rank? Take on mobs like Frogs, Gnomes, Dryads and Werebears, to increase your Forest Keepers rank and Mahogany Saplings, Centaurs, Forces of Nature and Mother Nature to increase your Lumber Lords rank!



Metamorph Rank 2 and Rework
Rank 2 Metamorphs are here and some of you got a preview of those earlier today! Head to Dark Marsh and take on the Elemental Fairies. Each one will drop unique crystals needed to upgrade the Rank 1 Skill Books.

In the process of adding Rank 2 Metamorphs we took a good look at the sprites. The morph sprites we currently have in game were from the original with minor touch ups to match the style of FO2 better but still had something off about them. Thanks to Alyssa's hard work we now have updated versions to fit the feel of FO2!



Debuffs
Coming with Dark Marsh the elemental Fairies will have different debuffs based on their element. Also, Mother Nature and Forces of Nature will have Root so get ready to stand there while praying your dodge doesn't fail you.

- Fire will have Burn. While Burn is active you will take continuous damage even while out of combat.
- Earth will have Thin Skin. While Thin Skin is active your Armor will be reduced.
- Wind will have Off Target. While Off Target is active your Crit will be reduced.
- Ice will have Degen. While Degen is active your Energy will deplete even while outside of combat.

Debuffs will have a cast interval and a success percent.
Example: Cast Interval is 30 seconds. Success Percent is 50%.
If it's successful then the debuff duration timer will start. When finished the mob can cast again.
If the debuff is unsuccessful, the 30 second interval timer starts again.



Tier Set Bonuses
Tier set bonuses are here! Get rewarded for using multiple of the same tier set gear. This includes armor, weapon, books and rings. Think of set bonuses as having an additional Tier Book that just gets applied behind the scenes. Below is a table showing off the bonuses for all tier sets along with a sneak peek at T5 bonuses.



Gold Pickaxe Crafting
You will now be able to craft a Gold Pickaxe as you enter the Forgotten Underground. Now go collect some RF Gold Plates and Gold Crab Relics and get to mining!



Gemstones, Salt, Coral and Souls
We've heard the talks on gemstone drop rates for quite some months now and understand a buff should be made. Alongside gemstones, there’s been talk of other valuable resources like salt, coral, souls, and even pearls from clams.

-   Onyx, Sapphires, Amethysts, Rubies and Diamonds will be receiving a buff from 5% drop change to 10%.
-   Diamonds were the odd one out with a 7.5% drop rate but will also be made 10%  .
-   Pearls from Clams and Big Clams will also receive a buff. Clams will go from 2.5% to 5% and Big Clams 5% to 10%.  
-   Salt Veins will now have a 3% chance to drop a Salt Slab.  
-   Coral Veins will now have a 3% chance to drop a Coral Slab.  
-   Graves will now have a 1% chance to drop a Soul Gem.  
-   Tombstones will now have a 2% chance to drop a Soul Gem.

Patch Notes #104 - Market v2

The Market has a new look and a lot of new features.


Much of the Market's GUI code has been completely rewritten.


A level column has been added which shows the level requirement of the item and allows you to sort by it. Tooltips now show exactly what these column headers do.


Item type and subtype combo boxes have been added to the Market's GUI. Item type and subtype filters have been added to the public Market search api as well. This allows for item type and subtype filtering just like in the Collector window.


Level min and max sliders allow you to filter by level. Click on the level column header and you can sort by level at the same time. This makes it much easier to find gear your level.


The sell tab contents also got a big facelift to match the buy tab.

Gamer's Patch Notes

  • Quick equip now works with double click/tap along with right click.

  • Added a friend request counter on top of the social friend/ignore button.

  • Android and iOS are now locked to landscape right. (iOS bug still let's you rotate. Waiting for a fix.)

  • Refactored item slots a bit to remove some old nasty code including BabylonJS setAndStartTimer.

  • Updated Steam client to the latest Electron which includes the latest Chrome which has a lot of bug fixes.

  • Fixed a bug where you couldn't drag/drop or double click/tap without breaking the slot. Mostly happened on mobile.

  • Removed some code that turned off all pointer enter/out on mobile as it broke things.

  • Added onPointerEnterNonTouchObservable alongside onPointerEnterObservable in order to filter out touch enters and suppress tooltips and hover color/alpha changes.

Patch Notes #103 - Spatial Skill Sound Effects & Fight Line Colors

All damage skill sound effects are played using spatial audio! "Spatial audio" refers to sounds placed in a three dimensional space. It requires a "listener" to hear the audio, and a "source" to emit the audio. Listeners and sources both have a 3D position and direction, and sources have additional settings for specifying how the sound should propagate in the 3D space.

In FO2 the listener position is set to your characters position and the source position is set to the damage target's position. The source also is set to currently be at default volume from 1-64 pixels from the target, falls off from 64-512 pixels, and is silent past 512 pixels. This will possibly be changed to use the viewport size in the future.

All damage skills now have visual effects and sound effects that play on the target. We continue to work on finding and commissioning more visual effects and sound effects to cover other skill types like buffs, healing, and teleports.

  • Sound effect toggle in the Settings window now effects skill sound effects as well.

  • All damage skills now have both a visual effect and a sound effect that play on the target.

  • A lot of this long term GUI refactoring has lead to finally removing some very old nasty files. Awesome.

  • Bag bar slots are now vertical on the right side of the screen on mobile.

  • Added Relic and Mount slots to the equip window.

  • Added Relic and Mount slots server side.

  • Added Fight Line slot to outfit window and server side.

  • Added Fight Line color customization code to client and server.

  • Added our first sound effect. It's a toggle click in the settings window.

  • Ordered a cheap Android phone to test things like parts of authentication that only work on real hardware.

  • Moved all the music streaming code to GameSoundManager.

  • iOS WebKit only just recently added support for ogg files in iOS 18.4 and our music is ogg, so I converted all the music to mp3 and now it will choose one based on platform.

  • Music playback on iPhones fixed! (You music have silent mode off for music to work on iOS right now. Looking into a hack to fix this as it's an iOS bug)

  • Music now pauses/resumes when the window visibility changes.

  • Fixed a bug where if you background the app on mobile and then go back into it, the game can possibly be in portrait. The game WebView is always forced to landscape now.

  • Fixed a bug with the bank window and tabs that slowed down loading.

  • Ported the text tab handling code to GUIWindowDynamic.

  • Ported the Achievements window to GUIWindowDynamic aka mobile and rewrote the internals to use GUIScrollList.

  • Added Achievements window toggle to top right on mobile.

  • Added Quests tab to the Achievements window. (Quest achievements will be added in the future)

  • Added shop purchase sound effect. (If you hate any sound effects please speak up!)
